MSU drops close rivalry game at Michigan

A disapointing result occured in Ann Arbor on Saturday night when the Michigan State Spartans dropped their annual rivalry matchup to Michigan, 24-17.

A day that saw the Spartans jump out to the early start and lead, ended with the Spartans trailing an unable to come back in the matchup.

One of the few bright spots for MSU was Nathan Carter, who by far showed his best game of the season going for 19 carries and 118 yards, while catching 2 passes for 56 yards.

The Spartans will be back in action next weekend, at home, facing an undefeated Indiana team.

Michigan State women’s soccer came into Saturday as the No. 5 team in the nation, with an undefeated record that they looked to keep undefeated when they played against their arch rival Michigan. In front of a sell out crowd, MSU was able to take care of their business, defeating the Wolverines 1-0.

The golden goal for the Spartans came at the foot of Justina Gaynor, who netted a penalty kick goal at the 75:16 mark in the game.

Michigan State sells out women’s soccer game against Michigan

Michigan State women’s soccer sold out DeMartin Stadium ahead of the Spartans clash with rival Michigan.

Michigan State’s women’s soccer program is currently one of the best in the nation. The Spartans head coach Jeff Hosler has the team rolling, and Spartan nation is starting to take notice.

Coming in with an undefeated 8-0-4 record, the Spartans played host to rival Michigan on Saturday night inside of DeMartin Stadium. Spartan nation showed out, selling out the stadium, with standing room only being the last available options.

According to one analyst, MSU vs UM is not a top ten rivalry in college basketball:

Andy Katz is known for his work as one of the top analysts in college basketball. Katz, a reporter directly for the NCAA and the Big Ten Network, polarizes the community with some of his lists and he has done it once again.

While ranking the top ten rivalries in college basketball, Katz did not include the rivalry between Michigan State and Michigan, which has been one of the sports best.

Michigan State field hockey to be featured on Big Ten Network

MSU field hockey will be featured on Big Ten Network this season

The Big Ten Network has released their TV schedule in which they will be featuring field hockey games. BTN has announced that they will be airing seven games featuring the nine participating schools in the conference.

Michigan State fans can watch their field hockey team on BTN on Mon., Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. ET. The Spartans will face Michigan in East Lansing.

Big rivalry week ahead for Michigan State baseball

MSU has a pair of huge rivals on deck this week:

Michigan State baseball is getting ready to take on one of their biggest weeks in the 2024 season. The Spartans have a pair of rivals on deck that they will look to take down.

First, on Tuesday, Michigan State will host Notre Dame who comes in 22-20 (7-17 ACC) on the season.

Next, the big weekend is up for the Spartans. MSU will host arch-rival Michigan for a 3-game weekend series. The Wolverines currently sit at 23-21 (10-5 B1G).

MSU, in their own regard, sit at 19-21 (8-7 B1G) heading into the huge week.

The Michigan State soccer program program has made significant strides under Damon Rensing and have become a consistent program in the Big Ten.

As the team prepares for their 2024 season, they are going through a spring schedule to better enhance themselves. Within that spring schedule, the Spartans welcomed in their rivals, Michigan.

Michigan State defeated Michigan on the pitch, 3-0.

Michigan State hockey goalie Trey Augustine named Big Ten Tournament MVP

Trey Augustine is the Big Ten Tournament’s MVP:

Michigan State hockey capped their Big Ten Tournament run with an overtime thrilling victory over archrival Michigan on Saturday night.

The Spartans, as they have been all season long, were led by freshman goaltender Trey Augustine. Augustine has a long list of accolades, ranging from USA world juniors gold medal winner, to all conference player and he now gets to add another one to the list.

Augustine was named the MVP of the Big Ten Tournament following the Spartans Big Ten Tournament championship game win.
