Michigan State football controls Western Kentucky, wins 48-31

Michigan State improves to 5-0 with a win over upset-minded Western Kentucky

Michigan State fended off a Western Kentucky upset attempt, taking control of the game early and never letting up, winning 48-31.

Michigan State got the scoring started when they forced a Hilltopper 3 and out and on the ensuing punt, Jayden Reed returned it 88 yards for a touchdown. Another touchdown by Reed and Kenneth Walker finding the end zone would put the Spartans up 21-10 at the end of the first quarter.

The Spartans offensive explosion carried over into the second quarter, when the Spartans put up 21 more points behind Walker’s rushing attack. The Spartans would take a 42-16 lead into halftime.

The second half saw MSU fend off several Western Kentucky comeback attempts, while managing the game. The Spartans would eventually come away with a 48-31 victory.

Payton Thorne lead the way through the air, completing 20-of-30 passes for 327 yards and a touchdown. Kenneth Walker was the leading rusher, leading the Spartans with 126 yards, and Jalen Nailor led the way receiving with 8 catches for 128 yards.

Michigan State travels to Piscataway, New Jersey, next week for a date with Rutgers.

Jayden Reed is a playmaker. Last week, Jayden Reed scored a game-tying touchdown against Nebraska on a punt return, showing his electricity.

This week, Jayden Reed started the game against Western Kentucky with a bang. After a three and out, Reed received a punt at the MSU 8 yard line and then took it to the house for the first score of the game.

Jayden Reed continues to show Michigan State fans how much of a playmaker he can really be.

Michigan State football unveils new uniform combination for game against Western Kentucky

Gruff Sparty is back!

It is that time of the week, when Michigan State football takes to Twitter to unveil the uniform combination that they will be wearing for the upcoming Saturday.

This is a tradition many Spartan fans have grown to love and get very excited for.

For this week’s game against Western Kentucky, Michigan State is unveiling a new uniform combo that fans are sure going to love.

Michigan State is bringing back Gruff Sparty, and this time, on a white helmet. The fan-favorite logo will be on a white helmet with a green jersey and white pants.

Michigan State is off to a 4-0 start and is ranked inside the top-20, something not many fans expected heading into the month of October.

Coming off of an overtime victory against Nebraska, Tucker will be leading his Spartans against the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky this Saturday.
