2024 was a historic year for the Texas A&M women’s tennis team, which claimed the NCAA title in a rematch against the Georgia Bulldogs. They brought home the program’s first-ever title and are ready to make another run.
On January 6, the ITA ranked the 2024 NCAA champions as the No. 2 ranked team in the nation. In addition, they came in ranked as the No. 3 in the SEC preseason coaches’ poll behind Georgia and Texas to start this season. Even with A&M returning five of six key players, the SEC, like every other sport, is the top in the nation, and nothing is given.
Coach Mark Weaver is excited to start the season, and his team is ready.
“There is always that extra bit of excitement for the season opener and we are ready to get after it, We have been having some excellent practices along with a lot of matches under our belt from the Hawaii trip and our group is ready to go.”
