The New York Mets (21-27) and Cleveland Guardians (32-17) wrap up a 3-game interleague series at Progressive Field Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Guardians odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Guardians lead 2-0

The Guardians won the opener 3-1 on Monday as -119 favorites, and Cleveland held off New York 7-6 on Tuesday as -115 favorites. Cleveland has won 5 straight games, and 8 of the past 9 outings, as it continues to lead the AL Central over the Kansas City Royals by 1 1/2 games.

Cleveland is 17-6 at home, the fewest amount of losses at home in the majors, while posting a plus-62 run differential in 49 games, good for 5th in the majors in that category.

The Mets have suffered losses in 4 of the past 5 outings, while posting a 3-9 record across the previous 12 contests. New York has dropped 5 consecutive interleague games, too, while going just 3-8 in 11 games against AL  opponents.

Mets at Guardians projected starters

Quintana (1-4, 5.21 ERA) makes his 10th start. He has a 1.46 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 6.2 K/9 in 46 2/3 IP.

  • 2024 daytime splits: 1-1, 3.00 ERA (18 IP, 6 ER), 1 HR, 14 H, 6 BB, 11 K in 3 starts

Mets at Guardians picks and predictions

Prediction

Guardians 6, Mets 4

Moneyline

The GUARDIANS (-126) are a good play against the southpaw Quintana, as they look to complete the 3-game interleague series sweep against the Mets (+108).

Quintana has struggled on the road, while McKenzie has been quite comfortable on his home mound.

Roll with the home side, and feel confident in doing so.

Run line/Against the spread

Cleveland is playing good baseball lately, and it is worth playing against the shaky left-hander. If you like the Guardians, just bet them straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 9 (-110) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

The Under is 7-3 in the past 10 games for the Guardians, splitting in the 1st 2 games of this series.

The total has gone low in 4 straight starts by McKenzie, too, while the Under is 4-2 in Quintana’s past 6 assignments.

New York Mets at Cleveland Guardians odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s New York Mets vs. Cleveland Guardians odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (21-26) and Cleveland Guardians (31-17) play the middle contest of a 3-game interleague series at Progressive Field Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Guardians odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Guardians lead 1-0

The Guardians took Monday’s opener 3-1 as -119 favorites. The Mets fell behind 2-0 after the 1st inning and sliced the lead in half in the top of the 3rd, but that’s as close as they could get. The Guardians tacked on another run in the 4th, and ended up winning as the Under (9) comfortably connected.

SS Francisco Lindor returned to Progressive Field for the 1st time since he and RHP Carlos Carrasco were traded to the Mets after the 2020 postseason. Lindor was hitless in 4 ABs with a K, dropping his average to .193.

New York has dropped 3 of the past 4 games, while going 3-8 in the previous 11 contests. The Mets have dropped 4 straight interleague games, and they’re just 3-7 in 10 games this season against American League foes.

Cleveland continues to truck along, winning 4 in a row, and 7 of the past 8 outings. The Guardians have won 5 in a row at home, too, while going 8-1 in the past 9 contests at Progressive Field. The Under has cashed in 4 of the past 5 games, while going 7-2 in the previous 9 outings.

Mets at Guardians projected starters

RHP Adrian Houser vs. RHP Carlos Carrasco

Houser (0-3, 7.44 ERA) makes his 7th start and 9th appearance. He has a 1.84 WHIP, 6.3 BB/9 and 4.7 K/9 in 32 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 IP, 4 ER, 4 H (1 HR), 4 BB, 2 K in 7-6 home win in 11 innings vs. Chicago Cubs May 2
  • 2024 road splits: 0-2, 11.45 ERA (11 IP, 14 ER), 1 HR, 18 H, 7 BB, 5 K in 2 starts and 1 relief appearance

Carrasco (2-4, 5.16 ERA) makes his 10th start. He has a 1.46 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 6.8 K/9 in 45 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 2 ER, 5 H (1 HR), 1 BB, 3 K in 4-0 defeat at Texas Rangers Wednesday
  • 2024 home splits: 1-2, 4.02 ERA (15 2/3 IP, 7 ER), 3 HR, 20 H, 8 BB, 9 K in 3 starts

Mets at Guardians picks and predictions

Prediction

Guardians 7, Mets 5

Moneyline

The GUARDIANS (-116) are a solid play in Game 2 of this interleague encounter as Carrasco goes up against his former team. He was traded to the Mets with Lindor after the 2020 postseason, since returning to Cleveland for a 2nd stint.

The Mets (-102) counter with the shaky Houser, who has been very giving, especially on the road. When the right-hander is pitching, fade him hard until he starts to resemble an MLB pitcher again.

Run line/Against the spread

The Guardians +1.5 (-188) will cost nearly 2 times your potential return if you prefer a little insurance, and, for whatever reason, you cannot bring yourself to bet Cleveland straight up.

The Guardians are playing good baseball right now. If you like them, just go with the home team on the moneyline and don’t fiddle around with the run line.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 9 (-120) might be the best play on the board.

Carrasco has been very giving this season, although he has some respectable numbers at Progressive Field. Meanwhile, Houser has been terrible, regardless of the venue.

While Cleveland has cashed low in 7 of the past 9 outings, the Over is 3-2-1 in Cookie’s past 6 outings.

For New York, the Under hit in Monday’s game, but the total has gone high in 5 of the past 6 games.

New York Mets at Cleveland Guardians odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s New York Mets vs. Cleveland Guardians odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (21-25) and Cleveland Guardians (30-17) open a 3-game interleague series at Progressive Field on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Guardians odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Mets won 3-0 in 2023

The Mets picked up a 7-3 win in Miami against the Marlins on Sunday, salvaging at a game in the series after dropping the 1st 2 games. However, the Mets are just 3-7 in the past 10 games.

The Mets offense has come alive lately, scoring 5 or more runs in 4 of the past 5 games, while cashing the Over in each game. On the road, the Mets have gone Over in 6 consecutive outings.

SS Francisco Lindor returns to Progressive Field for the 1st time since he and RHP Carlos Carrasco were traded to the Mets after the 2020 postseason for INFs Andres Gimenez, Amed Rosario and a pair of prospects. Carrasco returned to Cleveland via free agency.

The Guardians swept the division rival Minnesota Twins over the weekend, and they’re now 1 1/2 games clear of the Kansas City Royals for 1st place in the AL Central, and 5 1/2 games ahead of the Twins.

Cleveland has won 6 of the past 7 games, scoring 5 or more runs in 5 of those outings. The pitching staff has conceded 4 or fewer runs in 8 straight outings, and 10 of the past 11 contests. The Under is 6-2 across the past 8 games.

Mets at Guardians projected starters

RHP Tylor Megill vs. RHP Ben Lively

Megill (0-1, 2.25 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 1.50 WHIP, 6.8 BB/9 and 9.0 K/9 in 4 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 3 H, 3 BB, 4 K in 4-1 home loss vs. Milwaukee Brewers on March 31
  • Returns from the 15-day injured list after recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in his 1st start in late March

Lively (2-2, 3.06 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.27 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 8.6 K/9 in 32 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 5 IP, 3 ER, 5 H (3 solo HR), 3 BB, 5 K in 7-4 road win vs. Texas Rangers May 14
  • 2024 home splits: (1-0, 1.46 ERA), 12 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 1 HR, 9 H, 3 BB, 12 K in 2 starts

Mets at Guardians picks and predictions

Prediction

Guardians 6, Mets 3

Moneyline

The GUARDIANS (-126) are worth a look a slight favorites in this interleague series opener.

Lively has actually surprised in the Cleveland rotation, and he has decent numbers in limited action at home.

For the Mets (+108), it’s uncertain what we’ll get from Megill. He hasn’t pitched in a major league game since March 31, his only outing of the season, before a lengthy rehab due to a shoulder injury.

Run line/Against the spread

If you’re a little less on the conservative side, and you’re rather not just play the moneyline, GUARDIANS -1.5 (+160) isn’t a bad option for the chance to multiply your initial wager by more than 1 1/2 times.

The Mets +1.5 (-194) are 2-4 in the past 6 games on the run line as an underdog, with 2 outright wins during the span. Again, we don’t know if Megill will have rust, and that’s reason enough to shy away from the NL combatants.

Over/Under

OVER 8.5 (-105) is the lean, based mainly on the potential rust factor with Megill. He could allow runs early before getting his sea legs back.

The Over has cashed in 5 in a row for the Mets, and 6 straight games on the road, too.

For the Guardians, though, the Under has cashed in 3 of the past 4 outings, although the Over has a slight 3-2 edge in the past 5 home games for Cleveland.
