Wisconsin CB Jay Shaw named in ON3’s most impactful DB transfers of 2022

UCLA transfer CB Jay Shaw lands in ON3’s 15 most impactful DB transfers of 2022:

On Monday morning, ON3 writer Mike Huguenin ranked the 15 most impactful defensive back transfers of 2022. Wisconsin CB Jay Shaw was ranked as the No. 6 most impactful DB transfer because of his exceptional play for UCLA last season.

In his final year for the Bruins, Shaw was a full-time starter and finished with 27 total tackles, four pass deflections, three interceptions and a forced fumble. The Corona, Calif., native will likely make an immediate impact as a starter for the Badgers after the graduation of Caesar Williams and Faion Hicks.

I am excited to see what Shaw can do in his first year with the Badgers, and his experience will be crucial in helping to lead Wisconsin’s young secondary this season.

On3 ranks Notre Dame outside their preseason Top-10?!?

No respect for the Irish…

Another day, another preseason poll, but this is one is significantly different than what USA TODAY AFCA Coaches Poll or the AP had. On3, a newly created college sports and recruiting website recently released their preseason rankings of every team in the country.

What one might expect to see is that Notre Dame would be ranked in the lower portion of the top 10, not completely outside of it. Mike Huguenin ranked the Irish 13th overall, citing the offense as their main concern. “The Irish are going to miss Ian Book and the offensive line is undergoing almost a complete makeover,” explained Huguenin.

Honestly, preseason polls don’t matter much. Every year there is turnover on collegiate teams and its an educated guess as to who will be good. It would have been nice to see Notre Dame getting ranked higher than 13th, but like every other season, the Irish will have to prove their worth on the field and not in a preseason guess.
