On Thursday, the NBA revealed that the guard would be suspended four games for his antics with Indiana fans and the said ESPN media member. It’s not entirely clear how the league came to the conclusion that Beverley got four games. For example, Jamal Murray threw objects near a referee and technically didn’t get anything but a substantial fine.
It is nonetheless a well-deserved punishment for someone who dangerously threw things at fans and made all the wrong headlines in a nationally televised spot.
The real rub of this suspension is that Beverley’s contract with the Bucks is up. He is set to be an unrestricted free agent at the age of 35. Given his age, how little he contributes on offense, and some of his approach to “professionalism,” it’s hard seeing any team chomping at the bit to add an older Beverley to their mix.
On that note, and I really mean this in all seriousness — at least he has more time to focus on trying to get more brazen podcast subscriptions.
The season might be over for Milwaukee Bucks guard and Notre Dame legend [autotag]Pat Connaghton[/autotag], but he still is winning at life. Ryan Gareis, Connaughton’s fiancee and a player for the NWSL’s Houston Dash, has announced on Instagram that the two have become parents after the birth of their son Crew Leo. Look at this post and say these two aren’t thrilled to have a baby:
Not only is this kid is going to have some serious athletic genes, but he will have some loving parents to bring him up. While they will continue to be professional athletes for as long as they are able, he will be their top priority from now on. You can see the love in their eyes.
So congratulations to the happy couple as they embark on this next stage of life’s journey. Some things are more important than sports, and this is a perfect demonstration of that.

For the second straight season, the Milwaukee Bucks have been eliminated in the first round of the NBA playoffs. That means Notre Dame alumnus [autotag]Pat Connaughton[/autotag] will have to wait at least another year to see if he can repeat the championship glory he did with the Bucks in 2021.
During the Bucks’ six-game first-round loss to the Indiana Pacers, for which they were without the injured Giannis Antetokounmpo, Connaughton averaged 4.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists a game. His best contest came when the Bucks held off elimination in Game 5, the second of two straight games missed by Damian Lillard. Connaughton had nine points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in over 31 minutes.
Connaughton is signed with the Bucks for next season and has a player option for the season after. He’ll hope his play in 2024-25 will be enough to have that option picked up. In the meantime, here are some photos from his play during his brief playoff stay this year:
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Adams had this to say on Friday: “I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support. I am humbled. Patrick Beverley just called me and apologized. I appreciate it and accept it. The Bucks also reached out to apologize. I’ve been in news for over 40 years and kindness and grace always win.”
Well said. That came as current and former colleagues posted their support for her as well:
I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support. I am humbled. Patrick Beverley just called me and apologized. I appreciate it and accept it. The Bucks also reached out to apologize. I've been in news for over 40 years and kindness and grace always win.
Veteran producer Malinda Adams happens to be one of the most respected and professional people we have at ESPN. Bev, you’re going to have to make a couple apologies for stuff tonight. https://t.co/KdQ0VuGoyg
That's Malinda Adams, ESPN legend. He's not a big deal. She is. From Saban to LeBron, she's covered the best ever. He ain't that. But I'm sure his podcast is. Lol pic.twitter.com/s3Rt4ws8EZ
As a young producer here at ESPN, Malinda has been so great to work with and learn from. She's one of the best teammates you could ever have, is always supportive of creative ideas and is one of the top people I trust. This is beyond disrespectful and we're all in her corner! https://t.co/UBtwfa9tZd
Just so y’all know, the beautiful soul to whom he directed this foolishness is Malinda Adams, who is among the kindest, hardest-working, best, most-respected people in ALL of media — not just at ESPN — and the dearest of friends to all of her friends. https://t.co/3af7qejtoi
First the disrespect to Michele Roberts in the NBA Bubble in front of other NBA players and now this… He is who he is. Respect to stellar veteran producer Malinda Adams for her professionalism through that silliness. https://t.co/MLkHm2wfTQ
The Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers last night in the first round NBA’s Eastern Conference playoffs. As things were spiraling on the scoreboard for the Bucks, they took an even worse turn on the bench.
Bucks point guard Patrick Beverley was clearly disturbed by the happenings of the game as I’m sure the home crowd Pacers fans were letting him hear it. He decided to whip a basketball into the stands at a group of fans while having to be restrained by teammates.
A short video of the clip is posted below. In it be sure to watch former Notre Dame star Pat Connaughton who seemingly could not have cared less about any of the happenings around him.

Gooood morning, Winners! Happy Friday! Welcome back to the Morning Win. Thank you so much for rocking with us today.
We all know what sore losing looks like, right? There’s always that one person in your life who just never handles it well. I’m talking about the type of person who turns the PlayStation off instead of taking that L in NBA 2K. The person who flips the Monopoly board over instead of going to jail.
But there’s sore losing, and then there’s Patrick Beverley.
Beverley decided to go beyond being just a sore loser after the Bucks got bounced out of the playoffs. He decided to spend what will undoubtedly be his final moments as a Milwaukee Buck by punching down.
Somehow, the moment he was caught firing the ball back at a fan wasn’t his worst of the night. Shortly after that, in the Bucks locker room, he decided he wasn’t going to talk to an ESPN producer who was just quite literally doing her job. And, in good faith, she expected him to do his because that’s what adults do.
Instead, Beverley acted like a petulant child. He asked her if she subscribed to his podcast. She said no, she doesn’t. He told her she couldn’t talk to him if she wasn’t a subscriberand then he shoved her mic out of the scrum.
Patrick Beverley: "You subscribed to my pod?"
Reporter: "I do not."
Pat Bev: "You can't interview me then. No disrespect."
*A moment later to the reporter*
Pat: "Can you move that mic please or just get out the circle please?"
Look, man. If you don’t want to talk to the media? Cool. I’m not the type to hem and haw over players skipping out on their availability. Good journalists get the job done anyway, as I’m sure the producer there did.
But to single someone out like this? To attempt to embarrass her simply for not subscribing to a silly podcast? That’s rude. It’s completely out of line. There’s no other way to put it.
And, to be quite frank, who does Patrick Beverley think he is? First of all, that little podcast ain’t even good enough for him to demand someone be subscribed before talking to him. If this is a strategy to drive up subscriptions? Whew, buddy. That reeks of desperation. You might as well beg.
Second, is Patrick Beverley even good enough at his job to pull this off? Look. I’m not trying to disrespect an NBA player. Beverley is good enough to be in that league, which is an accomplishment on its own.
Sore losing is one thing. This is another. It’s just Patrick Beverley being a complete jerk to someone who doesn’t deserve it. I hope he realizes that and apologizes.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a 2-seed vs. 7-seed matchup as good as the Pacers-Knicks series was. It was basically nip-and-tuck all the way through. It’s remarkable how close this series was.
I mean that literally. According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the final scoring margin of this six-game series was just a single point, folks. One. That’s it. That’s all.
Final combined scoring margin over 6 games: Knicks by 1.
The Sixers were better than a No. 7 seed. With Embiid healthy, they were clearly one of the best three teams in the East. This was more like a No. 2 vs. No. 3 seed matchup than anything. It’s a shame we got this series so early in the playoffs.
I’m grateful for it, though. We’ll never forget this one. I just wish we could’ve gotten one more game. Speaking of one more game …
Toronto survives
The Maple Leafs just barely eked out a 2-1 win over the Bruins to force a decisive Game 7.
I know how stressful this must be for both Bruins fans and Leafs fans. But, I’m sorry, this is incredibly entertaining for the rest of us. The stakes are so high with this one!
Both of these teams are fighting demons right now.
The Bruins are coming off an embarrassing playoff loss last year where the team blew a 3-1 lead to the Panthers last year.
Meanwhile, Toronto is playing a Game 7 in Boston for the fourth time in 11 years. They’ve lost the previous three.
Something has to give here, obviously. I’m sure the Bruins would love nothing more than to advance here and see the Panthers again to avenge last year’s embarrassment. But the pressure will be on.
Photo Friday: We got a poster!
Joel Embiid, meet OG Anunoby. OG Anunoby, meet the rim. What a dunk.

When you build your entire team and championship window around a two-superstar model, you cannot lose them and expect to survive. Without Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks lost Game 6 of their first-round series in the 2024 NBA playoffs to the Indiana Pacers, 120-98, and are thus eliminated.
Top-heaviness is unavoidable, as are injuries at times. And in defense of the supporting cast, they did not fold or get completely exposed, especially in Game 5, when they were able to pull out the win without both of their Hall-of-Famers.
Nevertheless, the ending of the Bucks’ season is not the whole story. The journey to that end was not the smoothest, and the fan who says that they expected – or accept – that trading Jrue Holiday and change for Lillard last summer only to yield a first-round exit is not being honest with themselves. The Bucks have work to do on the roster, and because of the Lillard move, they have not the assets (be it in terms of draft capital or salary flexibility) to make another one.
With that in mind, here follows a look at the Milwaukee Bucks’ roster and spending heading into the 2024 NBA offseason.
Emotions looked to have gotten the best of Minnesota Bucks guard Patrick Beverley during Thursday night’s first-round road Game 6 against the Indiana Pacers.
With the Bucks down 10 points with about two-and-a-half minutes to go in the game, the game broadcast shows Beverley chuck a basketball at a Pacers fan in the stands, seemingly in frustration.
While we’re not sure exactly what prompted Beverley to engage with a fan in such a forceful way, there is no world where the league doesn’t respond swifty to one of its players seemingly getting aggressive with a spectator.
Additional context will be key to understanding what exactly we’re watching, but the optics aren’t great for Beverley and Milwaukee in the slightest.
Of course, it’s also possible the fan in question might also suffer some sort of consequence if they provoked Beverley in a way that violates spectator conduct policies.
The Bucks’ season ended with a 120-98 loss in Game 6 and a 4-2 series loss overall, so any possible response against Beverley from the league will likely impact the start to next season.
For now, we’ll have to see exactly what caused this and what the league decides to do about it.
Tyrese Haliburton is so unimpressed by Bucks fans.
In a playoff series that has been relegated to NBA TV, it sure seems like the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers are already getting very chippy with each other. And after Indiana tied the series on Tuesday night, star guard Tyrese Haliburton added more fuel to the fire as both teams now shift to Indianapolis for the next two games.
While talking about how excited he is to play in front of a Pacers’ playoff crowd, Haliburton proclaimed that the Milwaukee home postseason crowd has been weaker through two games than a standard Indiana regular-season game.
Oh, man. What a brutal parting shot to Bucks fans after tying the series:
"We've had regular season crowds better than what we've played in the last two games." 🍿
There’s bulletin board material; then there’s throwing a canister of gas on a roaring flame. Haliburton probably just did the latter. I cannot wait for Game 3 of this series on Friday night. Get your popcorn ready, folks.
