After the Warriors couldn’t complete a comeback on the way to another loss to the Mavs, NBA Twitter weighed in with different reactions.

After Luke Doncic led the Dallas Mavericks to a 14 point advantage at halftime, it looked like Luka Doncic and company were on their way to their second win over the Golden State Warriors in the same week.

However, with a late surge led by rookie Moses Moody, the Warriors were able to tie the game in the fourth quarter. Yet, after tying the contest in the fourth quarter, the Warriors couldn’t land the final knockout punch to complete the comeback.

Behind 41 points on 15-of-26 shooting from the field with 10 boards and nine assists from Doncic, the Mavericks handed the Warriors their third consecutive defeat, 122-113.

Along with fireworks from Doncic on offense, the Mavericks defense held Steph Curry to 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor. According to ESPN Stats and Info, Curry did not attempt a shot in the fourth quarter for the first time in his career.

Although the Warriors’ slide continued, Jordan Poole bounced back with 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor with three boards, two assists and two steals in 27 minutes off the bench.

After the Warriors let a 21 point lead slip away to the Mavericks in a letdown loss, NBA Twitter exploded with different reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Sunday.

With a commanding 21 point lead in the third quarter, the Golden State Warriors looked to be cruising to a blowout victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night at San Francisco’s Chase Center.

However, Luka Doncic and Spencer Dinwiddie had different plans. While the Warriors’ offense struggled to find the bottom of the net, the Mavericks caught fire. A red-hot 19-1 run in the fourth quarter cut the Warriors’ lead to only one point with under four minutes remaining.

After cutting into Golden State’s lead, Dallas showed no signs of slowing down on the way to a shocking comeback win in San Francisco, 107-101. In the fourth quarter, the Mavs outscored the Warriors 33-13.
In the final frame, the Warriors’ offense went ice-cold, shooting a lowly 5-of-21 from the field.

Steph Curry led the Warriors with 27 points on 11-of-25 shooting from the field with 10 assists, four rebounds and two steals in 38 minutes. Andrew Wiggins and Gary Payton II were the only other members of the Warriors to record double figures in scoring.

The Mavericks’ new-look backcourt of Doncic and Dinwiddie combined for 58 points against the Warriors on Sunday night.

3 things to know: Rough first half leads to blowout loss for Warriors vs. Mavs, 133-103

An ice-cold scoring drought in the first half set the Golden State Warriors up for an ugly blowout loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.

After back-to-back victories, the Golden State Warriors welcomed the Dallas Mavericks to Chase Center on Tuesday night in a contest with serious postseason implications.

With Golden State in the position for a play-in playoff game at the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference, a victory over the sixth-seeded Mavericks was crucial for playoff positioning.

Instead, the Warriors fell flat after the Mavericks dropped early haymakers. In the first half, the Warriors endured a scoring drought, registering zero points in a 9-minute, 40-second stretch.

As the Warriors went quiet, Luka Doncic pushed the Mavs to a dominant 62-29 lead before halftime, essentially ending the game shortly after it started. Doncic posted a game-high 39 points on 15-of-23 shooting from the floor with eight assists and six rebounds.

Steph Curry led the Warriors with 27 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor with two assists and two steals in 30 minutes. However, it wasn’t close to enough in a 133-103 loss.

The Warriors will need to reset before the team leaves on the final road swing on the season, starting with a tilt against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday evening. The Warriors have 10 games left on the schedule during a pivotal stretch run to the postseason.

First quarter

Golden State’s scoring drought began shortly after the tip, starting in the first quarter. Behind eight points from Curry on 2-of-6 shooting from the floor, the Warriors mustered 12 total points in the first quarter. Mychal Mulder and Andrew Wiggins were the only other members of the Warriors to notch a bucket in the opening quarter.

As a team, the Warriors shot  4-of-21 from the floor in the first quarter. Tim Hardaway Jr. nearly outscored the Warriors’ entire team with 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field in six minutes.

The Warriors’ rough scoring stretch bled deep into the second quarter, resulting in the lowest-scoring half in the Steve Kerr era, 29 points.

After snapping his historic 11-game streak with 30 or more points in a loss to the Washington Wizards, Curry has bounced back with back-to-back efforts with 32 or more points.
