Four-star QB Matt Zollers names top schools

Four-star class of 2025 quarterback recruit Matt Zollers includes Georgia football in his top schools

Four-star quarterback recruit Matt Zollers has named his top four schools. Zollers is a member of the class of 2025. He plays high school football for Spring-Ford High School in Royersford, Pennsylvania.

Zollers is a good athlete with a powerful arm. He also plays basketball at a high level for Spring-Ford. Zollers’ arm strength and mobility mean that he could finish ranked as one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2025.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound quarterback is the No. 13 player at his position in the 2025 cycle. Zollers is the nation’s No. 197 recruit and No. 6 player in Pennsylvania, per 247Sports.

The Spring-Ford star threw for 2,917 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and just two interceptions as a junior. Who are Matt Zollers’ top four schools?

Highest-rated Pennsylvania QB has Penn State in top four

Penn State in the final running for top in-state QB recruiting target in 2025.

Penn State is coming out of a weekend where they hosted their final Junior Day that welcomed multiple recruits from different classes to visit the campus and meet with the coaching staff.

Plenty of high-profile players were in attendance during the three events.

One of their most important visitors was in-state quarterback, [autotag]Matt Zollers[/autotag], who the Nittany Lions are heavily recruiting.

The 6’3″ 200-pounder is rated as a four-star and is the No. 6 overall player in Pennsylvania according to On3’s Industry Rankings.

Zollers is seen as an important recruit for [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] and his staff as there hasn’t been a priority quarterback in the state for some time. Landing him would be a huge win for the program.

His recruitment began to become national and he skipped the second Junior Day in Happy Valley to take visits down south.

However, that seemingly has not deterred him away from Penn State as he has included the Nittany Lions in his top four schools.

The three others on his list are Pittsburgh, Georgia and Missouri.

Zollers doesn’t have a frontrunner as of now according to Greg Pickel of BlueWhiteIllustrated. He was playing basketball for his high school in the winter and was waiting until after the season to take visits.

But, he does like the offensive set up that the Nittany Lions have, telling Pickel, “It’s great to have a coach that is just the OC and a coach that is just the quarterback coach, and both of them work very well together in developing quarterbacks.”

It will be very interesting to see how this process plays out.

Zollers is clearly a major target of Penn State. Them making his final four should allow them to push even harder to land a commitment from the four-star in-state quarterback.

Blue-chip 2025 quarterback recruit talks Gators, others after visits

The Gators made some progress with this 2025 quarterback recruit on a recent visit to the Swamp.

The Florida football program has been busy these last two weeks on the recruiting front as Billy Napier and Co. continue their efforts to rebuild a once-proud Gators program.

A couple of weekends ago, the team hosted four-star quarterback [autotag]Matt Zollers[/autotag] out of Royersford (Pennsylvania) Spring-Ford in the 2025 cycle for a campus visit. The 6-foot-3.5-inch, 205-pound signal-caller was impressed with his experience in Hogtown.

“It was great,” Zollers told 247Sports regarding his Gainesville visit. “The facilities and all the coaches and assistants were great. I had an amazing time up there seeing everything.”

As a result of his positive experience, the high school junior is really feeling the vibe in the Swamp.

“Definitely the style of offense that they run up there and the environment inside the quarterback room,” he offered.

However, the Orange and Blue are not the only program in pursuit of the coveted passer. He has also made visits to see the Penn State Nittany Lions and Georgia Bulldogs.

“I really like how genuine all the coaches up there are and they really know what they are talking about on the football side of things,” Zollers said of his UGA experience.

“Coach Kotelnicki and Coach O’Brien work super well together and really know what they are talking about, and have a great way of developing me to excel at the college level and above,” he added in regards to his PSU visit.

Zollers is ranked No. 197 overall and No. 13 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 202 and 14, respectively.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Penn State on top with a 48.2% chance of landing him, followed by the Pittsburgh Panthers (17.4%), Old Dominion Monarchs (7.8%) and Georgia (6.5%).

Penn State heavily recruiting top in-state quarterback in 2025 class

Penn State wants the best in PA to stay in PA, including this quarterback target in 2025.

College football is getting more similar to the National Football League in the fact that to win big, teams need to have elite quarterback talent.

That wasn’t always the case, but it’s now more evident than ever that quarterbacks are driving the results of programs that are able to lift trophies at the end of the season.

Penn State has seemingly picked up on this, evident by their relentless pursuit of multiple quarterbacks in their last few classes.

2025 will be no different.

They have already secured a commitment from [autotag]Bekkem Kritza[/autotag], but that has not stopped them in their heavy pursuit of the top quarterback prospect in the state of Pennsylvania, [autotag]Matt Zollers[/autotag].

Rated as a four-star, Zollers is a 6′ 3″ 200-pound gunslinger who has a big arm and can move around in the pocket and scramble for large chunks of yards.

He will be visiting Happy Valley this weekend for the third and final Junior Day, marking his sixth visit to campus.

As an in-state prospect, his recruitment is not quite as straightforward as one might expect. He’s recently taken a much more national approach having spent time down south this past weekend visiting Florida, USF, Georgia, and Missouri instead of attending Junior Day at Penn State last weekend.

This has created a larger sense of urgency for the Nittany Lions to increase their recruitment of the four-star quarterback.

Sean Fitz of On3 (subscription required), recently said that Zollers is one of Penn State’s top-10 targets on the board and James Franklin visited him at his high school in Royersford, PA on Friday ahead of the Junior Day visit this weekend.

For all intents and purposes, the Nittany Lions are the favorites to land Zollers according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, but it’s still early in his process with other offers seemingly still coming in this spring.

This will be perhaps the most important visit he’s taken to Penn State as new offensive coordinator [autotag]Andy Kotelnicki[/autotag] starts to develop a relationship with him and he continues to build on the previous one he has with quarterbacks coach [autotag]Danny O’Brien[/autotag].

Four-star quarterback adds Florida to busy recruiting schedule

After presenting four-star quarterback Matt Zollers with a scholarship offer last week, the Florida Gators are getting him on campus.

Spring-Ford (Royersford, Pennsylvania) quarterback Matt Zollers plans to visit three programs in three days, according to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.

In between visits to USF and Georgia on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, Zollers will stop by the Swamp in Gainesville to meet the staff at the University of Florida.

Zollers completed just under 63 percent of his pass attempts as a junior in 2023, ending the year with 2,917 yards and 37 touchdowns. He’s a consensus four-star recruit, ranked the highest by 247Sports at No. 149 overall.

The On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average of all four major services, puts him at No. 203 nationally and No. 14 among quarterbacks. Penn State is the favorite to land him, per the On3 recruiting prediction machine.

Florida only offered him last Friday, though, so the Gators could pick up steam after making proper introductions. However, Zollers is hoping to make his decision once basketball season ends, according to Gators Online’s Corey Bender.

Michigan State football offers 2025 4-star QB Matt Zollers

Michigan State football offers 2025 4-star QB Matt Zollers

As a former (very good) college quarterback, we know that new MSU head coach Jonathan Smith has a penchant for quarterbacks. With an empty quarterback room and a few recruiting de-commitments, Jonathan Smith has been able to start his new quarterback room and recruiting board with a blank slate, so it’s no surprise that we’ve seen a deluge of news around that position since Smith took over.

The latest came on Saturday, when the Spartans offered 2025 4-star QB Matt Zollers.

Zollers is the No. 8 ranked QB by 247Sports and their No. 147 ranked player overall.
