Report: Chargers set to interview Jim Harbaugh for head coaching vacancy

Jim Harbaugh has indicated there’s a real possibility he could leave Michigan to become the Chargers’ head coach.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Chargers are set to interview Jim Harbaugh next week for the team’s head coaching vacancy.

Rapoport added that Harbaugh has indicated to associates there’s a real possibility he could leave Michigan to become Los Angeles’ head coach.

All the while, Michigan is still making an effort to sign Harbaugh to a contract extension.

This comes a week after Harbaugh led the Wolverines to a national championship win over Washington.

Over the past three seasons, Harbaugh has turned Michigan into a powerhouse in college football. The Wolverines are 40-3, with three Big Ten titles, three College Football Playoff appearances and now a national title in that timespan.

Before joining the college ranks, Harbaugh spent four seasons as the head coach of the 49ers from 2011-14, making the Super Bowl in his second year and finishing with a 44-19-1 record in the regular season and 5-3 in the postseason.
