The 49ers cut undrafted linebacker Mariano Sori-Marin loose from their 90-man roster.

NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco on Thursday reported Sori-Marin cleared waivers following his release with an injury waiver. It’s not clear what the injury was or when he sustained it.

Sori-Marin was the lone undrafted linebacker to be signed by the 49ers. He played for five years at the University of Minnesota and racked up 274 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and one interception.

He had a tall mountain to climb to a roster spot and the reps weren’t likely to be plentiful in a crowded LB room where a significant shakeup could be taking place for the 49ers.

They haven’t filled their open roster spot yet, so for now their roster sits at 89, one shy of the 90-player maximum.

Top three NFL draft-eligible inside linebackers in the Big Ten for 2022

Top three NFL draft-eligible inside linebackers in the Big Ten for 2022 #GoBucks #B1G

It is never too early to talk about the NFL Draft, and one of the most polarizing and fun positions to discuss is the inside linebacker position. It is no secret that Ohio State does not have the strongest linebacking group, but there is still some high-end talent in the Big Ten.

It should not be surprising to see an Iowa linebacker on this list as they have an extremely rich history of stud linebackers like Christian Kirksey, Pat Angerer, and Abdul Hodge. We also see an appearance from a Nebraska linebacker and Minnesota, but enough of talking about the list, let’s dive in.
