Mariners centerfielder Billy Hamilton just made one of the most ridiculous catches you’ll see all year

BILLY HAMILTON, WHAT A CATCH

Yes, it’s early. I mean, actually, it’s earlier than early. Major League Baseball’s regular season hasn’t even started yet.

But, I promise you, what you’re about to see is going to go down as one of the best plays you’ll see all season long and will almost certainly be one of the best catches you’ll see all year long.

Mariners’ centerfielder Billy Hamilton made an absolutely spectacular over-the-wall catch completely robbing Elias Diaz of a home run during this spring training game.

I don’t care if it was a spring training game. An amazing catch is an amazing catch, y’all. He climbs the wall!

Just look at this, man.

SHEEEEEEEEEESH. This man just evoked shades of Bo Jackson and Spider-Man all in one single moment. Incredible.

Hamilton is trying to make the roster at this point and it’s going to be an uphill battle to get it done with the Mariners potentially carrying 3 catchers on their roster to start the year.

But, uh, Billy just made his case with that. And it’s a pretty compelling one that I’m sure some team will hear out. Even if it’s not the Mariners.

MLB fans everywhere were impressed with this.

Seahawks DE Carlos Dunlap’s first pitch at Mariners game goes just a bit outside

Watch Seattle defensive end Carlos Dunlap attempt to throw out the first pitch at yesterday’s Mariners game.

It’s usually not a good sign when the Mariners have a better winning percentage than the Seahawks. That’s the case heading into October, though. Seattle is 17 games over .500 and 1.5 games back in the wild-card race with five to go. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are 1-2 heading into their big NFC West showdown with the rival 49ers.

The main reason is a failure at all three levels of the defense. Apparently, the issues extend across sports. Watch defensive end Carlos Dunlap attempt to throw out the first pitch at yesterday’s Mariners game.

In his defense, Dunlaps says teeball is as far as he got.

As for his first sport, Dunlap has two quarterback hits, three pressures and one of the team’s pathetic five pass deflections on the season.

The trade to acquire Dunlap was a huge reason why Seattle’s defense improved in the second half of the 2020 campaign. Hopefully he’ll help engineer a similar turnaround this year. Through three weeks, the team ranks No. 32 in yards allowed.

Vlad Guerrero Jr. predicted how he would score from first base on a double and it was so wild

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. really predicted exactly how he was was going to score

He’s only been in the majors for a few years now, but the legend of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is already growing.

This is only his third season in the big leagues but he’s already a legitimate MVP candidate. He leads the AL in hits with 104 and RBI’s with 73. This dude is a legitimate stud.

He also might be clairvoyant, apparently? At least, that’s what it seemed like when the Blue Jays played the Mariners.

Vlad Jr. made it to first base on a walk and was chatting it up on base with Mariners’ first baseman, Ty France. France joked that Vlad Jr. should try to steal the base.

He told him he didn’t have to. Why? Because his teammate, Randal Grichuk, was about to hit a double. And he was going to score from first.

That’s exactly what happened.

“France: Now you’ve got to steal second. Come on. You tell them not to pick off.

Guerrero Jr.: I can’t, bro. Now Grichuk is about to hit a double…I’ll probably score. Probably.”

This guy, man. What a legend. France put it perfectly.

“He just told me Grichuk’s going to hit a double and I’m going to score from first. That’s exactly what he just don’t me. A man of his word.”

Seems to be that way.

Prediction

Angels 7, Mariners 4

Moneyline (ML)

Back the ANGELS (-193) as heavy favorites over the Mariners (+170) as both teams seek their second win. The Angels were dropped 3-0 by the rival Oakland Athletics Monday, while the M’s fell 8-5 to the Houston Astros in another AL West contest.

The Angels won the 2019 season series 10-9 despite losing the first four games. Even without Rendon in the lineup, they have the offense with the most potential, led by OF Mike Trout.

Sheffield-Sandoval has the makings of an excellent intra-divisional pitching matchup for years to come, but Sandoval has the edge early in both of their careers, particularly in his home park.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Angels would return a profit of $5.20 with a win.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Get better value with the ANGELS -1.5 (+105) by backing them to win by at least two runs. The Angels’ bullpen has the advantage early in the season with 6 earned runs allowed over 18 1/3 total innings, while M’s relievers have given up 8 runs across 17 2/3 innings.

Expect Sandoval to go a little deeper into the game with the Angels being able to tack on an extra couple of runs after Sheffield is pulled.

Over/Under (O/U)

The line is set at an even 9 runs, leaving the door open for a push in a tight divisional matchup. Err on the safe side and take the OVER 9 (-110). Seattle is 3-0-1 against the O/U through four games while exceeding the projections by 2.2 runs per game. The Angels are 2-2 against projected run totals.

Seahawks could start the 2020 season with 2 road games

The Seattle Seahawks could start the 2020 NFL season with two road games, or at least one thanks to the Mariners and Sounders’ schedules.

The Seattle Seahawks could start the 2020 NFL season with two road games based on recent information regarding the schedules of the Seattle Sounders FC and the Seattle Mariners.

The NFL will announce the Seahawks’ schedule in April before the draft, but it is very likely the team will play an away game in Week 1. The Sounders play at CenturyLink Field on September 13 and the Mariners have a home game the following day, eliminating the possibility of a Monday night home game.

The Mariners and Sounders also have home games the following week, so the Seahawks will not get a home game that weekend unless it is featured as the “Monday Night Football” matchup.

Hat tip to Field Gulls for piecing things together.

The main takeaway is this, with the soccer and baseball games already on the books, Seahawks fans should not expect too many home games early in the 2020 season.
