MSU Football commit Kristian Phillips now ranked No. 10 offensive guard in the 2022 recruiting class

Michigan State’s first 2022 football commit, Kris Phillips, was ranked the no. 10 guard in the nation by the Rivals network.

Mel Tucker started Michigan State’s 2022 recruiting class with a bang, gaining the commitment from Kristian Phillips, an offensive guard out of Georgia.

Phillips was unranked at the time of his commitment, but that has since changed. The Rivals recruiting network has given Phillips his first ranking from the recruiting services, and he now sits as the no. 10 overall offensive guard in the nation.

Phillips will have this upcoming summer and his senior season to further boost his ranking. Coach Chris Kapilovic identified Phillips early in the process and it is proving to be a big-time get for the Spartans.

Michigan State makes top 8 for highly ranked offensive lineman

4-star IMG Academy offensive lineman Aliou Bah has released his narrowed down top 8 list and the Spartans are included.

Mel Tucker has Michigan State in the thick of another top prospects recruitment. Class of 2022, 4-star offensive lineman Aliou Bah has included Michigan State in his top 8 along with some powerhouse programs.

Bah is originally from Memphis, Tennessee but has moved to Florida to play for the IMG Academy.

Michigan State is included with Florida, Florida State, USC, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Penn State. Another recruit that has a star studded final grouping and the Spartans are apart of it. Mel Tucker is showing how his staff is going to be a major player on the recruiting trail.

Michigan State’s class of 2022 already has two commits, Kristian Phillips and Gavin Broscious, who are both offensive lineman.

Michigan State makes top 5 for coveted linebacker, decision looming

Florida commit Chief Borders is reassessing his choice and will make a final decision on Thanksgiving. The Spartans have made the final cut.

Since the day he arrived, recruiting has been emphasized as a top priority for Mel Tucker and his staff. Spartan fans have seen that emphasis and the impact it has made in a big way with the 2021 recruiting class. Mel Tucker is still on the prowl and has gone into SEC country to try and pull his next target.

Chief Borders is a highly coveted 4-star outside linebacker out of Heard County High School in Carrollton, Georgia. Borders has received some high praise, with some people comparing his play style to Khalil Mack among others. The 6-foot-5, 245 pounder is a menace on the defensive side of the ball with a scary combination of size and speed.

Borders has been committed to the University of Florida since November 2019 but that decision is now in question once again and the final decision will be made Thursday on Thanksgiving.

Michigan State has made the final grouping with a very stacked field including Florida State, LSU, Stanford and current placeholder Florida.

Many believe that Stanford is the current frontrunner to earn the outside linebacker’s talents after his acceptance to the school, although Michigan State is not to be counted out. Chief refers to Coach Tucker as “Uncle Mel” and the coaches relationship with the family dates back to his days at the University of Georgia. That relationship Tucker has with the Borders family has single-handedly kept the Spartans in the race and there is a solid chance Michigan State could be the winners here.

Michigan State Football: Spartans land commitment from 3-star offensive guard

Gavin Broscious has given his pledge to Michigan State. The second member to join the class of 2022 for Mel Tucker’s program.

Michigan State has earned its second commitment of the 2022 class. Head Coach Mel Tucker and offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic have struck again, getting a commitment from another offensive lineman in offensive guard Gavin Broscious.

Broscious is a product of Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Arizona. Gavin is a big-bodied offensive guard standing at 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds. He is projected as an interior offensive lineman, but his versatility to move to tackle if need be is something that the coaching staff surely noticed.

The Spartans fended off other members of Broscious’ top 8 list to earn this commitment, the list included Minnesota, Nebraska, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and Cal. A huge recruiting win for Mel Tucker and his staff.

Broscious is the first Michigan State commit from the state of Arizona since quarterback Brian Lewerke gave his pledge to coach Dantonio in 2015. Broscious is the second member of the 2022 class joining fellow offensive lineman Kristian Phillips.

Michigan State Football: Spartans’ included in lineman’s top 5

3-star lineman Ru’Quan Buckley has included Michigan State into his top 5 list. The Spartans’ are looking to close in on a commitment.

Plan A,  and priority recruit, Ru’Quan Buckley has released his top 5 schools and the Spartans made the cut.

Michigan State was included with Cincinnati, Nebraska, Florida State and Minnesota. Buckley has been recruited to play on both the offensive and defensive line at various schools. It has been reported that Coach Chris Kapilovic is his main recruiter, meaning the need for Buckley on the offensive line in East Lansing.

Buckley is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and attends high school at Godwin Heights in Wyoming, Michigan. Buckley is a highly regarded 3-star prospect, excelling on both sides of the ball. Standing at 6-foot-6 and 280 pounds, Buckley is a force in the trenches.

It is believed to be a two-team race for Buckley’s commitment, with Nebraska being the current clubhouse leader. The Spartans, who are presumed to be the second-place team in the race as of now, are nipping at the heals of Nebraska. Mel Tucker and his staff will continue to make a strong push as this recruitment wraps up.

Buckley has announced that he will make his decision on December 5th.

Michigan State Football: Running back commit Audric Estime earns his fourth star

Michigan State running back commit Audric Estime is having a monster senior season, which has led to earning his fourth star.

There is no secret to Spartan Nation who running back commit Audric Estime is. The product of St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, New Jersey gave his verbal commitment to the Spartans before his senior season started in early September. Since then, the running back has filled Spartan Nation’s Twitter feeds with huge games and crazy highlights, building up quite the hype train.

Estime was already a 4-star prospect according to the Rivals recruiting network but had yet to earn that honor with the 247Sports site or the composite rankings that 247Sports does, compiling the average rankings between the three recruiting ranking websites (247Sports, Rivals and ESPN). 247Sports re-ranked the class of 2021 recruits this past week which saw Audric Estime receive his fourth star in both 247 and the composite rankings.

The now 4-star running back has been tearing it up all season long for the Green Knights, truly having a breakout campaign. Estime has carried the ball 127 times totaling 1,336 yards and finding the endzone 17 times. That is an astounding 10.5 yards per carry and 222.7 yards per game over the six games this season.

Audric will make his way to campus in the fall of 2021, where Spartans hope he will be the next man in the long line of greats at running back that have come through East Lansing.

As the class of 2021’s season is unfolding, many recruits are trying to stand out and propel their teams to a state title.

Another weekend of football has come and gone and the crazy story that is the fall 2020 football season is being told. As the collegiate season is quickly moving along, the high school season is coming to a close in many different places. We have eclipsed the first Friday in November, in what may be the wildest year high school football has ever seen. Some of Michigan State’s commits are still in their regular season, while others are competing in their state playoffs.
