Minnesota Twins at Los Angeles Dodgers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Minnesota Twins at Los Angeles Dodgers odds and lines, with expert MLB picks, predictions and best bets.

The Minnesota Twins (24-19) wrap up a 3-game interleague series with the Los Angeles Dodgers (27-16) Wednesday at Dodger Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Twins vs. Dodgers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Series tied 1-1

The Twins picked up a 5-1 victory as +175 underdogs Tuesday and handed LHP Clayton Kershaw a rare loss at home as the Under (7.5) cashed. Kershaw hadn’t lost at home in the regular season since June 16, 2021, but the southpaw likely had his mind elsewhere, as his mother sadly passed away 3 days ago.

The Dodgers outlasted the Twins 9-8 in 12 innings in the series opener on Monday, as the teams combined for 24 hits. 3B Max Muncy smacked 2 home runs and had 3 RBIs and shares the MLB lead with 14 homers on the season.

  • Road splits this season: 1-0, 2.40 ERA (15 IP, 4 ER), .237 OBA in 3 starts

May (4-1, 2.68 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 0.94 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9, 6.1 K/9 in 47 IP innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 3 K in a 4-2 home win vs. the San Diego Padres Friday

Twins at Dodgers picks and predictions

Prediction

Dodgers 3, Twins 2

Moneyline

The DODGERS (-140) are a decent play as moderate favorites.

While Gray has been nearly unhittable for the Twins this season, Minnesota is 0-2 in his previous 2 outings against the Cubs and Cleveland Guardians. While the Twins are 5-3 in his past 8 outings, 2 of those victories are against the lowly Kansas City Royals.

Toss in the fact that May has served up just 1 homer in his 47 innings and has a .171 OBA and this should be a low-scoring game in favor of the home side.

Run line/Against the spread

The TWINS +1.5 (-165) aren’t priced out of line if you like Gray and the visitors but would like a little bit of insurance.

Minnesota has covered the run line in both of the first 2 games in the series, including the outright win Tuesday.

Over/Under

The UNDER 8.5 (+100) is the best play on the board with 2 pitchers having All-Star caliber seasons and posting WHIPs around 1.00.

There is a slight concern with a 9-12 mph wind to straightaway center field, but May has allowed just 1 homer all season and Gray hasn’t allowed a homer in 45 1/3 IP this season.

The Under is 4-1 in the past 5 on the road for the Twins while going 4-1 in the past 5 overall for the Dodgers.

Twins at Dodgers picks and predictions

Prediction

Dodgers 6, Twins 3

Moneyline

AVOID.

Los Angeles (-200) should hit, but the risk here is not worth the reward at such a steep line. Bet on the run line and/or O/U instead.

Run line/Against the spread

LEAN DODGERS -1.5 (+100).

Only 3 of the last 10 meetings between these teams finished with a 1-run margin, but that stretch spans nearly a decade. Los Angeles has dominated Minnesota recently, going 11-0 in the last 11 meetings overall and 7-0 in the last 7 meetings in L.A. The Dodgers should be a pretty safe bet to cover here.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET OVER 7.5 (-115).

The Over is 4-0 in Minnesota’s last 4 games overall, 4-0 in its last 4 on grass, and 4-0 in its last 4 interleague games.

The Over is 4-0-1 in Los Angeles’ last 5 interleague home games and is 5-0-1 in the last 6 meetings between these teams in L.A. and 5-1-2 in the last 8 meetings overall.

RHP Pablo López vs. RHP Noah Syndergaard

López (2-2, 3.47 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 1.07 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 11.3 K/9 in  49 1/3 innings.

  • Last outing: No-decision, 6 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 4 BB, 8 K in a 4-3 win in extra innings vs. San Diego Padres Wednesday

Twins at Dodgers picks and predictions

Prediction

Dodgers 4, Twins 3

Moneyline

BET DODGERS (-120).

While the Twins are starting the better pitcher, the Dodgers are playing their best baseball of the season and are 13-2 in their last 15 games. Dodger Stadium is a tough place to win for visiting teams and Los Angeles is 68-23 in its last 91 home games vs. right-handed starters. Minnesota is just 1-5 in its last 6 interleague road games and has not won in Los Angeles since June 11, 2005.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

Los Angeles +1.5 (-190) should hit, but there is no need to pay the higher price on the run line when the Dodgers should win straight up. Bet the moneyline and/or the total instead.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8.5 (+100).

The Under is 6-2 in Minnesota’s last 8 games and 7-2 in its last 9 vs. teams with a winning record.

The Under has hit in 4 of Los Angeles’ last 5 games and should cash again Monday as Minnesota’s offense regresses toward the mean after back-to-back impressive performances vs. Chicago.

Twins at Dodgers projected starters

RHP Sonny Gray vs. RHP Ryan Pepiot

Gray is 6-3 with a 3.19 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 8.4 K/9 in 79 IP over 16 starts.

  • Last start: No-decision in Minnesota’s 9-3 home loss to the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday with 5 scoreless IP, 1 H, 5 BB and 5 K
  • 2021 vs. the Dodgers: 0-2 with a 3.86 ERA (11 2/3 IP, 5 ER), 8 H, 1 HR, 5 BB and 16 K in 2 starts pitching for the Cincinnati Reds

Pepiot is 1-0 with a 2.76 ERA (16 1/3 IP, 5 ER), 10 H, 1 HR, 12 BB and 19 K across 4 starts in his rookie season.

  • Last start: Won 5-2 at home vs. the Colorado Rockies July 5 with 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB and 6 K
  • Pepiot is L.A.’s 5th-ranked prospect according to FanGraphs and got called up after Clayton Kershaw went on the IL.

Twins at Dodgers picks and predictions

Prediction

Dodgers 6, Twins 3

Money line

LEAN on “flat-betting” the DODGERS (-190) because I’d rather L.A.’s RL at a plus-money payout.

But, the Dodgers are MLB’s best team and have won 26 of their last 30 games. Also, L.A. has one of the better farm systems in baseball so Pepiot being one of the Dodgers’ top prospects inspires confidence.

I’d endorse a half-unit bet on the BET DODGERS (-190) or a bigger wager on their RL.

Run line/Against the spread

BET DODGERS -1.5 (+115) since they’ve rolled the Twins +1.5 (-140) in all 3 meetings this season and L.A. is 34-20 RL as home favorites. Also, all 9 of the Dodgers’ victories on their current win streak have been by at least 2 runs.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 9.5 (+110) because Gray has bounced back nicely this season after a couple of down-years in Cincy and Pepiot has elite stuff.

But, the Twins are 10-6 O/U in Gray starts and 17-7-1 O/U as road underdogs and L.A.’s lineup has the 2nd-best WAR and wRC+ over the past 14 days, per FanGraphs.
