Since I like Denver, I certainly would consider taking the points as insurance. But no need to pay the juice; if you like Denver to win just play the moneyline for a better value.

The line for 1st 2 games was set at 209.5 and both games went Under. Since then the books dropped it to 205 and the next 3 games went Over (and 2 of those totals were below 209.5).

While the current line is 203.5, I think 4 straight Overs will be tough to hit since both teams should be playing desperately.

PASS.

This series is over in my mind because Minnesota losing both of those home games after being up 2-0 has to be completely mentally demoralizing. The Nuggets will step on their throats Tuesday night. but I’ll save my wager for the spread.

Against the spread

I don’t know how the Timberwolves mentally recover after blowing the series lead. The Nuggets won and covered in both of the games in Minnesota. You know what you are going to get from Jokic, but Gordon has been a man possessed on both ends of the court.

Edwards has been fantastic in this series but he cannot carry this team singlehandedly which was proven on Sunday night. He needs someone else to step up on the offensive end of the court.

BET NUGGETS -4.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Both games at Ball Arena went Under and both games at Target Center went Over the total. If I had a lean, it’d be the Under but neither team really excels at going Over the total. Minnesota was basically .500 for the season while the Nuggets were Under 16 more times than Over.

The Nuggets are starting to show signs of life in this series after a 117-90 road victory in Game 3 Friday. Denver won straight up as a 3.5-point underdog and did most of the heavy lifting to help the Over (205.5) hit.

C Nikola Jokic and G Jamal Murray each had 24 points for the Nuggets, who can regain home-court advantage with a victory Sunday.

Minnesota’s 90 points in Friday’s loss was its lowest scoring output since an 89-88 setback against the LA Clippers March 3. The Over/Under for points scored by G Anthony Edwards was set at 27.5, and he finished with 19 after taking just 15 shots (8 for 15).

While I like the Nuggets (+125) at these odds, it’s tough to fade the Timberwolves (-150) in back-to-back home games. What we do know is that Minnesota’s No. 1-ranked defense should bounce back after getting blown out, and in a close, low-scoring game, this may just come down to which team gets the final possession.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

The defending NBA champs were grossly undervalued by the market heading into Friday. They went from 7.5-point favorites in Game 2 to 3.5-point underdogs in Game 3. That 11-point swing was way too drastic, even when accounting for change of venue.

The Nuggets have barely been upgraded since Friday’s win, and I believe that’s a mistake.

Minnesota is a young team, and its best player, Edwards, is just 22 years old. The Timberwolves faced zero adversity in a 4-game sweep of the Phoenix Suns in the 1st round. They now have to deal with the pressure of potentially giving home-court advantage back to the defending champs.

I’ll put my money on the veterans who have proven that they can win multiple playoff series.

BET NUGGETS +2.5 (-105).

Over/Under

The Under has hit in 2 of the 3 games this series, and Minnesota’s NBA-best defense should look much better after allowing 117 points in Game 3.

This is a pivotal game in the sense that a Timberwolves victory would put them just 1 win away from the conference finals and a Nuggets upset would give them back home court. Look for both teams to play conservatively and slow down the pace.

It’s hard to believe that the defending NBA champs will go down 3-0 in this series even if they have to pull one out on the road. Don’t get me wrong, it won’t be easy, but I believe Jokic wills them to a win Friday night. They played about as bad as they could possibly play in Game 2 Monday and that won’t happen 2 games in a row.

I like getting Denver with the juicy plus-odds to just get the victory.

Against the spread

PASS.

I’m going to stay away from the spread in this one. I’d rather put my wager on the moneyline with those plus-odds. But if you prefer taking insurance with the +4.5 points, I get it.

Over/Under

This 204.5 O/U line is just too low to pass on. These 2 teams have gone Under the total in 3 of their last 4 matchups but all those games had totals around 210 or more.

After getting held to 80 points Monday, Denver will come out firing in this one. No way the Nuggets shoot as bad as they did in the last game again (29-for-83; 34.9%).
