Below, we look at the Michigan State vs. Purdue odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Spartans rocked rival Michigan last week, erasing a 16-point deficit to pull off a 37-33 victory in an instant classic. RB Kenneth Walker III rushed for 197 yards and five touchdowns, including two big fourth-quarter scores to make the difference.

The Boilermakers dumped then-No. 2 Iowa back on Oct. 16 at their place, winning 24-7 as 11-point underdogs as the Under connected. Still, Purdue has been a bit Jekyll and Hyde, alternating wins and losses in the past seven. The Under is 7-1 overall for Purdue this season.

Michigan State at Purdue odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan State 27, Purdue 21

Money line

MICHIGAN STATE (-150) is going to get a stern test, especially since Purdue (+122) has a very strong defense.

Sparty will be facing the 10th-best scoring defense in the nation, as the Boilermakers allow just 17.1 PPG.

If Purdue has an Achilles’ heel on D, however, it might be against the rush. It ranks 55th, yielding 141.6 yards per game on the ground.

The Spartans rank 32nd in the country with 201.8 rushing yards per outing, and they’re also 30th in the country with 34.6 PPG.

Against the spread

The last time MICHIGAN STATE -2.5 (-125) was in the great state of Indiana, it had its hands full against a mediocre Indiana side.

Sparty won that game 20-15 as 3.5-point favorites, covering, but struggling on offense against a rather shabby defense.

But, IU is as weak against the run, as is Purdue. That’s why Michigan State will get it done on the ground, but it won’t be pretty again.

Over/Under

UNDER 52.5 (-108) is the side to play. The Under has connected in four straight for Michigan State as a road favorite while cashing the Under in 12 of the last 17 games overall away from home.

For Purdue, the Under has cashed in eight of the past nine overall, while going 4-1 in the previous five at Ross-Ade.
