ONE 168 adds Maurice Abevi vs. Samat Mamedov to Denver lineup

ONE 168 takes place this September on American soil.

One of Asia’s leading mixed martial arts promotions is set to return to American soil and the lineup is expanding.

ONE 168 takes place Sept. 6 at Ball Arena in Denver. The most recent addition is a three-round welterweight bout between [autotag]Maurice Abevi[/autotag] (8-1) and [autotag]Samat Mamedov[/autotag] (10-0), promotion officials Tuesday informed MMA Junkie.

Abevi (8-1) rides a two-fight winning streak into the matchup. He most recently competed in May when he defeated UFC alum Lipeng Zhang by unanimous decision. Prior to that Abevi finished Blake Cooper, brother of PFL standout Ray, by first-round TKO.

Mamedov (10-0) is a finisher with nine stoppages in 10 appearances including six submissions and three TKOs. This bout will be his promotional debut, which comes after he choked out UFC alum Will Chope in 71 seconds for Kazakh promotion Octagon League.

With the addition, the ONE 168 lineup includes:

  • Jonathan Haggerty vs. Superlek Kiatmoo – muay Thai
  • Mikey Musumeci vs. Kade Ruotolo – grappling
  • Liam Harrison vs. Saeksan Or Kwanmuang – muay Thai
  • Maurice Abevi vs. Samat Mamedov – MMA

ONE Fight Night 14 takes place Friday and features Stamp Fairtex, John Lineker, Danielle Kelly, and more.

ONE Championship returned Friday with a mixed event filled with some of the promotion’s best competitors.

ONE Fight Night 14 took place at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore and streamed on Amazon Prime.

In the main event fan-favorite [autotag]Stamp Fairtex[/autotag] (11-2) fought former UFC fighter [autotag]Seo Hee Ham[/autotag] (26-9) for the vacant 115-pound title. The championship bout was one of three on the card, but the only that was MMA.

The co-main event featured a 125-pound muay thai title bout between champion [autotag]Smilla Sundell[/autotag] and [autotag]Allycia Rodrigues[/autotag], who battled after rising sensation [autotag]Danielle Kelly[/autotag] went up against [autotag]Jessa Khan[/autotag] in a championship grappling bout.

Former UFC standout [autotag]John Lineker[/autotag] (37-10) also competed on the card, as he battled [autotag]Stephan Loman[/autotag] (17-3) in a matchup that was originally scheduled to take place in 2021.
