Grizzlies at Pacers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 114, Pacers 112

Money line (ML)

The GRIZZLIES (+195) have dealt with COVID-19 issues, but they have steamed along with seven straight victories and covers. The good times will come to an end eventually, but keep betting on Memphis until it starts to cool off.

The Grizz are a tremendous value in this one, as Gorgui Dieng, Tyus Jones and De’Anthony Melton have really stepped up their play with others absent, and the Grizz have been a different team since Morant returned to the lineup. The latter rolled his ankle Monday but is expected to be fine.

Against the spread (ATS)

The GRIZZLIES +6.5 (-115) are a good play catching three buckets from the Pacers. Memphis has won and covered seven in a row, and Indiana limps in with back-to-back losses while going 3-5 straight up and 2-6 ATS across its past eight games.

Back the hotter team. It’s that simple.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 220.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit play. The Over cashed in each of the past four for Memphis against winning teams and the Over is 5-1 in Indiana’s past six at home.

The Over is also 5-2-1 in the previous eight overall for the Pacers.

Memphis Grizzlies at San Antonio Spurs odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Memphis Grizzlies at San Antonio Spurs NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Memphis Grizzlies (8-6) wrap up a two-game miniseries with the San Antonio Spurs (11-9) Monday at AT&T Center. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Grizzlies-Spurs NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Grizzlies rolled the Spurs 129-112 in San Antonio Saturday. Memphis won three of four quarters and tied the other. The Grizz outshot the Spurs .654 to .548 in effective field-goal percentage. Memphis had its previous five games postponed due to COVID-19 issues but the Grizzlies are on a six-game winning streak dating back to Jan. 8.

San Antonio’s loss to Memphis Saturday snapped a three-game winning streak for the Spurs. They’re 3-3 straight up and against the spread over their last six games.

These teams split the first two meetings this season and Memphis is 3-3 SU and ATS since drafting last season’s Rookie of the Year PG Ja Morant.

Grizzlies at Spurs: Odds, spread and lines

  • Against the spread/ATS: Grizzlies +3.5 (-110) | Spurs -3.5 (-110)

Grizzlies at Spurs: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 115, Spurs 111

Money line (ML)

The Grizzlies-Spurs game Saturday was Memphis’ first following an 11-day layoff due to COVID-19 issues and the Grizzlies didn’t show any signs of rust.

It was a full-team effort for Memphis with seven players scoring in double figures and 60 points off the bench. Also, the Grizzlies score the most points in the paint in the Association while the Spurs are 23rd in opponent’s points in the paint.

Ultimately, I PASS with a lean on Grizzlies (+135) because as we’ve seen a lot already this season, it’s hard to beat the same team in consecutive games.

Against the spread (ATS)

GIMME GRIZZLIES +3.5 (-110) for 1 unit. Since the beginning of last season, the Spurs have the third-lowest cover percentage as a home favorite. While the Grizzlies are only .500 ATS as a road underdog, they do have a plus-4 ATS margin in these spots since last season.

Also, Morant has balled in the last six Grizzlies-Spurs meetings, averaging 23 points per game on 53.3% field-goal shooting which is his second-highest PPG against any team. There’s no question Morant can pick up the slack until his teammates clear health and safety protocols.

Over/Under (O/U)

Sheepishly, I’m going to follow the Over trend with Grizzlies-Spurs that has cashed in four of their last five contests. Memphis and Morant do such a good job spreading the ball around that it’s hard for mediocre defenses to stop them.

If Morant is going to continue to knife through San Antonio’s defense, the Grizzlies will keep getting good looks. Memphis’ style of attacking the paint and getting in transition should push Grizzlies-Spurs Over the total.

I’ll TAKE OVER 220.5 (-110) for a half-unit.

Grizzlies at Spurs: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Spurs 115, Grizzlies 110

Money line (ML)

Both teams are on winning streaks. The Grizzlies have won five in a row and the Spurs have won three straight. San Antonio is only 5-5 at home this season but all three of the wins in their current streak are at home. Memphis is 4-1 on the road.

However, this will be the Grizzlies’ first game after five straight games were postponed. The Spurs won the season-opening matchup between these two teams 131-119 in Memphis. Take the SPURS (-160) for the win,.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Spurs have the third-best cover percentage in the league at 63.2%. Memphis is right behind at 61.5%, but the Spurs beat the spread by an average of 2.8 points.

Memphis will have some rust not having played since January 18 and are missing some key players. The Spurs beat them earlier this season in Memphis. Take the SPURS -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

San Antonio’s games go Under more often than now, doing so in 57.9% of their games. Memphis is 4-9 O/U. However, three of the last four Grizzlies-Spurs games have gone for more than tonight’s total of 220.5 points. Take OVER 220.5 (-110).

Grizzlies at Trail Blazers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 109, Trail Blazers 102

Money line (ML)

The Grizzlies are one of the hottest teams in basketball right now, having won five straight games (only the Utah Jazz have a longer winning streak right now) and playing again with PG Ja Morant. Coming back from an ankle injury, he has averaged 17 points and eight assists in his last two games. Meanwhile, Portland is down two starters with Nurkic being out at least six weeks and McCollum with a broken foot. They are 4-4 at home and have lost two of their last three overall. Take the GRIZZLIES (+105).

Against the spread (ATS)

In their five-game winning streak, the Grizzlies have gone 4-0-1 ATS. Portland has covered in only two of its last five games. The Blazers also have the second-worst ATS record at home this season, having covered the spread in only two of eight games this season. Memphis has the league’s best ATS record on the road, going 4-1 ATS away from Memphis. Their recent play, the trends, the injuries to the Blazers and the fact that I expect a Memphis win mean that you should take the GRIZZLIES +1.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

Memphis is 4-9 O/U this season and Portland is 6-8 O/U. The Grizzlies are averaging 109.6 points in their winning streak while the Blazers are scoring 108.2 points per game in their last five games. Seven of Memphis’ last nine games have gone Under, while four of the last six for Portland have also gone Under. Take UNDER 222.5 POINTS (-110).

Suns at Grizzlies: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 111, Grizzlies 105

Money line (ML)

The Suns lost in embarrassing fashion in their last game to the Washington Wizards, who then had players test positive for COVID-19, leading to three postponements for the Suns as they underwent contact tracing.

Phoenix has not lost consecutive games yet this season. Memphis, though, has won four in a row. The Suns are rested and itching to play after a week off. Take the SUNS (-190).

Against the spread (ATS)

The Suns still have the second-best cover percentage in the NBA at 63.2%. They have covered the spread in every win and, when they do not cover, they lose outright. Memphis is 7-5 ATS and 3-2 ATS as underdogs. They have been playing well but with Phoenix’s time off, I expect them to come out and play even better. Take the SUNS -4.5 (-115).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Suns still allow the sixth-fewest points in the league. Their Over percentage is only 36.4%. Memphis’ games go under in 2 of every 3. While four of the last five for Phoenix have gone Over, the layoff will slow down the pace. Take UNDER 218.5 POINTS (-110).

Grizzlies at Cavaliers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Cavaliers 98, Grizzlies 91

Money line (ML)

The CAVALIERS (-125) are worth a look on the money line, as they return home after a grueling six-game road trip, which started on New Year’s Eve in Indianapolis. The Cavaliers went just 2-4 SU during the road trip, but one of the victories was a 94-90 win in Memphis on Jan. 7. The Cavs are a little banged up, but their point guard Sexton should be back in the mix for this one, and that’s great news.

Against the spread (ATS)

The CAVALIERS -1.5 (-115) are slightly cheaper if you lay the small spread and think they can win by a bucket. The difference between the money line and spread is rather negligible, and in this particular instance it’s best to just go ML. The Cavaliers are just 2-5 ATS across their past seven games overall after a hot 3-0 SU/ATS start. The good news is that they beat Memphis already in the past week, and the Grizzlies are rather banged up, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

Hit the UNDER 217.5 (-110), and hit it hard. The Cavaliers enter on an 8-0 Under run, and they have failed to score in triple digits in each of their past seven games. In fact, they’re averaging just 91.7 PPG during the past seven, which is unheard of in this day and age of video game-like offense and cursory defense. Cleveland is very deliberate at the offense end, and they have defensive stalwart and glass cleaner Andre Drummond clogging things up and giving opposing offenses fits. These teams combined for just 184 total points against a 208.5 number on Thursday. Why the books are expecting 33 more points in the second installment is a mystery. Take advantage.

Cavaliers at Grizzlies: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 105, Cavaliers 100

Money line (ML)

The Grizzlies (-175) “should” be able to win this game, especially with the Cavaliers (+145) facing the quick turnaround after playing in Orlando last night. Cleveland opened 3-0 SU, but they’re earning their former moniker, the Cadavers, going 1-4 SU in the previous five. However, it’s hard to justify risking $1.75 for every $1 won on a Grizzlies side that has won just twice in seven total games.

PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

The GRIZZLIES -3.5 (-115) are worth playing lightly, as the Cavaliers +3.5 (-105) limp in with just one win across the past five outings while also going 1-4 ATS during the span. Memphis enters with just one win in the past four, but they covered last time out against the defending-champion Lakers, 94-92, while going 3-2 ATS across the past five. They’re on their home floor, and they will keep the visitors reeling on the road.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 211.5 (-110) is the best play on the board in this game, as the Cavaliers streak in with six consecutive Under results, including four straight on the road. The Under has also cashed in five straight as an underdog. If you think that’s impressive, the Under has connected in 18 of the previous 21 at home for the Grizzlies, while going 21-7 in their past 28 overall dating back to last season.

Lakers at Grizzlies: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Lakers 110, Grizzlies 91

Money line (ML)

The Grizzlies are without their best players Tuesday. While the Lakers could be without James, the talent level is uneven. Memphis has won only one game at home and the Lakers have won three in a row overall, including a 108-94 win two nights ago over the Grizzlies.

Take the LAKERS -455.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Lakers have been favored by at least 9.5 points twice this season. They won and covered the spread in both those games. Memphis has lost and failed to cover both games this season in which it has been at least a 7-point underdog. Without Morant or Jackson, it will be another rough night.

Take the LAKERS -8.5 (-120).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Lakers’ last five games have gone Under. Four of the last five for Memphis have as well, including when the two teams played Sunday. Memphis will be held under 100 points for the second game in a row.

Take UNDER 217.5 POINTS (-105).

Lakers at Grizzlies: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Lakers 116, Grizzlies 99

Money line (ML)

The Lakers (-450) should be able to coast to a victory in Grind City against the Grizzlies (+340), but you can’t lay four-and-a-half times your potential return. It’s just not a sound long-term betting strategy. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

LAKERS -9.5 (-110) is a good play despite the fact L.A. has covered just two of its past nine trips to Memphis. The Grizzlies +9.5 (-110) will not be their best against L.A. this time around, as missing Morant will just be too much.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 221.5 (-110) is the best play on the board in this Western Conference tilt. The Under has cashed in each of the previous five meetings on the banks of the Mississippi River, and eight consecutive meetings overall in this series. Until that trend starts to turn around, keep pounding the Under.

Memphis Grizzlies at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Charlotte Hornets NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Memphis Grizzlies (1-3) meet the Charlotte Hornets (2-2) at the Spectrum Center on New Year’s Day for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Grizzlies-Hornets NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The final score of 126-107 made the Boston Celtics beatdown of the Grizzlies as 7-point road underdogs more competitive than it actually was. Memphis’ injury report is starting to mirror an NFL roster’s as the Grizzlies are down a slew of key contributors, including the reigning Rookie of the Year—Ja Morant—and dynamic stretch four in PF Jaren Jackson Jr.

Charlotte has won back-to-back games as huge underdogs against quality competition coming into Friday’s game. The Hornets beat the brakes off of the Dallas Mavericks 118-99 as 8.5-point ‘dogs Wednesday and won vs. a fully loaded Nets team in Brooklyn 106-104 as double-digit underdogs Dec. 27.

Memphis snapped Charlotte’s head-to-head five-game winning streak (both outright and ATS) heading into last season by beating the Hornets in both meetings.

Grizzlies at Hornets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hornets 112, Grizzlies 102

Money line (ML)

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE. I’m on the Hornets in this game, but I don’t like laying -150 or greater in NBA regular-season action. I wouldn’t rule out doing a little North/South Carolina parlay with the Hornets and Clemson Tigers’ money lines.

Against the spread (ATS)

According to Pregame.com, over 80% of the market is betting Charlotte so let’s follow the money BET HORNETS -4.5 (-105) for 2 units. I am buying Hornets stock for the season and project that they’ll be at least in the Eastern Conference postseason play-in tournament at the end of the year.

A lot of the NBA community needs to get over, for whatever reason, SF Gordon Hayward didn’t work out with the Boston Celtics. He is still an All-Star-caliber player who brings veteran leadership to a young Charlotte locker room.

Hornets PG Terry Rozier has been playing good basketball to start the season and should pad his stats against whoever Memphis is starting in place of an injured Morant. Also, SF Miles Bridges’ game has steadily improved since he won the 2020 Rising Stars MVP Award during last year’s NBA All-Star Weekend.

Over/Under (O/U)

Unlike the Charlotte side, which the market is in agreement on, we have a Pros vs. Joes scenario with the total in Grizzlies-Hornets: 82% of the money is on the Under but 56% of the tickets/bets are on the Over, according to Pregame.com.

Typically the sharp side is the money column and I’d assume the bettors hitting the Under have the same questions as me about how the banged-up Grizzlies are going to get buckets.

It’s only a lean but I’ll BET UNDER 219.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit.
