Miami Heat at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Miami Heat at Portland Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Miami Heat (1-3) will face the Portland Trail Blazers (4-0) on Wednesday at the Moda Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (NBATV). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Trail Blazers odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Heat have gotten off to a slow start this season and lost 98-90 to the Toronto Raptors on Monday despite being 3.5-point favorites at home. Miami has inserted G Tyler Herro into the starting lineup and he’s responded with 21 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game on 48.4% shooting from the field.

The Trail Blazers have been 1 of the most surprising teams to begin the season as they remain undefeated, with their latest win being a 135-110 victory Sunday over the Denver Nuggets as 5-point underdogs. G Damian Lillard is back for Portland and the All-Star guard has recorded 33.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game on 50% shooting from the floor.

Heat at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Trail Blazers 111, Heat 105

Moneyline

Despite Portland being a surprising team to begin the season, TRAIL BLAZERS (+110) is an enticing wager as they look like the superior team right now. The Heat need more production from G Kyle Lowry and C Bam Adebayo, and it remains to be seen if they find their groove on the road against Portland.

Against the spread

Being that I have Portland winning outright, TRAIL BLAZERS +2.5 (-110) is where I’m going in this game. The return of Lillard has paid dividends early for Portland while Miami is still trying to figure out its rotation with Herro now in the starting lineup.

The Trail Blazers are 4-0 ATS in their 1st 4 games this season while the Heat are 0-4 ATS in their 1st 4 games.

Over/Under

UNDER 219.5 (-112) seems like the ideal choice in this game with both teams being in the bottom 11 in pace to begin the season. Miami also has the 3rd-worst offensive rating in the NBA, which makes it hard to trust them scoring enough to help hit the Over.

The Under is 5-1 in the last 6 games where the Heat had 1 day of rest. On the other hand, the Under is 8-1 in the last 9 games for the Trail Blazers.

The Miami Heat (27-25) kick off a four-game Western Conference road trip on Sunday, beginning with the Portland Trail Blazers (31-21). Tip-off Sunday night is scheduled for 10:10 p.m. ET in Moda Center. Below, we analyze the Heat-Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Miami wrapped up a 3-1 homestand Thursday, closing it out with a 110-104 win over the L.A. Lakers. They have won five of their last six games, turning things around after their six-game losing streak. They lost 125-122 to the Blazers at home March 25.

Portland is playing for the second night in a row at home as part of their three-game homestand. They beat the Detroit Pistons 118-103 Saturday night after losing three of their previous four games.

Heat at Trail Blazers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Trail Blazers 111, Heat 108

Money line (ML)

Portland has been solid against the East this season going 15-7 so far. They have won five of their last six games against Eastern Conference teams – including the Heat in Miami. Miami has struggled against teams over .500 this season. They are 7-15 against teams with a winning record. However, Portland isn’t much better at 8-14. This is a true toss-up game, but I lean BLAZERS -110.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Heat have been streaky against the spread. They have failed to cover the spread in their last two games. They covered the previous four, and before that, they had a six-game streak of not covering. Overall, the Heat are 22-29 ATS. Portland is an even 26-26 ATS and 11-11 ATS as an underdog. I expect them to pick up a win, so take the BLAZERS -1 (-105).

Over/Under (O/U)

Miami is known for its defense. They allow the third-fewest points in the league at 107.4. However, low totals have led to four straight games going Over. The Blazers have had four of their last five games go Under, but that is with totals of 226.5 or higher. The highest total for Miami in the last four games has been 216.5. With the total set where it is for this game tonight take UNDER 221.5 POINTS (-105).
