Miami Heat at Boston Celtics Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Miami Heat at Boston Celtics odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics meet Wednesday for Game 5 of their best-of-7 Eastern Conference 1st-round series, which Boston leads 3-1. Tip-off from TD Garden is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Celtics odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Boston routed Miami 102-88 in Monday’s Game 4 of the series while covering as a 10.5-point road favorite. G Derrick White dropped a game-high 38 points on 15-of-26 shooting in the win. Boston also hit 14 deep balls, while the Heat hit only 9. After hitting 23 from deep in their lone win in the series (Game 2), the Heat have been held to single-digit 3’s in back-to-back outings.

Miami’s offense continues to struggle as it has been held to under 100 points in each of its 3 losses this series — it was held under 90 points in the last 2 games.

Heat at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 105, Heat 90

Moneyline

PASS.

The Celtics should pick up the win and end this series, but they are not worth the risk of betting on as -1000 favorites. Back the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

LEAN CELTICS -13.5 (-110).

Boston has covered the spread in 3 of the 4 games this series, including each of the last 2 games. The Celtics are also 4-2 ATS in their last 6 matchups vs. Miami.

This is only a lean because Miami is still a very good team and has proven in this series that its offense can come alive. Miami has also given Boston a lot of trouble in recent history, especially in the playoffs.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 199.5 (-110).

The Under has hit in 4 of Miami’s last 5 games, including in 3 of the 4 games this series. The Under is 4-1 in the last 5 Miami-Boston matchups overall, and 7-3 in the last 10 head-to-head meetings dating back to May, 2023.

An Under number this low is always risky in today’s NBA, but Miami’s offense has not looked good all series and both teams are very good defensively, making this play the best bet in the contest.

Miami Heat at Boston Celtics Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Miami Heat at Boston Celtics odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Heat (0-1) face the Boston Celtics (1-0) Wednesday for Game 2 of their best-of-7, 1st-round series. Tip-off from TD Garden is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Celtics odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Regular-season series: Celtics won 3-0

Boston took Sunday’s opener 114-94 behind F Jayson Tatum’s 1st career playoff triple-double (23 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists). Tatum only made 1-of-8 3-pointers, but the team finished 22-for-49 (44.9%) behind the arc. G Derrick White added 20 points, while 6 Celtics finished in double-figures for points.

They led by 5 points after the opening quarter, 15 points at the half and 32 points entering the 4th. They easily covered as 14.5-point home favorites.

Miami, on the other hand, allowed 10 offensive rebounds but on the bright side, it outscored Boston in the paint 44-24, which is antiquated in today’s NBA. C Bam Adebayo led the Heat with a team-high 24 points.

The Under (210.5) did hit, barely. Although it appears that teams are either adjusting to the playoff atmosphere or ramping up their defense, either way teams are struggling to score so far.

Heat at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 106, Miami 94

Moneyline

Home teams dominated the playoffs out of the gate, going 11-0 straight up through Monday, but 2 visiting teams (Indiana at Milwaukee and Dallas at LA Clippers) picked off wins Tuesday.

However, the Celtics don’t seem at risk of losing this game at home. They are an NBA best 38-4 as home favorites this season. But given the current odds (-1400), there is no value at picking them straight up.

PASS.

Against the spread

In the 1st-round openers, 6 of the 8 matchups ended in double-digit wins. So far, Game 2’s have been closer as teams are adjusting and finding advantages.

I expect the same for this game. As a road underdog during the regular season, Miami had the 2nd-best cover percentage (63.0%).

Entering Wednesday, NBA Playoffs underdogs are 4-2 ATS in Game 2’s.

BET HEAT +14.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Miami and the Denver Nuggets tied for the NBA’s best Under record during the regular season at 47-35, according to Teamrankings.com. The Heat only scored 94 points in their Game 1 loss — they feature a league-best 28-15 Under record as a road team.

Boston’s defense allowed just 109.2 points per game in the regular season and as teams up their effort for the playoffs, I expect another low-scoring game.

Plus, only 2 of the 6 Game 2’s had both teams score over 100 point so far.

LEAN UNDER 203.5 (-110).

Miami Heat at Boston Celtics odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Miami Heat at Boston Celtics odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Heat (1-0) and Boston Celtics (1-0) square off in a rematch of the Eastern Conference Finals Friday night. Tip from TD Garden is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Celtics odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 2-2 in regular season last year; Heat defeated Celtics 4-3 in the playoffs

The Heat return to the spot they annihilated the Celtics in Game 7 103-84 to advance to the NBA Finals. They had a close call in their season opener as they staved off the young Detroit Pistons 103-102. Miami had a 19-point lead and nearly squandered it. F Jimmy Butler had 19 points, 13 boards and 4 assists.

The Celtics pushed as 4-point favorites in a 108-104 victory over the New York Knicks in their season opener. F Jayson Tatum had 34 points and 11 boards. But it was newcomer C Kristaps Porzingis that stole the show with 30 points, 8 boards and 4 blocks.

Heat at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 111, Heat 107

Moneyline

The Celtics are massive favorites in this one. And don’t get me wrong, they looked good in their 1st game, and the Heat struggled to put away the Pistons. But, the Celtics were up 30-18 on the Knicks after 1 quarter and allowed them to stay in it.

PASS and look to the spread.

Against the spread

The Celtics should win the game, but I am jumping at the chance to get the HEAT +9.5 (-115). The Heat covered this number in 3 of 4 meetings in the regular season last year and won 1 of the games in the Garden. They also obviously stunned them on the road in the playoffs. This number is likely to get steamed back down closer to tip so get in on this.

Over/Under

The 2 games in Boston went way over this number last year, and Boston appears to have gotten even better on offense. Both teams went Under in their season openers, but this is a more manageable number.

LEAN OVER 216.5 (-115).

Miami Heat at Boston Celtics Game 7 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Miami Heat at Boston Celtics Game 7 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics square off in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday at TD Garden. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Celtics odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Heat could not close the deal against the Celtics in Game 6 on Saturday, losing 104-103 on a buzzer-beating tip-in by G Derrick White. After leading 3-0, Miami has lost 3 consecutive games.

In Saturday’s season-saving win, the Celtics got 57 combined points from F Jayson Tatum and F Jaylen Brown. Boston is looking to become the 1st team in NBA playoff history to come back from a 3-0 deficit in a series.

Heat at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 109, Heat 105

Moneyline

PASS.

With all of the momentum, most people are backing the Celtics to make history on Monday. Me too, but taking the -300 moneyline isn’t worth the risk.

Against the spread

BET HEAT +7.5 (-115).

This should be a back-and-forth contest. Aside from getting positive contributions from F Caleb Martin, F Max Strus, and Vincent, F Jimmy Butler and C Bam Adebayo should have better performances than Game 6 to keep this game close.

The Heat are 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings and 15-6 ATS in the last 21 meetings in Boston.

Over/Under

OVER 203.5 (-110) is my bet with the expectation that Butler and Adebayo are more productive for the Heat. There have also been 207-plus points scored in each of the 6 games of the series.

The Heat are 10-2 to the Over in their last 12 road games and the Over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Boston.

Miami Heat at Boston Celtics Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Miami Heat at Boston Celtics Game 5 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics meet Thursday for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat lead 3-1. Tip-off from TD Garden is set for 8:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Celtics odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Boston won 116-99 Tuesday as 1-point road underdogs. After losing 3-straight games, the Celtics rode F Jayson Tatum‘s 33-point night to keep their season alive. No team in NBA history has ever come back from being down 3-0 in a series and the Heat look to keep that streak intact.

The Heat are likely looking at this matchup as a must-win game because they don’t want to give the Celtics any momentum to get back into the series. With the Denver Nuggets already in the Finals, the Heat are looking to do the same as quickly as possible to get some much needed rest before the best-of-7 championship series.

BET HEAT (+240).

Vegas has them as heavy underdogs, but the Heat have proven in this series they can be dominant over the Celtics. It’s worth a chance to win 2.4 times your bet.

Against the spread

BET HEAT +7.5 (-105).

If you can’t see Miami winning outright, the Heat with the points is not badly priced. The Heat have been dominant ATS vs. the Celtics. The Heat are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings overall. They’re also 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. opponents with a winning percentage above .600.

Over/Under

BET OVER 215.5 (-110).

For Miami the Over is 10-1 in its last 11 road games and the Over is 4-0 in its last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage greater than .600.

For Boston the Over is 6-1 in its last 7 following a straight-up win and following an ATS win, as well as being 12-3 in its last 15 games playing on 1 day of rest.

The Over is also 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Boston and 5-2 in the last 7 meetings overall.

Miami Heat at Boston Celtics Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Miami Heat at Boston Celtics Game 2 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Miami Heat take on the Boston Celtics Friday in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.  Tip from TD Garden is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Celtics odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Series: Heat lead 1-0

The Heat stunned the Celtics with a 123-116 road victory in Game 1. SF Jimmy Butler led the way with 35 points, 7 assists, 5 boards and 6 steals. C Bam Adebayo added 20 points, 8 boards and 5 assists as well. Miami shot 51% from deep, going 16-for-31, and put on a 46-point onslaught coming out of halftime.

The Celtics weren’t terrible. They shot 51% from the floor, but they just couldn’t match the 16 Miami 3-pointers. F Jayson Tatum had 30 points and 7 boards while G Jaylen Brown had 22 points, 9 boards and 5 assists. The Celtics even got 13 points and 11 assists from G Marcus Smart. It was just Miami’s night.

Heat at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 112, Heat 106

Moneyline

The Celtics should win this game. They didn’t really do anything to lose Game 1. Miami just shot the lights out, and that happens sometimes. Boston is WAY overpriced, though. Miami at +333 is tempting, and if you have a free bet, it’s definitely worth consideration.

I can’t bring myself to pick Boston to go down 0-2 at home, though.

PASS and look to the spread.

Against the spread

Miami has won 3 straight meetings against Boston. The Heat are also 14-5 ATS in their last 19 games in Boston. All the Heat have to do is keep it within 10, which they have done in 6 of the last 7 against the Celtics.

Take the HEAT +9.5 (-110).

Over/Under

These teams have hit this number in 4 of the last 5 meetings. Both teams have cashed an Over in 7 of 10 games. The Over is 10-2 in the last 12 Boston played on 1 day of rest. The Over is 5-0 in the Heat’s last 5 road games against teams with a home winning percentage of .600 or greater and 7-1 in their last 8 road games against teams over .500 at home. Lastly, the Over has cashed in the last 4 between these teams in Boston.

Take the OVER 214.5 (-115).

Miami Heat at Boston Celtics Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Miami Heat at Boston Celtics Game 1 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Miami Heat begin a best-of-7 series in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday at TD Garden. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Heat vs. Celtics odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Heat defeated the New York Knicks 96-92 last Friday to close out the series in 6 games. Miami has gone 8-3 in the playoffs thus far after defeating the Milwaukee Bucks in 5 games in the 1st round of the postseason.

On Sunday, the Celtics cruised to a 112-88 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 7 to advance. Boston has recorded an 8-5 record in its 13 playoff contests.

During the regular season, the Heat and the Celtics met 4 times and they split those 4 games. Miami and Boston also split covering the spread and the Over/Under went 2-2 in the 4 meetings in the regular season.

Prediction

Celtics 111, Heat 107

Moneyline

PASS.

The Celtics are expected to secure the win at home to begin the series, but taking them straight up isn’t worth the risk at the current odds (-350).

Against the spread

HEAT +7.5 (-105) is how I’d wager on the spread in this game with F Jimmy Butler on the other side of the court against the Celtics. C Bam Adebayo has also historically performed well on both ends of the court against Boston.

The Heat are 13-5 ATS in the last 18 road meetings against the Celtics. Miami is also 8-3 ATS in its 11 playoff games thus far.

Over/Under

Even though it’s the playoffs and these teams are formidable defensive units, OVER 210.5 (-110) is an enticing bet. The Over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Boston.

The Heat are also 8-1 to the Over in their last 9 road games, while the Celtics are 5-1 to the Over in their last 6 games following a win.

Heat at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 121, Heat 110

Moneyline

Just PASS on the moneyline in this game because the Celtics (-330) are so heavily favored at home. The risk of taking Boston straight up isn’t worth the return you’ll receive if the Celtics secure the victory.

Against the spread

The CELTICS -7.5 (-115) are the superior team right now and they own an 11-1 record at home. The Heat don’t have anyone that can contain F Jayson Tatum, who put up 49 points against Miami Wednesday.

The Celtics are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall and the Heat are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings with the Celtics.

Over/Under

While both of these teams are predicated on playing formidable defense, OVER 225.5 (-110) is the ideal wager in this game. The Heat and the Celtics have a combined 25-18-1 record to the Over this season.

The Over is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings between theses teams in Boston.

Heat at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 115, Heat 106

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no value here either way as the Celtics, while the better team, aren’t worth 4 units to return 1. Similarly, with Butler out, the Heat may not have the talent to hang with Boston.

Against the spread

LEAN HEAT +9.5 (-120).

Butler may be sidelined, but the Heat are playing some of their best ball of the season, having won 3 straight games. They’ve been able to do that with a solid 3-point defense, ranking 10th in opponents shooting from deep, and the league’s 2nd-best free-throw shooting. The leadership of G Kyle Lowry has aided their success as well.

The Celtics’ success comes from being the No. 1 team in terms of effective field goal rate, but the Heat’s opponents shoot just the 7th-fewest attempts per game.

Miami is a deep enough team with enough leadership to back that it can keep a primetime game without single digits.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 224.5 (-110).

How many points are scored in a game often depends on the tempo, and neither team wants to run. The Celtics rank 18th in pace with the Heat sitting 26th in the NBA.

Both teams also rank in the league’s top 10 in turnover rate, so neither gives the ball up which should allow for fewer transition opportunities. Miami is 2-4 O/U in its last 6 while Boston is 3-4 O/U in its last 7.

Back the Under 224.5 (-110) here.

Miami Heat at Boston Celtics odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Miami Heat at Boston Celtics odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Despite losing its last game, the Boston Celtics (47-29) enter Wednesday’s matchup with the Miami Heat (48-28) as the hottest team in the league. But they face a big test against the Eastern Conference leaders. Tip-off from TD Garden will be at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Heat vs. Celtics odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Heat snapped their four-game losing streak Monday with a 123-100 win over the Sacramento Kings. Miami is just 4-6 in its last 10 games, with five of those losses coming as the favorite. The Heat lead the NBA in 3-point percentages (37.4%) and defensively, they allow the fourth-fewest points per game (105.2).

The Celtics were extremely short-handed in their last game against the Toronto Raptors, missing SF Jayson Tatum, SG Jaylen Brown and C Robert Williams. As 8.5-point underdogs, they still managed to take the Raptors into OT before losing 115-112. Boston is 8-2 in its last 10 games and currently holds the third seed in the East.

Heat at Celtics odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 113, Heat 107

Money line

The Celtics were already considered one of the best teams in the league but in their loss to the Raptors on Monday, they showed how deep and unreliant they are on their stars. Now with Tatum and Brown expected to be back, the Celtics will pick up where they left off when they had won six straight.

If the line dips below -200, take the CELTICS (-210)  to win outright. But only make it a quarter- or half-unit because the spread is a better wager.

Against the spread

The Celtics are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games. The Heat’s ATS record in their last 10 is, well, unsightly. They’re just 2-8 ATS in that span, struggling to cover the spread against lesser opponents.

Miami is only 3-3 when getting 5-7 points, while the Celtics are 12-6 when giving up 5-7 points as the favorites. Bet the CELTICS -5.5 (-105).

Over/Under

The total has gone over in each of the Celtics’ last six games and in five of the last six Heat games. These are two of the best defenses in the league, but the Celtics are moving the ball well and getting open looks often, which should continue against the Heat.

Bet the OVER 213.5 (-115).
