New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The New York Mets (3-7) and Atlanta Braves (7-3) will play the third and final game of their three-game series Monday night. First pitch from Truist Park will be at 7:10 p.m. ET. We analyze the Mets-Braves betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Mets at Braves: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Jacob deGrom vs. RHP Mike Soroka

DeGrom has pitched extremely well so far this season despite still being 0-0. It’s been much of the same for the Mets when he’s on the bump, as they’ve failed to give him any sort of run support.

  • DeGrom has a 1.64 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 11 innings, allowing just four hits and two walks.
  • In 22 starts against the Braves, deGrom is 7-7 with a career ERA of only 1.90.

Soroka also has not factored into a decision yet this season, despite pitching to a strong 1.59 ERA with eight strikeouts in 11 1/3 innings.

  • Soroka is a perfect 4-0 against the Mets in his career, posting an ERA of 2.27 with 25 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings.
  • He’s 11-2 in his career in the first half of the season with a stellar 2.66 ERA.

Prediction

Braves 5, Mets 4

Moneyline (ML)

The Mets (-128) are the road favorites in this one, primarily because deGrom is on the bump. At -1281, they’re only slight favorites, while the Braves are +115. Getting the Braves at plus money in this matchup, even with deGrom pitching, feels like a bargain.

The Mets have lost more of deGrom’s starts than they’ve won in the last three seasons, so it’s not as if their record is stellar with him pitching. I’d go with the BRAVES (+115) on the moneyline in this game.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Braves to win returns a profit of $11.50.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The run line BetMGM suggests is Mets -1 (-106) and Braves +1 (-115). The Braves should be able to win this game outright, but the added benefit of getting a run with the spread is an even better proposition.

I’d bet the BRAVES +1 (-115), especially with Cespedes no longer in the mix for the Mets. That’s a big bat out of their lineup and New York has struggled against everyone except the Boston Red Sox, who they beat twice.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over/Under is predictably low with two aces on the mound, sitting at only 8 runs. The total has gone Under in four of the Braves’ last six games this season, but it’ll go Over in this game.

Assuming deGrom doesn’t go seven-plus innings, the Mets’ bullpen will struggle to keep the Braves lineup down and give up some runs late. Bet the OVER 8 (-110).

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The New York Mets (3-6) and Atlanta Braves (6-3) hit the 3/4-pole in their four-game, wraparound series with a 1:10 p.m. ET contest at Truist Park. We analyze the Mets-Braves betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Mets at Braves: Projected starting pitchers

LHP David Peterson vs. RHP Kyle Right

Peterson made his big-league debut against Boston on July 28: he pitched 5 2/3 IP and gave up two runs on seven hits alongside two walks and three strikeouts.

  • The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder was a first-round selection in the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft. Peterson clocked a 4.19 ERA at Double-A in 2019.

Wright was sharp in his 2020 debut (July 28 at Tampa Bay) … until he wasn’t. Also, a 2017 first-round draft selection, the 24-year-old slider specialist breezed through two innings before losing command in an eventual loss that saw him allow five runs in 2 2/3 IP.

  • Wright posted a 4.17 ERA at Triple-A last season. He also appeared in 19 2/3 innings for the Braves, earning n 8.69 ERA.

Moneyline (ML)

Both teams head into Sunday’s action on streaks: the Mets have lost four in a row, while the Braves have won four straight. New York owns a shaky 5.63 team ERA (26th MLB) on the season and looks to have the lesser of the two bullpens in this matchup. TAKE ATLANTA (-115) as the top side play available in this one.

New to sports betting? A winning $11.50 bet on the Braves pays out a profit of $10.00.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

There is a high total here and the Braves are the likable side, but PASS ON THE ATLANTA -1.5 (+150) proposition.

Over/Under (O/U)

Both starters have better skills than what shines through in surface stats. The same applies to both bullpens. The Mets and Braves have a combined Over/Under record of 7-11 this season. SHADING THE UNDER 10.5 (-110) is the suggestion here.

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The New York Mets (3-5) face the Atlanta Braves (5-3) Saturday at 7:10 p.m. ET at Truist Park. We analyze the Mets-Braves betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

New York blew an 8-2 lead Friday as Atlanta planted five runs in the bottom of the eighth to eke out an 11-10 victory. That Mets bullpen … whew, it’s gross.

Mets at Braves: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Michael Wacha at RHP Touki Toussaint

Wacha’s opening gem of 5-plus innings with one run and four strikeouts Monday at the Boston Red Sox looked more like his 2018 self (3.20 ERA) than his 2017 (4.13) and 2019 (4.76) incarnations. In subsequent, tumultuous, often injury-riddled seasons, the righty has fallen short of the K-per-inning dominance he flashed in his 2013 debut stint.

  • Still, in his first start of the year, his early average four-seam-fastball velocity (94.4 mph) is up 1 mph from last year.
  • In two starts with the St. Louis Cardinals last year, Wacha spun a 2.45 ERA at what was then known as SunTrust Park.

Joining the rotation after Mike Foltynewicz was designated for assignment, Toussaint has been equally strikeout-happy (24.7 K%) and control-challenged (14.3 BB%), sinking him to a 5.52 ERA across 73 1/3 MLB innings.

  • He at least prefers pitching in Atlanta, with his 4.31 home ERA dwarfing his 6.95 figure elsewhere.
  • Lefty batters have given him trouble, though, tagging him for a .294 batting average.

Prediction

Braves 6, Mets 5

Moneyline (ML)

  • Mets +110
  • Braves -121

The Mets are 2-1 on the road but 3-5 overall. Atlanta is 3-0 at home so far, hence why they’re the favorite.

Playing on the side of the more experienced Wacha could justify a dart throw on the Mets, but given the better return on investment and the Braves’ strong bats, I’ll stay the course and BET the BRAVES (-121), which still offers enough of a profit.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Braves (-121) to win would return a profit of $8.26.

Run Line/Against the spread (ATS)

  • Mets +1.5 (-182)
  • Braves -1.5 (+150)

I’m not a fan of either of these lines, given that Wacha could slip against a Braves lineup that ranks fourth against righties so far with a .353 wOBA (150-plus plate appearances). PASS on the Run Line.

Over/Under (O/U)

  • Over 10 (-110)
  • Under 10 (-110)

The Braves are 4-4 on the Over/Under this year. The Mets are 3-5.

The two sides cleared the Over by a mile Friday, and I’d be more willing to take a shot on this coin flip if Albies (wrist) returns for the Braves.

Given the pitchers involved, if you’re going to take the 50-50 shot, I’ll nudge to BET the OVER 10 (-110).

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Friday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The New York Mets (3-4) visit the Atlanta Braves (4-3) Friday at Truist Park for a 7:10 p.m. ET first pitch. We analyze the Mets-Braves MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Mets at Braves: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Rick Porcello vs. LHP Sean Newcomb

Porcello was lit up in his first 2020 start on Sunday to the tune of six earned runs in two innings in a 14-1 loss to these very Braves. He has started five games against Atlanta in his career and has a 3-2 record with a 4.85 ERA.

Newcomb pitched a no-decision in his first outing this season in Sunday’s game against Porcello and Mets. He worked just 3 1/3 innings, only giving up one earned run in the start.

Prediction

Braves 8, Mets 4

Moneyline (ML)

Not only did Porcello get shelled in his first game against the Braves (-134) but so did the Mets (+120) bullpen. We could get a similar outcome this meeting as Porcello struggled last season with a 5.52 ERA, and has a 27.00 ERA after his first start. Plus, New York has the sixth-highest bullpen ERA in the MLB.

The Braves lead the season series, 2-1, and 6-2 in their last eight games against the Mets at home. We LIKE BRAVES (-134) on the moneyline.

New to sports betting? A $134 bet on the Braves earns a profit of $100 if Atlanta wins outright.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

There’s not enough value on the Braves (-1.5, +140) to take it. Eight of the last nine Mets-Braves games have been decided by two runs or fewer. A two-run win for Atlanta would cash the ticket but I’d need +160 or better to play it. PASS ON THE RUNE LINE.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total of 10.5 is a smidge high for my liking. The Over (-115) is slightly more expensive, meaning the market is leaning toward that side, so that’s where I lean. I am not going to play it though because my projected score isn’t far enough over the BetMGM’s projected total.
