Highlights: Incoming Georgia transfer WR Michael Jackson

What does USC transfer Michael Jackson III bring to Georgia football?

Incoming Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Michael Jackson III is transferring to Athens, Georgia, from the USC Trojans. The junior wide receiver has battled injuries throughout his career, but has a great deal of talent.

Jackson is very effective in the screen game and is touch to tackle after the catch. Jackson is physical at the catch point and should see snaps in the Georgia offense.

The 6-foot, 200-pound wide receiver from Las Vegas, Nevada, has one season of eligibility remaining. Jackson caught passes from star USC quarterback Caleb Williams the past two seasons. Jackson is a former three-star recruit.

247Sports ranks Jackson as the No. 360 transfer in this cycle and the No. 66 wide receiver. Jackson is a three-star recruit as a transfer, but if he can stay healthy, he has an opportunity to outperform this ranking.

Let’s take a look at Michael Jackson’s career highlights and stats:

USC receiver Michael Jackson enters the transfer portal

It just didn’t click for Michael Jackson in 2023.

The college football transfer portal had over 1,200 players enter since the window opened on December 4. The USC Trojans saw wide receiver Michael Jackson enter the portal on Tuesday, per Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

Jackson never found a huge role with the Trojans, and it didn’t help that they had a ton of weapons on offense. In 2022, he had 13 catches for 205 yards and three scores in five games. This past season he played eight games with 17 catches for 146 yards and just one touchdown.

Raleek Brown also entered the transfer portal, and Caleb Williams is a lock to head for the NFL draft, as is Brenden Rice.

So, the Trojans’ offense will look much different next season. Players such as Dillon Gabriel and Grayson McCall should draw interest from Lincoln Riley and the Trojans.

Jackson is a junior and stands at six feet tall. He has a lot of talent, but just needs the right opportunity.

Pundits expect Michael Jackson III to break out this season in the USC offense

#USC has so many good receivers that some will go under the radar … and that’s precisely how they can produce against defenses focused on other targets.

The USC Trojans did lose a number of receivers in the offseason, but if there’s one position group where this team won’t suffer, it’s at receiver. Michael Jackson III will see to it.

The Trojans return Jackson with juniors Mario Williams, Tahj Washington, and Brenden Rice. They have added Arizona junior transfer Dorian Singer, who was an All-Pac-12 Second Team selection last season. They have a lot of quality players in this position group. Michael Jackson III could be the breakout star of the deepest WR room in the country.

Michael Jackson was a four-star prospect in the 2021 class from Desert Pines High in Las Vegas. He had 17 catches for 236 yards and four touchdowns in six late-season games for USC.

USC also brings in more competition at the receiver spot this year with four-star Makai Lemon and five-star Zachariah Branch, who is the No. 1 overall WR in his class.

Expect Jackson to be a deep-threat target and a favorite of 2023 Heisman Trophy Winner Caleb Williams this upcoming season.
