Capcom has a busy few months in store, with an open beta for Exoprimal, a beloved puzzle game making a comeback, and the Blue Bomber’s tactical return to modern platforms. Jill Valentine is also showing up in some unlikely places and plays a role of some kind in quelling a zombie threat alongside Resident Evil 4 star Leon S. Kennedy.

Here’s everything you might have missed from the Capcom Spotlight.

The best RPGs of 2023 to keep an eye on: Starfield, Zelda, and more

The best RPGs of 2023 to keep on your radar run the gamut from big-hitters like Starfield to niche gems, gacha games, and more

Keeping up with the best RPGs of 2023 is no easy task. 2022 was the year of the big RPGs, like Elden Ring, Pokemon, and Xenoblade 3, but outside a few smaller there wasn’t much in between. 2023 couldn’t be more different.

The year is packed with releases, with major AAA games such as Starfield and Final Fantasy 16 launching alongside a range of promising niche games, remasters, and ports. We’ve put together a list of more than a dozen RPGs worth keeping up with as 2023 rolls on, including their release date if one is available.

New Minecraft DLC adds a classic retro game to the sandbox builder

The new Mega Man Minecraft DLC adds Mega Man X characters, bosses, and stages to Mojang’s sandbox builder, and it’s out now

There’s a new Mega Man Minecraft DLC that adds Mega Man X characters, bosses, and stages to Mojang’s sandbox builder, and it’s out now. The DLC puts you in the blocky shoes of Mega Man X and recreates some of the SNES classic’s most iconic moments recreated in blocky 3D, including levels rebuilt from the original with a twist and even a hub space where you can spend some time with Zero.

The twist is that each of the expansion’s stages will switch periodically between 3D sidescrolling and first-person, similar to what Capcom experimented with in Mega Man Legends. It supports multiplayer, so you can team up with friends if you need a helping hand.

You’ll hunt down four Mavericks on your journey, Sting Chameleon, Storm Eagle, Armored Armadillo, and Chill Penguin, before raiding Sigma’s multi-level fortress and taking down the big bad in a final fight.

The DLC also reimagines the Mega Man X soundtrack and adds 14 skins of characters from the game, including X himself, of course, and Dr. Wily and Dr. Cain.

The Mega Man X Minecraft DLC is available for purchase for 1,340 Minecoins, or roughly $10, from the Minecraft Marketplace, and it works with any up-to-date version of Minecraft Bedrock on console and PC.

Netflix is reportedly making a live-action Mega Man film

The blue bomber is coming back.

A live-action Mega Man  movie is reportedly in the works at Netflix.

A report by IGN  states that the streaming powerhouse is adapting Capcom’s titular blue bomber for its platform. Apparently, the project is in very early development, so we probably won’t hear anything concrete about it soon. Netflix hasn’t even confirmed the film’s existence, but production company Supermarché accidentally spilled the beans  on its website.

“Henry, Rel, and their in-house producer Orlee-Rose Strauss maintain an active development slate. Features in the works include: an adaptation of Capcom’s Mega Man for Chernin Entertainment and Netflix, which they wrote and are directing,” reads Henry Joost and Rel Schulman’s bio page on Supermarché via Rockman Corner.

Capcom’s IPs haven’t had the best luck when it comes to live-action adaptations. Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, which came out last month, is one of the  worst-reviewed films of 2021.

Video game adaptations are always a mixed bag. There’s quite a long list of  terrible films based on video games, but the tides are slowly turning. The first season of Arcane League of Legends  was such a commercial and critical success that  Netflix immediately greenlit a second seasonCastlevania  also had a  popular run on the streaming platform, so if anyone can do Mega Man  justice, it’s Netflix.
