Although Brooklyn couldn’t pull off the win in Game 2 against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, multiple Nets managed to stuff the stat sheet in the 104-99 loss.

While Garrett Temple led the Nets in scoring with 21 points, three of his Brooklyn teammates — Joe Harris, Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert — logged double-doubles.

Not only did Joe Harris and Jarrett Allen both finish with double-doubles, but they also finished with the same number of points (14) and rebounds (15) as one another.

LeVert achieved his double-double by complimenting his 16-point night with 11 assists. He also had a double-double in Brooklyn’s Game 1 loss on Monday, joining some elite company in the process.

By logging another double-double on Wednesday, LeVert once again finds himself among a small number of players who’ve worn a Nets uniform.

LeVert is only the fourth Nets player to ever log a double-double in consecutive playoff games. Michael Ray Richardson, Jason Kidd and Deron Williams are the only others who have also done so.

Today in Nets history: Nets win playoff series over reigning NBA champions

The Philadelphia 76ers were favored heading into their 1984 first-round matchup against the New Jersey Nets.

With the NBA on hiatus and New York continuing its battle against the novel coronavirus outbreak, Brooklyn Nets games will not be played for the foreseeable future.

For the Nets, as much as any team, this comes at an odd time — Brooklyn was battling the Orlando Magic for the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference standings. At the stoppage of play, the Nets had a half-game advantage over the Magic.

Since there aren’t any games, each day Nets Wire will highlight impressive individual performances and major moments throughout Nets history:

The Atlantic Division was as talented as any in the 1983-84 NBA season. With the Celtics leading the league in wins (62), the Philadelphia 76ers could only hope for the third seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, even though they had two more wins (52) than the top team in the Central Division, the Milwaukee Bucks (50).

Philly secured the third seed, which meant they had to face the New Jersey Nets in the first round. With the Sixers being the higher seed and the reigning NBA champions, they were clear favorites.

Then New Jersey won the first game, on the road. Same thing happened in Game 2. Philly went on to tie the series at 2-2, but the Nets continued to play road warriors, as New Jersey stole the series on April 26, 1984, with a 101-98 win to advance to the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals (full box score).

Buck Williams had a double-double (17 points and 16 rebounds) in the clincher, while both Micheal Ray Richardson and Otis Birdsong finished with 24 points, six assists and six steals apiece.

Today in Nets history: Micheal Ray Richardson, Nets blow out Sixers amid playoff push

One year to the day after he shined against the Philadelphia 76ers, Micheal Ray Richardson led the New Jersey Nets to a big win over Philly.

On April 10, 1984, Micheal Ray Richardson scored 13 points, dished out 14 assists and had eight steals in the New Jersey Nets’ 106-102 win over the Philadelphia 76ers (full box score). Both teams made the playoffs comfortably that season.

But the Nets faced a longer road to the playoffs the next season, which is why it was imperative for Richardson to step up on the same date one year later with the Sixers visiting, once again.

Oddly enough, Richardson also posted 14 assists in the Nets’ 125-110 win on April 10, 1985 (full box score). Additionally, the guard scored 27 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had seven steals.

Buck Williams also had a double-double (19 points and 10 rebounds). Off the bench, Albert King scored 23 points, Ron Brewer had 15 and Mike Gminski chipped in 11 while tallying nine rebounds.
