New York Mets at Seattle Mariners odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New York Mets at Seattle Mariners odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (61-55) and Seattle Mariners (61-56) play the 2nd contest of a 3-game interleague series Saturday. First pitch from T-Mobile Park is set for 9:40 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Mariners odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Mariners lead 1-0

The Mets were on the short end of a 6-0 score in Friday’s series opener as they couldn’t solve SP Bryce Miller. He allowed just 3 hits and 1 walk across 6 scoreless innings in the quality start and win. 2B Ryan Bliss had a 2-run HR, while 3B Dylan Moore collected a pair of hits and C Cal Raleigh delivered 2 RBIs.

New York has wended its way across the country, going 4-4 in the first 8 games of a 10-game road trip that wraps up Sunday in Seattle. The Under has cashed in 6 in a row, while going 7-0-1 in the first 8 games of the journey.

The Mariners have back-to-back wins after dropping 3 in a row, and they’re still a respectable 8-5 in the past 13 games. Like the Mets, the Under has been the rule lately, going 4-1 across the past 5 outings with the offense averaging 2.8 runs per game (RPG) in the 5-game span, while allowing just 3.8 RPG.

Mets at Mariners projected starters

LHP Sean Manaea vs. RHP Logan Gilbert

Manaea (8-4, 3.30 ERA) makes his 23rd start. He has a 1.18 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 9.2 K/9 in 120 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 0 ER, 6 H, 0 BB, 10 K in 6-0 road victory vs. St. Louis Cardinals Monday
  • 2024 road splits: 4-1, 2.80 ERA (61 IP, 19 ER), 1.18 WHIP, .214 opponents’ batting average (OBA), 24 BB, 52 K in 11 starts
  • Career vs. Mariners: 8-7, 3.73 ERA (99 IP, 41 ER), 1.19 WHIP, 7.6 K/9 in 16 starts (1 complete game) and 1 relief appearance

Gilbert (6-8, 3.05 ERA) makes his 24th start. He has a 0.89 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9 and 8.7 K/9 in 147 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 H (1 solo HR), 0 BB, 7 K in 6-0 home setback vs. Philadelphia Phillies Sunday
  • 2024 home splits: 2-5, 2.78 ERA (71 1/3 IP, 22 ER), 0.84 WHIP, .190 OBA, 11 BB, 76 K in 11 starts
  • Career vs. Mets: 1 start, no-decision, 6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 7 H (1 solo HR), 0 BB, 9 K in 2-1 road loss Sept. 1, 2023

Mets at Mariners picks and predictions

Prediction

Mets 4, Mariners 2

Moneyline

The METS (+110) are a strong play for the bounce back after Friday night’s shutout loss.

For whatever reason, the Mariners (-130) seem to disappear on offense when Gilbert is on the bump. There is no way a guy should have a 2.78 ERA, .190 OBA and 0.84 WHIP in 71 1/3 innings in 11 home starts but has a dismal 2-5 record. That’s terrible run support.

The M’s were blanked against Philadelphia in his most recent home outing despite a quality start, and they’ve cobbled together 5 runs of offensive support in his past 4 appearances at T-Mobile Park.

Run line/Against the spread

The Mets +1.5 (-194) will cost nearly 2 times your potential return if you’re a little more on the conservative side, and you want some insurance, rather than just betting New York straight up.

That’s too expensive. If you like the Mets, play them straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

UNDER 7.5 (-120) is easily the best play on the board here.

The M’s offense disappears when Gilbert is on the bump, particularly at home, and the Mets have cashed low on the total at a 7-0-1 clip in the 8-game road trip so far.

All signs point to an Under result at T-Mobile Park on Saturday night.

New York Mets at Seattle Mariners odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s New York Mets at Seattle Mariners odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (61-54) take on the Seattle Mariners (60-56) Friday in the opener of a 3-game set at T-Mobile Park at 10:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Mariners odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Mets won 2-1 last year

The Mets come to town fresh after taking 2 of 3 in Colorado. They took down the Rockies 9-1 Thursday as 1B Pete Alonso slugged 2 homers to give him his 4th straight 25-homer season. The Mets are 6-4 in their last 10 and are a half-game up on the Atlanta Braves for the final Wild Card.

The Mariners snapped a 3-game losing streak with a 4-3 W over the Detroit Tigers Thursday. 1B Luke Raley had 2 hits, including his 14th homer of the season. The Mariners are 5-5 over their last 10 and are tied atop the AL West division with the Houston Astros.

Mets at Mariners projected starters

LHP Jose Quintana vs. RHP Bryce Miller

Quintana (6-7, 3.95 ERA) makes his 23rd start. He has a 1.27 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 7.1 K/9 in 118 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 4 BB, 4 K in 3-2 setback Sunday at Los Angeles Angels
  • Last 5 starts vs. Mariners: 2-1, 2.56 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 34 K in 31 2/3 IP (spans from 2014-2017)

Miller (8-7, 3.62 ERA) makes his 23rd start. He has a 1.05 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9 and 8.0 K/9 in 126 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 6-5 home win in 10 innings vs. Philadelphia Phillies Saturday
  • Never faced Mets before
  • Home/road splits: 4-3, 2.27 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 10.1 K/9 in 12 home GS; 4-4, 5.37 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 5.4 K/9 in 10 road GS

Mets at Mariners picks and predictions

Prediction

Mariners 4, Mets 3

Moneyline

The Mets are better on the road at 31-25, but the M’s are much better at home at 34-26. The Mets have had one heck of a travel week as well. They went from Los Angeles to St. Louis for a makeup game Monday and then flew to Colorado before arriving here in Seattle.

Miller is much better at home as well, and I give the edge to Seattle, which has been at home for an entire week.

Take the MARINERS -130.

Run line/Against the spread

I don’t like either side of the RL here. There is one prop that sticks out. Miller has allowed 5+ hits in 7 of 8 starts. Take BRYCE MILLER OVER 4.5 HITS ALLOWED (-145).

Over/Under

It’s slated to be an 84-degree evening with a light 3-mph gust moving left to right. The Mets are 2-7-1 O/U in their last 10, and the M’s are 6-4. The Mariners have hit the Under in 3 of 4.

I like the UNDER 8 (-115) Friday.
