Michigan at Indiana picks and predictions

Prediction

Indiana 76, Michigan 72

Moneyline

PASS.

Even though Indiana is expected to secure the victory, taking the Hoosiers at the current odds (-200) isn’t worth doing in a straight-up bet.

Against the spread

MICHIGAN +4.5 (-110) is the pick in this game with how competitive it has been recently. The Wolverines have lost by 5 points or fewer in each of their last 3 losses.

Michigan is 4-0 ATS in its last 4 games overall, while Indiana is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games overall.

Over/Under

OVER 144.5 (-105) is the lean in this Big Ten matchup with both teams averaging 70-plus possessions per game. Indiana also converts 49.1% of its shots from the field (12th in the nation) and 37.8% of its 3-point attempts (25th in the nation), which should help the Over hit.

The Wolverines are 3-1 to the Over in their last 4 games overall, and the Hoosiers have gone Over in 4 of their last 5 games following an ATS loss.

Michigan at Indiana odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Michigan at Indiana odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Michigan Wolverines (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) square off against the Indiana Hoosiers (3-2, 1-1) Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is at noon ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Michigan vs. Indiana odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Wolverines are 1 of just 3 teams that remain undefeated in the Big Ten after taking down Iowa 27-14 last week. RB Blake Corum is making a case to be a Heisman candidate this year with 611 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns in the first 5 games of the season.

The Hoosiers got off to a hot start to the season by winning their first 3 games. However, Indiana has lost 2 straight games and now faces an uphill battle for the rest of the season with Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State still on the schedule.

Michigan is the No. 4 ranked team in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Michigan at Indiana picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan 44, Indiana 17

Moneyline

Just AVOID taking the moneyline in this game as Michigan should be able to cruise to a victory on the road against Indiana. However, the odds for the Wolverines are at a point where the risk isn’t worth the return.

Against the spread

MICHIGAN -22.5 (-112) is the ideal choice in this game if you’re betting the spread. The Wolverines should be able to control the time of possession with their rushing attack led by Corum and QB J.J. McCarthy will play mistake-free football again Saturday.

Michigan is 4-0 ATS in its last 4 road games against a team with a winning record and 6-1 ATS in its last 7 conference games. Meanwhile, Indiana is 1-10 ATS in its last 11 games following an ATS loss and 1-7 ATS in its last 8 home games.

Over/Under

One might think to take the Under in this game due to Michigan likely leaning on its ground game to control the time of possession. The thing is, the Wolverines should have plenty of success running the ball and they’ll do enough through the air to help OVER 59 (-108) hit against the Hoosiers.

The Over has hit in 9 out of the last 10 games for Indiana when it’s going up against a team with a winning record at home. Also, the Over has hit in each of the last 5 meetings between the Wolverines and the Hoosiers when the game takes place in Indiana.

Below, we analyze the Michigan-Indiana odds and lines, with NCAA college basketball picks and predictions.

Five Big Ten teams are ranked in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. Three – Michigan, No. 4 Illinois and No. 5 Ohio State – are in the top five.

  • Over/Under: 138.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Michigan at Indiana: Three things to know

  1. Michigan has won its last 6 in a row, including recent back-to-back victories over ranked teams. The Wolverines claimed a huge victory at Ohio State 92-87 last Sunday as 1.5-point road favorites and shut down No. 12 Iowa 79-57 Thursday as 5-point home favorites. Behind freshman C Hunter Dickinson, who leads the Wolverines in points (14.9 points per game), rebounds (7.8 RPG) and blocks (1.7 BPG), they’re likely headed to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
  2. Indiana has looked pathetic as of late, dropping 2 in a row and 3 of 4. It’s been so bad that some IU fans are calling for the firing of head coach Archie Miller. The Hoosiers started out on fire in their past two games only to fall flat after building double-digit leads. In a 78-71 home loss to Michigan State Feb. 20, Indiana opened with a 21-10 run but was outscored 52-41 in the second half. At Rutgers Wednesday, IU led 23-8 after the first 10:18 only to trail 35-31 at the break. Sophomore F Trayce Jackson-Davis leads the Hoosiers with 20.3 PPG, 9.5 RPG and 1.5 BPG.
  3. This is the only regular-season meeting between the two rivals. Michigan has won the last 7 in the series, including an 89-65 rout as an 8.5-point home favorite in their only matchup last season.

Against the spread (ATS)

MICHIGAN -8.5 (-115) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. Michigan is a much better shooting team, hitting 50% from the field (ranking 13th in the country), 39.1% behind the 3-point line (ranking 12th) and 76.8% at the foul line (30th).

IU shoots 44.4% from the field (162nd), 35.0% from the 3-point arc (117th) and a miserable 66.5% from the line (294th).

Plus, Indiana’s bigs won’t be able to stop Dickinson, who should have a field day on the boards.

ATS: Michigan 14-4 | Indiana 12-10-1

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 138.5 (-110) is the play. While the Hoosiers struggle shooting the ball, at least they’re at home where the O/U is 5-1 in their last 6 games.

Expect Michigan to open up a big lead, which should trigger plenty of garbage points down the stretch.

O/U records: Michigan 8-10 | Indiana 13-9-1
