SLAM releases Call of Duty Warzone loadouts of Alex Caruso and others

Lakers guard Alex Caruso uses a quality loadout on Call of Duty Warzone

Call of Duty Warzone is a battle royale of cat and mouse — it’s the ultimate give and take. If a player is too aggressive, their squad might find themselves in a situation that’s tough to emerge from alive.

But if a player is too passive, the team could end up having an early exit from the battle field.

So to be the last team standing — or last person if playing solos — having a quality loadout that works well is key. Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso has a loadout that would be conducive to winning on any squad and would span multiple styles of play.

Athletes and their Warzone loadouts pt.2 👀

A post shared by SLAM GAMING (@slamftw) on

SLAM Gaming released Caruso’s loadout Wednesday, along with the loadouts of players such as Semi Ojeleye, Mario Hezonja and Seth Curry. Caruso uses the M4A1 as his primary weapon, with an RPG as his secondary. For his lethal, he uses C4; for his tactical, he uses a heartbeat sensor, which scans for nearby players.

The M4A1 is one of the most effective assault rifles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It is especially productive at medium range and can earn a decent player kills if used correctly.

With the RPG, Caruso can use that and the C4 to blow up oncoming trucks or vehicles in Warzone. The heartbeat sensor is particularly helpful when a team is around the top 15 left, as there are fewer players to account for. Being cognizant of where those players are is helpful to win games.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the hotels will have video games available for players during the Orlando restart. Perhaps Caruso could play some Warzone during his down time.

Josh Hart remains undefeated in SLAM’s latest Call of Duty tournament

Josh Hart continued to be a valuable player for his team in SLAM’s latest Call of Duty tournament.

New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Hart had something to say during the middle of SLAM’s latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tournament.

“I’m just saying, I’m the undefeated champ right now,” Hart said on his stream, per SLAM’s Twitter account. “I’m 4-0. I haven’t lost in this.”

Hart remained undefeated Saturday night, helping Meyers Leonard’s team earn a win in week five of the Call of Duty tournaments. Hart and company won the series 4-3, defeating a team led by Donovan Mitchell. Portland Trail Blazers forward Mario Hezonja, Atlanta Hawks guard Brandon Goodwin and Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette made up some of Mitchell’s team.

Hart’s team included Washington Mystics forward Aerial Powers, Pittsburgh Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and Boston Celtics forward Semi Ojeleye.

As a staple of the winning teams, Hart spoke about how his skills have helped his squads.

“You know what, I might not be the MVP,” Hart said. “Not everyone’s the MVP. But we have role players. I play my role. I bring the team together.”

Hart had a solid game in the fourth match of the series, when his team defeated Mitchell’s, 6-3, in Search and Destroy on St. Petrograd. He was one of three players on his team who tallied seven kills, with Powers and Leonard being the other two.

During that game, Smith-Schuster tied for first on the team with nine kills. Though Hart never had a kill-death ratio of one or higher, he contributed throughout.

The most kills he had in one game was 19, when he and his team won, 200-185, in Domination on Shoot House.

As a regular in the tournaments, Hart has made an impact for his teams. A quality contributor, Hart’s consistency makes him a quality Call of Duty gamer.

Semi Ojeleye and Team Meyers win in SLAM’s latest Call of Duty tourney

Semi Ojeleye showed out during his first appearance in SLAM’s Call of Duty tournaments.

SLAM added a few newcomers to its Call of Duty: Modern Warfafe tourney Saturday, and the Boston Celtics had a representative on the sticks.

Semi Ojeleye displayed his skills as a member of Meyers Leonard’s team. Leonard and company defeated a squad led by Donovan Mitchell, 4-3, in SLAM’s fifth Call of Duty tournament. Washington Mystics forward Aerial Powers, New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Hart, Pittsburgh Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster were also on the winning team.

The rest of Mitchell’s team included Portland Trail Blazers wing Mario Hezonja, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette and Atlanta Hawks guard Brandon Goodwin.

Ojeleye’s team had a 3-1 series lead after winning, 6-3, in Search and Destroy on the map St. Petrograd.

Mitchell and his squad got a close 3-2 win in Capture the Flag, as well as a  dominant 200-42 win in Headquarters to tie the series at 3-3.

Leonard’s squad closed the final game of the series well. The two teams played Domination on Hackney Yard, and Leonard’s team won 200-116. Ojeleye boasted a kill-death ratio of 2.07, and he had the second-highest number of kills on his team (31). Smith-Schuster had a team-high 51 kills in leading the team to the series-clinching win.

Ojeleye was one of his team’s top performers throughout the series. One of his best performances came during the first game, when the two teams played Search and Destroy on Crash. Ojeleye tied for first on his team in kills (11), as the squad won 6-1.

He had another quality performance during the second game of the series. The teams played Domination on Shoot House, and Ojeleye and company won, 200-185. He had 40 kills, the second-most on the team behind Leonard’s 48.

With Ojeleye having a good showing in his first appearance, perhaps he’ll play in future Call of Duty tournaments and help his team snag wins.

Josh Hart helps lead team to win in SLAM’s third Call of Duty tourney

Josh Hart had another good showing in SLAM’s third Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tourney.

New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Hart added to his flawless record Saturday in SLAM’s latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tournament.

Hart has played in each of the tournaments, and he picked up a third straight win in this weekend’s tourney. Hart’s team included Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons, Washington Mystics forward Aerial Powers and Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker. The four hoopers helped their squad to a sweep against a team led by Miami Heat big man Meyers Leonard.

The rest of the opposing team consisted of De’Aaron Fox, Mario Hezonja, Grayson Allen, Donovan Mitchell and Kentucky commit Terrence Clarke.

Hart was particularly effective in his team’s last two wins of the sweep. The third game was Domination on the map Hackney Yard. Hart and company won the game, 200-181, and Hart had the second-highest number of kills with 36.

The last game in the series was Capture the Flag on Vacant. Hart and his squad snagged a close 3-2 win to seal the series. He finished with a score of 1,675 and 13 kills.

Hart has been a key part of each winning team in the Call of Duty matches. He’s been on Simmons’ team twice, and during the second week of tournaments he was with Leonard’s squad.

Though Hart hasn’t necessarily been a star on his teams, he has thrived in his role as a player who can tally fairly high scores.

Ben Simmons and squad earn sweep in SLAM’s latest Call of Duty tourney

Ben Simmons and his team did the sweeping this time around in SLAM’s latest Call of Duty tourney.

Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons had his squad rolling from the jump in SLAM’s latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tournament.

After his team was swept in SLAM’s second Call of Duty tourney, Simmons and company earned a sweep Saturday in week three of the tournaments. Simmons was joined by Washington Mystics forward Aerial Powers, Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker and New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Hart.

The opposing team included Meyers Leonard, De’Aaron Fox, Grayson Allen, Donovan Mitchell, Mario Hezonja and Kentucky commit Terrence Clarke.

With the win, Simmons now has two wins total in SLAM’s Call of Duty tourneys. Booker and Powers were both newcomers, playing in their first round of tournaments.

Both proved to be quality teammates alongside Simmons, one of the NBA’s best Call of Duty players.

Like Simmons, Booker is a top-tier Call of Duty gamer. He showcased his skill set during the first game, boasting a team-high 18 kills in Search and Destroy on the map Arklov Peak.

After the win in Search and Destroy, Simmons’ team had their closest match of the series. Leonard and his team was most competitive during Headquarters on Rammaza, where Simmons’ squad got a 199-182 win. Time ran out before any team got to the typical winning score of 200.

Leonard finished with a team-high 53 kills in Headquarters, and Hezonja had the most captures on the team with nine.

Powers was a quality contributor during the team’s win in Domination on Hackney Yard. Powers finished 11 kills and six captures, tying for the second-highest number of captures on her team.

The series-clincher came in Capture the Flag on Vacant, where Simmons’ squad won 3-2. This game was arguably Simmons’ best. He ran all over the map, covering different areas so his teammates could return the flag. Simmons finished with a team-high 35 kills, and Booker was not far behind with 30.

The two teams played out the rest of the series’ matches, with one of the remaining three being Free for All on Rust. Simmons finished in fifth place, with Booker coming in first and Leonard placing second.

With SLAM’s Call of Duty tournaments, fans are getting to see how hoopers are skilled in other areas off the court. As physical distancing continues, the tournaments are also a good outlet for the players to have while they stay at home.

Bronny James gamed with NBA players in SLAM’s Call of Duty tourney

Bronny James Jr. showed out on the sticks Saturday night during SLAM’s Call of Duty tourney

At 15 years old Bronny James Jr. is in the prime of his video game days, and he showed he is not to be played with on the sticks Saturday night.

SLAM held a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tourney, and it live streamed the games on Twitch.  A freshman at Sierra Canyon, Bronny played with and against NBA players in the 6 vs. 6 tourney. Meyers Leonard, Mario Hezonja, Zach LaVine and Donovan Mitchell were on his team.

The NBA players on the opposing team were Ben Simmons, Royce O’Neale, Josh Hart, along with Kentucky commit Terrence Clarke. Bronny and his team lost the series, 4-3, nearly coming back from a 3-0 deficit.

The first game Bronny and his team won was Capture the Flag on the map Speedball. Hezonja was the MVP of that game, but Bronny and Leonard were viable sidekicks. Along with playing well in Capture the Flag, Bronny also had a solid game when the group played Headquarters on Shoot House.

With the country engaging in social distancing to slow the spread of the coronavirus, events like these can be a good way for athletes and their fans to interact with each other.
