Michigan State at Michigan odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Michigan State at Michigan odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Michigan State Spartans (3-4, 1-3 Big Ten) square off against the No. 4 Michigan Wolverines (7-0, 4-0) Saturday at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Michigan State vs. Michigan odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Spartans began the season with 2 straight wins before suffering 4 straight losses, including 3 conference losses to Ohio State (49-20), Maryland (27-13) and Minnesota (34-7). Michigan State bounced back 2 weeks ago with a 34-28 double-overtime win over Wisconsin, covering the spread as a 7-point underdog.

The Wolverines continue to look like one of the best teams in the nation after steamrolling then-No. 10 Penn State 41-17 in their last game 2 weeks ago. Michigan will look to snap a 2-game losing streak to Michigan State Saturday in front of its home crowd.

Michigan State at Michigan picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan 45, Michigan State 17

Moneyline

AVOID the moneyline in this game as you shouldn’t even consider wagering on Michigan (-2000) to win straight up. The Wolverines are more than capable of defeating this iteration of the Spartans, but the minuscule return you’ll receive if Michigan wins isn’t worth the risk.

Against the spread

Michigan State has found ways to keep it close with Michigan, but this feels like a year where coach Jim Harbaugh’s team imposes its will on its rivals. WOLVERINES -23.5 (-108) is where I’ll lean in this game as the Spartans won’t have an answer for RB Blake Corum and they’ll turn the ball over a couple of times, leading to more points for Michigan.

The Wolverines are 4-3 ATS overall this season and are 3-2 ATS at home.

Over/Under

Give me the OVER 55.5 (-107) with the Wolverines capable of scoring most of the points themselves. Michigan put up 41 points on a Penn State defense 2 weeks ago that allowed an average of only 14.8 points per game before taking on the Wolverines.

This feels like a game where the Wolverines run up the score on the Spartans to avenge 2 straight losses against them while Michigan State scores some late points to help us hit the OVER 55.5 (-107).

Michigan State at Michigan odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Michigan State at Michigan odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Michigan State Spartans (13-2) and Michigan Wolverines (7-6) meet Saturday at the Crisler Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at Michigan State vs. Michigan odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Spartans may be entering this game as the ranked team, but don’t tell the sportsbooks that as they still have them listed as underdogs.

Michigan State is still undefeated (4-0) in conference play and has yet to lose a true road game. The home team in this matchup has won the last five times.

As for Michigan, they’ll look to continue that trend. While having had a disappointing season, they’re 4-2 at home, far better than their 1-3 road record.

Michigan at North Carolina odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan State 72, Michigan 69

Money line

The Spartans have only lost two games this season, their season opener against Kansas and a high-profile matchup with Baylor. Other than that, they’ve dominated opponents.

The Spartans are led by senior forward Gabe Brown. Michigan State has shown far more all season, but they’ve done their best defensive work against other big men.

They held Kansas big David McCormack to 10 points. Limiting C Hunter Dickenson, the Wolverines’ leading scorer, will be a huge key for the Spartans.

Also, the Wolverines are great at defending the three but allow opponents to top 48% from two-point range. The Spartans shoot almost 40 two-point field goals per game and have shot over 50% on the season from deep.

Combine it all, and I’ll BET on MICHIGAN STATE +120 behind Tom Izzo.

Against the spread

PASS on the spread. For the mere 2.5 points, I’d rather take the Spartans at plus-money odds.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 142.5 (-108).

This matchup, as is normal with big-time rivalries, typically trends lower. Four of the last six battles between these two teams would’ve gone under this projected total.

This line opened at 143.5 per pregame.com, insinuating either there’s reverse-line movement or that the public is betting on the Under, which has dropped the total.

Previewing Thursday’s Michigan State at Michigan odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Michigan State Spartans (14-10 overall, 8-10 Big Ten) visit the Michigan Wolverines (18-2, 13-2) in a Thursday evening (7 p.m. ET) contest at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. Below, we analyze the Michigan State-Michigan odds and lines, with NCAA college basketball picks and predictions.

Michigan is No. 2 in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Michigan State at Michigan: Three things to know

  1. The Spartans are coming off a Tuesday home win against Indiana and are 4-1 in their last five games. F Aaron Henry led Michigan State with 22 points in the game against the Hoosiers. In the team’s 4-1 surge, Henry has averaged 19.6 points per game.
  2. Michigan is coming off a surprising Tuesday home loss to Illinois. The Wolverines were routed by the Illini, 76-53, in a contest that saw the visiting five outshoot the Maize & Blue, 47% to 35%. Illinois maintained a double-digit lead for the final 17 minutes.
  3. Illinois’ 47% mark from the field stands as a rarity against what has been a strong UM defense. Michigan has held opposing teams to an NCAA-I-best 38.8% mark for the season.

Michigan State at Michigan: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Michigan 76, Michigan State 62

Money line (ML)

Look for a senior-led Wolverines squad to solidly bounce back from Tuesday’s loss. UM’s blind spot looks to be fast-paced, turnover-transition teams. That does not fit MSU’s game at all.

TAKE MICHIGAN -650.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

On what figures as a slightly low total, PASS on the double-digit spread.

Over/Under (O/U)

Both sides play at a slower-than-average tempo. A 75-65 game, give or take a bit on either side, figures as a highly likely outlook here. STEER CLEAR of a well-made total.
