LSU the favorite to land five-star safety

The Tigers’ 2023 class may be about to get even better.

[autotag]Javien Toviano[/autotag] is a five-star safety on Rivals and a four-star on every other recruiting site. He is a 6-foot, 185-pound cornerback from Arlington, Texas, where he plays for Martin High School.

The Warriors have started the 2022 season 2-1 after losing a non-district game to Allen last week 27-16. Per On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, LSU has become the favorite to land the talented safety.

The Tigers currently have 22 commitments for the 2023 recruiting class, which ranks seventh in the country at the moment. If Toviano were to commit, he would join [autotag]Michael Daughtery[/autotag], [autotag]Ryan Yaites[/autotag] and [autotag]Kylin Jackson[/autotag] as safety commits for the 2023 class.

Brian Kelly has done a great job so far of recruiting really good players to come to the Bayou next season, and he’s still working on landing even more.

UNC Football Recruiting: Four-star DB Michael Daugherty primer

We preview four-star defensive back Michael Daugherty’s decision between UNC and LSU.

A big UNC football recruiting target in the 2023 class is set to make his decision in the coming hours. Four-star defensive back [autotag]Michael Daughtery[/autotag] will officially pledge his commitment to one school on Wednesday night, ending his recruitment once and for all.

The Georgia native has a total of 43 offers in his recruitment but going into decision day, it appears to be a two-team battle between North Carolina and LSU. Programs like Auburn, Georgia, Louisville, and Texas are still involved, however, it’s likely to be either the Tar Heels or Tigers.

The recruit has visited both campuses and was most recently in Chapel Hill over the weekend for the Spring Game.

This is a tough recruitment to get a feel for and there’s just one crystal ball prediction, belonging to LSU from a 247Sports LSU insider. There hasn’t been a prediction just yet from a national insider but with a decision looming, that could be coming any moment now.

Going into this recruitment, UNC has just one commitment in the 2023 class with that being four-star quarterback Tad Hudson. Getting another commitment would move their class up and get them off to a good start in this cycle with a lot of time remaining.

Here’s what you need to know about Daugherty’s decision:

What? Four-star DB Michael Daugherty college decision
When? Wednesday, April 13th
Where? Grayson High School in Georgia

Tar Heels getting big visit from four-star DT this weekend

UNC football is hosting a big time four-star defensive tackle for a visit this weekend.

The North Carolina football program will be hosting another big time visitor this weekend in addition to four-star safety [autotag]Michael Daughtery[/autotag].

2023 four-star defensive tackle [autotag]Jamaal Jarrett[/autotag] will also be on campus this weekend in Chapel Hill visiting UNC. Jarrett has offers from Georgia, North Carolina, Auburn, Michigan, Florida, Miami (Fla), Penn State, Tennessee and many more.

Jarrett was also on UNC’s campus twice last summer.

Jarrett has been a big time prospect on North Carolina’s recruiting board for much of the past year and the Tar Heels sit in a good spot for the four-star DT along with Georgia, but it may be difficult to keep Jarrett in-state after a recent visit to Georgia.

Rivals national writer Adam Gorney recently took a look at Jarrett’s recruitment.

GeorgiaĀ andĀ North CarolinaĀ are the front-runners forĀ Jamaal Jarrett and while Iā€™m never going to count out coach Mack Brown and the Tar Heels for an in-state prospect, the Bulldogs look tough to beat. He had such a great experience there for two days getting to know the coaches and players, sitting in on meetings and experiencing everything Georgia has to offer. If I had to pick right now, Georgia is clearly the frontrunner.

North Carolina has one commitment in the class of 2023 from quarterback [autotag]Tad Hudson[/autotag].

Four-star safety sets visit to UNC ahead of decision date

The UNC football program will host a big four-star recruiting target for an official visit this weekend.

The UNC football program will have one final chance to impress four-star safety [autotag]Michael Daughtery[/autotag] ahead of his announcement.

The Loganville, Georgia native took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce he will be on UNC’s campus for an official visit beginning Friday and lasting through Sunday. The visit will be the last for Daughtery in his recruitment before he makes his decision on April 13th.

A 6-foot-1, 180-pound safety, Daughtery has a total of 43 offers in his recruitment so far. Programs like Georgia, LSU, Louisville, UNC, Mississippi State, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee and Miami among others are involved in his recruitment. But going into next Wednesday’s decision, it appears as if the Tar Heels have the advantage.

On3 has the Tar Heels as the slight favorites to land Daughtery, holding a 28.6 percent chance to earn the commitment. LSU is next with a 15.3 percent chance as the Tigers are making a late push to land this commitment.

Auburn makes top eight for 4-star safety Michael Daugherty

This could be big.

Four-star safety Michael Daugherty gave Auburn fans something to be thankful for Thursday afternoon.

Daugherty, a 4-star safety from Loganville, Georgia, announced his top eight schools on Thanksgiving and Auburn made the cut. The Tigers are joined by Louisville, Oregon, LSU, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, and USC.

Daugherty is the No. 149 overall prospect and the No. 13 safety in the 247Sports Composite ranking for the 2023 class. While he is still ā€œ100% open-minded to all opportunitiesā€ he will make his decision on June 22, 2022.

Auburn does not yet have a commitment in the 2023 class, but the addition of Daugherty would go a long way in building the class.
