The Wolverines are coming off a bye week following a 27-17 loss at the Washington Huskies Oct. 5 as 1.5-point underdogs. They are 1-2 against the spread (ATS) in conference games yet 2-1 straight up in those battles. Overall, the Wolverines are a putrid 1-5 ATS on the season.

The Fighting Illini won one of the most thrilling games on the Week 7 slate, beating the visiting Purdue Boilermakers 50-49 in overtime. They didn’t cover as a 22.5-point favorite. Illinois’ lone loss of the season came at then-No. 8, now-No. 3 Penn State 21-7 on Sept. 28. Illinois is 3-0 ATS as an underdog and 1-1-1 ATS as a favorite. It is 2-1-1 ATS at home.

Oddly enough, home-field advantage has played little role. Illinois is 12-35-1 at home and 11-35-1 on the road (and 0-2 at neutral sites).

Michigan has won the last 6 meetings, but these teams have only played twice since the start of the 2017 season. The last matchup Nov. 19, 2022, with the Wolverines squeaking out a 19-17 victory at home as 17-point favorites.
