Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Jasmine Jasudavicius added to UFC Fight Night in Riyadh

The first-ever women’s UFC fight in Saudi Arabia is set for the promotion’s Feb. 1 card in Riyadh.

[autotag]Mayra Bueno Silva[/autotag] is returning to the women’s flyweight division to face [autotag]Jasmine Jasudavicius[/autotag] at February’s UFC event in Saudi Arabia.

Two fights removed from fighting for the vacant women’s bantamweight title, Bueno Silva (10-4-1 MMA, 5-4-1 UFC) will make her way back down to 125 pounds for a three-round clash with Jasudavicius (12-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) at UFC Fight Night: Riyadh on Feb. 1 at The Venue. Broadcast plans for the card have yet to be announced.

The UFC announced the matchup on Monday.

Bueno Silva, 33, will attempt to snap a three-fight winless skid. Her past two appearances include a unanimous decision defeat to Raquel Pennington in January, as well as a doctor’s stoppage TKO defeat to Macy Chiasson at UFC 303 in June.

Jasudavicius, 35, has the chance to put a notable name on her resume after winning five of her past six bouts, including three straight. The Canadian is coming off a third-round submission of Ariane Lipski at UFC Fight Night 246 this month.

The latest UFC Fight Night: Riyadh card now includes:

  • Shara Magomedov vs. Michael Page
  • Ikram Aliskerov vs. Andre Muniz
  • Sergei Pavlovich vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik
  • Hamdy Abdelwahab vs. Jamal Pogues
  • Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Jasmine Jasudavicius

Mayra Bueno Silva fined for hopping cage to speak with Dana White at UFC 303

Don’t hop the fence, UFC fighters … or Nevada will come for a portion of your paycheck.

Don’t hop the fence, UFC fighters … or Nevada will come for a portion of your paycheck.

[autotag]Mayra Bueno Silva[/autotag]’s decision to scale the fence and speak to Dana White immediately following the stoppage in her UFC 303 bout has cost her.

On Thursday, the Nevada Athletic Commission fined Bueno Silva $2,500, plus $157.04 in prosecution fees, for leaping the cage after her June 29 bout at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas ended in a doctor’s stoppage.

The commission said Bueno Silva “against previous instruction exited the octagon by jumping over the fence.”

The fine is the second time this year a UFC contender has received such a fine. Diego Lopes was hit with the same $2,500 punishment after he jumped the cage at UFC 300 in April.

Bueno Silva has not commented publicly on the matter.

LAS VEGAS – The Nevada Athletic Commission reconvened Tuesday for its monthly meeting where it discussed a handful of topics.

Pertinent to MMA, items related to potential disciplinary action included hearings for UFC fighters [autotag]Mayra Bueno Silva[/autotag] and [autotag]Khalil Rountree[/autotag], as well as former UFC fighter [autotag]Justin Jaynes[/autotag].

MMA Junkie was in attendance for the meeting and recorded the discussions for all three items. Details for all three matters were revealed, though decisions on these items were continued for future meetings.

The next NAC meeting takes place Aug. 27.

Mayra Bueno Silva has portion of UFC 303 purse withheld by Nevada commission

At UFC 303, Mayra Bueno Silva hopped the cage to show Dana White her cut, and now she could lose four digits-worth of her purse.

[autotag]Mayra Bueno Silva[/autotag] is the most recent fighter to have a small portion of their purse withheld by the Nevada Athletic Commission for hopping the cage post-fight.

At a monthly commission hearing Tuesday, the NAC announced it has temporarily withheld $2,500 from Silva for jumping the cage to show Dana White her gnarly facial laceration immediately after her June 29 bout vs. Macy Chiasson at UFC 303 was stopped by the doctor. The commission claims fighters were explicitly instructed not to leave the fight surface.

A decision on a sanction was not yet handed out. The matter was continued, meaning Silva will appear on a future monthly meeting agenda where the NAC will officially approve any potential fines or suspensions.

Silva is the second prominent UFC fighter to receive a fine for the maneuver in recent months. UFC featherweight contender Diego Lopes was fined $2,500 for leaping the cage at UFC 300 in April. Initially, the commission withheld $5,000 from him.

UFC 303 results: Gnarly gash on Mayra Bueno Silva ends fight – all thanks to Macy Chiasson’s elbow

No, Mayra Bueno Silva was not hit in the head with an ax.

A nasty gash caused a halt to the women’s bantamweight fight on the UFC 303 main card Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Midway through Round 2, [autotag]Macy Chiasson[/autotag] drilled [autotag]Mayra Bueno Silva[/autotag] in the forehead with a massive elbow. The blow immediately caused blood, and upon the two fighters rising to the feet, referee Chris Tognoni called timeout.

The cageside physician entered the cage and inspected Silva (10-4-1 MMA, 5-4-1 UFC), who leaked all over herself. The gash was massive and induced groans from the audience when the doctor spread it apart. Upon the advice of the medical professional, Tognoni waved off the fight at 1:58 of Round 2 and Chiasson (11-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) was declared the victor.

Fortis MMA’s Chiasson has won two fights in a row. She previously competed in March when she finished Pannie Kianzad with strikes.

The defeat is Silva’s second in a row and the first since her unsuccessful title bid against Raquel Pennington in June.

Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Macy Chiasson prediction, pick, start time, odds for UFC 303

Two bantamweight title hopefuls Mayra Bueno Silva and Macy Chiasson throw down on the UFC 303 main card. Who gets closer to a title shot?

[autotag]Mayra Bueno Silva[/autotag] and [autotag]Macy Chiasson[/autotag] meet Saturday on the main card of UFC 303 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

Last event: 3-2
UFC main cards, 2024: 52-49-2

Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Macy Chiasson UFC 303 preview

Silva (10-3-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) returns for the first time since coming up short in her bid for the vacant bantamweight title. Silva lost a unanimous decision to Raquel Pennington at UFC 297, snapping a three-fight winning streak, not including a submission over Holly Holm that was later overturned to a no contest. … Chiasson (10-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) enters her second fight of the year as well, following a first-round submission of Pannie Kianzad in March. Winner of Season 28 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Chiasson will look to put together back-to-back wins for the first time since defeating Shanna Young in 2020 and Marion Reneau a year later.

Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Macy Chiasson UFC 303 expert pick, prediction

Filling out the main card is an affair at women’s flyweight between Silva and Chiasson.

Considering her unfortunate luck with fight cancellations, it’s nice to see Chiasson stay more active by making a relatively quick turnaround here.

Chiasson also appeared to better manage her weight cut last time out, which is a great sign for her potential future in this division. That said, I’m still not sure her size translates to staying power when the sparks start to fly.

The stock of Silva may be low after her disappointing bid for the bantamweight title earlier this year, but the fighter from Brazil apparently sustained an injury by the end of the first round (which could help explain some things).

Although I can still see a reality where the Fortis MMA product can use her size and skills to grind Silva against the cage regardless of her health, I suspect that Silva’s front-choke savvy could serve as a solid counter-grappling tool in this fight.

Add in the fact that Silva’s body and leg kicks should be especially live against Chiasson, and I can’t help but back the former title challenger to snatch up a submission on the American in round 2.

Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Macy Chiasson UFC 303 odds

Despite the oddsmakers opening the Brazilian as a bigger favorite, public money has pushed this fight to a pick’em, listing Silva at -113 and Chiasson -113 via FanDuel.

Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Macy Chiasson UFC 303 start time, how to watch

As the second main card bout, Silva and Chiasson are expected to make their walks to the cage at approximately 10:45 p.m. ET (7:45 p.m. local time in Las Vegas). The fight streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
