CBB analyst Andy Katz has Spartans in final NCAA Tournament bracket prediction

Andy Katz of the Big Ten Network has the Spartans dancing in his final NCAA Tournament bracket prediction

Andy Katz of the Big Ten Network has the Spartans dancing in his final NCAA Tournament bracket prediction.

Katz published his final bracket prediction on Tuesday, which has the Spartans sitting as a No. 9 seed in the West Region. Michigan State would face No. 8 seed Nevada in the first round and then most likely No. 1 seed North Carolina.

Michigan State enters the Big Ten Tournament on the bubble and in need of one more win to most likely lock up a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Even with a loss to Minnesota in Thursday’s second-round matchup, the Spartans could still make the NCAA Tournament but would certainly be right along the cut line.

ESPN Bracketology: MSU basketball still in position to make NCAA Tournament

Despite a recent brutal stretch to end the regular season, MSU is still in a position to reach the NCAA Tournament

Despite a recent brutal stretch to end the regular season, Michigan State is still in a position to reach the NCAA Tournament, according to Joe Lunardi of ESPN.

The Spartans lost four of their final five regular season games — three of which as favorites — and find themselves back on the NCAA Tournament bubble entering the Big Ten Tournament. But Lunardi still apparently feels good about the Spartans’ chances of making the NCAA Tournament.

Lunardi has Michigan State as a No. 9 seed and still a few seed lines above the final four teams in the field of 68. This would suggest that Michigan State would lock up a spot in the NCAA Tournament with a win over Minnesota on Thursday. Even with a loss, Michigan State may still be able to get into the field with a loss to the Golden Gophers too.

The Spartans have moved up in ESPN’s latest bracketology released on Friday.

Michigan State picked up a less-than-impressive victory over Minnesota on Thursday night to improve to 11-7 overall and 3-4 in Big Ten play this year. In Lunardi’s most recent update, the Spartans face a No. 9 seed in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Should they win that figurative matchup, the Spartans would most likely play No. 1 seed Kansas in the second round.
