Falcons to retain running backs coach Michael Pitre, per report

The #Falcons are expected to keep running backs coach Michael Pitre, per report

The Atlanta Falcons still have several spots to fill on Raheem Morris’ coaching staff, but at least a few familiar faces will be back in 2024. Special teams coordinator Marquice Williams is expected to return along with running backs coach Michael Pitre, according to multiple reports.

Pitre joined the Falcons in 2022 and has helped the team develop one of the most potent rushing attacks in the NFL over the last two seasons. Former fifth-round pick Tyler Allgeier rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2022 and rookie Bijan Robinson went over 1,400 all-purpose yards in 2023.

Along with Pitre and Williams, the Falcons are expected to hire Rams quarterbacks coach/pass-game coordinator Zac Robinson as their offensive coordinator. That leaves just one coordinator vacancy for head coach Raheem Morris to fill.

Former Falcons defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen took a job in Jacksonville during the hiring process so the team must find a replacement. One name that has been linked to Atlanta is Cowboys defensive line coach Aden Durde.

Falcons hire Michael Pitre as running backs coach

On Monday, the Falcons hired Michael Pitre to be the new running backs coach.

A few weeks after Falcons running backs coach Des Kitchings left for an offensive coordinator job at the University of Virginia, it appears Atlanta has found a replacement.

The Falcons hired Michael Pitre to be the new running backs coach, the team announced over Twitter on Monday evening.

Pitre took over as the running backs coach for the Chicago Bears in 2021 after spending the three prior seasons as RBs coach/recruiting coordinator at Oregon State. Falcons offensive coordinator Dave Ragone also came from Chicago, but Pitre arrived after Ragone left for Atlanta.

In 2021, the Bears rushed for 2,018 yards — second only to the San Francisco 49ers. Before his coaching career began, Pitre was the starting fullback at UCLA for three seasons.

4 things to know about Bears news RB coach Michael Pitre

The Bears are hiring Michael Pitre to serve as running backs coach. Let’s get to know Chicago’s newest coach.

The Chicago Bears have been busy this offseason filling some coaching vacancies on offense and defense, but Matt Nagy has finally filled out his staff.

The Bears have found their running backs coach in Michael Pitre, who takes over for the departed Charles London. London left Chicago to join Arthur Smith’s staff in Atlanta, where he’ll serve in the same role.

Let’s take a look at four things to know about Chicago’s new running backs coach.

Report: Bears hiring Oregon State’s Michael Pitre as running backs coach

It sounds like the Bears have found their new running backs coach in Oregon State’s Michael Pitre.

The Chicago Bears had a handful of coaching vacancies this offseason, and they’ve filled all of those on defense. Now, it sounds like they’ve filled one of those openings on offense.

According to ESPN college football writer Adam Rittenberg, the Bears are expected to hire Oregon State running backs coach Michael Pitre as their new running backs coach.

Pitre replaces Charles London, who left the Bears to join Arthur Smith’s staff in Atlanta. Pitre has been at Oregon State for the past three years, where he served as the running backs coach and, most recently, the recruiting coordinator.

Interestingly enough, Pitre coached both running backs Ryan Nall and Artavis Pierce at Oregon State. Now, Pitre will be reunited with his former players and get to coach two of the game’s best in David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen.
