Versatile offensive linemen Packers could target in 2025 NFL Draft

The Packers love versatile offensive linemen. Who could Brian Gutekunst target in the 2025 draft?

The Green Bay Packers selected three offensive linemen during the 2024 NFL Draft, a year after taking none during the 2023 draft. Since taking over as general manager in 2018, Brian Gutekunst has drafted 14 offensive linemen and has selected at least one in every draft except for the 2023 class.

Gutekunst’s draft history suggests that he’ll draft at least one offensive lineman in the 2025 draft and it’s a safe bet the prospect will offer position versatility.

Here are some potential targets in the 2025 draft class:

Xavier Truss, OL, Georgia

Georgia’s starting right tackle has started games at left tackle and both guard spots during his time in Athens. Truss has logged 1,022 snaps at right tackle, 854 at left guard, 334 at right guard and 204 snaps at left tackle. Truss paves the way as a run blocker and has good range.

Grey Zabel, OL, North Dakota State University

Zabel has started 11 games at left tackle for the Bison this season. Prior to this season, the South Dakota native started 17 games at right tackle, four at left guard and three at right guard. Zabel is agile out in space and hits his landmarks. Zabel has taken snaps at all five positions along the offensive line during his time in Fargo and he could showcase his skill set at all five positions during Senior Bowl week.

Jonah Monheim, OL, USC

Monheim has started 10 games at center for the Trojans this season. Before kicking inside, Monheim started 18 games at right tackle, 12 at left tackle, and four at right guard. Monheim has heightened awareness in protection. According to Pro Football Focus, Monheim has given up zero sacks this season.

Marcus Wehr, OL, Montana State

Wehr started his collegiate career at Bozeman as a defensive lineman before making the switch to the offensive line in 2022. During his first season on the offensive side of the ball, Wehr started seven games at left tackle. The following season he started 11 games at right tackle and one game at right guard. This season he’s started all 11 games at right guard. Since making the move to the offensive line in 2022, Wehr has given up zero sacks and just eight pressures.

Easton Kilty, OL, Kansas State

A North Dakota transfer, Kilty has started 10 games at left tackle during his first season at Kansas State. During his time at North Dakota, Kilty started games at left tackle, right guard and right tackle. Kilty is quick-footed and has given up one sack and five pressures this season.

Marcus Mbow, OL, Purdue

Mbow has 16 starts at right tackle and 14 at right guard under his belt. The Purdue product has quick feet and the lateral quickness to protect the corner. With his athleticism, Mbow has good range as a run blocker.

Connor Colby, OL, Iowa

Colby has started 23 straight games at right guard for the Hawkeyes. Before that stretch, Colby started seven games at left guard, six at right tackle and 11 at right guard. With 45 career starts under his belt, Colby is one of the most seasoned offensive linemen in the 2025 draft class. Colby is agile in space and rarely misses his marks.

Joshua Gray, OL, Oregon State

Gray is Oregon State’s all-time leader in starts (54). Gray started 44 games at left tackle before kicking inside to left guard this season. Gray plays with good knee bend and has a well-put-together frame.

Seahawks address offensive line in latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft

Seahawks address offensive line in latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft

The struggling offensive line is the biggest weakness for the 4-5 Seattle Seahawks. The offense has forfeited a sixth-worst 28 sacks heading into the Week 10 bye. Starting quarterback Geno Smith has been pressured on 153 of his dropbacks, according to Pro Football Focus.

The right side of the offensive line has particularly been an issue. Right guard Anthony Bradford has allowed 24 pressures, second-most among 113 qualifying guards. Bradford has also been whistled for a position-high nine penalties, and he’s allowed five sacks, ranking 110th out of 113. Yet rookie blocker Christian Haynes hasn’t been successful in dethroning him for a starting role.

Right tackle has been equally as questionable. With preferred starter Abe Lucas still on the Physically Unable To Perform (PUP) list, the Seahawks have played three different players there, due to additional injuries and underperformance. George Fant and Stone Forsythe have been particularly disappointing, thrusting Day Three rookie Mike Jerrell into action.

It’s no surprise that an NFL Mock Draft would have the Seahawks selecting an offensive lineman. The Draft Network’s Daniel Harms recently dropped his iteration. He has GM John Schneider selecting Purdue offensive tackle Marcus Mbow with the No. 13 overall selection.

“Watching the offensive line in Seattle is a tough task, and if they want to bring in a young quarterback at any point, addressing the offensive line is top of the list,” Harms wrote. “Marcus Mbow is one of the best tackles most don’t know about and he could complete Seattle’s bookends with some of the best hand usage out there.”

The Seahawks could certainly use reinforcements on the offensive line ahead of the 2025 campaign. Whether Mbow plays tackle or guard at the next level remains to be determined, but he’s an underrated prospect. Depending on Lucas’ outlook, Seattle could utilize instant contributors at both positions.

Chiefs scouting report: Purdue Boilermakers OT Marcus Mbow

The Kansas City #Chiefs should consider selecting Purdue #Boilermakers offensive tackle Marcus Mbow in the 2025 NFL draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs found a gem when they selected Trey Smith in the sixth round in 2021. Smith is one of the league’s best run-blocking guards, but he will enter free agency in 2025. His next contract’s average annual salary could price him out of Kansas City’s range and send the Chiefs back to the draft.

Purdue offensive lineman Marcus Mbow plays right tackle for the Boilermakers but projects best as a guard at the next level because he lacks the length and weight of a traditional offensive tackle. He suffered a significant season-ending leg injury in 2023 but is performing at a high level this year.

Mbow is an explosive athlete who quickly gets out of the blocks at the snap. His range in pass protection allows him to drive rushers up and around the pocket. Mbow possesses a surprisingly sturdy anchor for his build. He wears down power rushers gradually until the defender’s leg drive stalls.

Mbow posted elite tape against Oregon earlier this season. He attacked the Ducks with his polished, combative hands. Few offensive linemen in the 2025 class use as many counters and snatch-traps as Mbow. Even Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon ended up on the turf when facing Mbow.

Mbow’s movement skills and ferocity translate to the run game. He is one of the quickest linemen in space in the past few draft cycles. Mbow hunts down linebackers and introduces them to his mauler mentality.  He plays through the whistle with elite effort.

The Boilermakers play their next game at home against Northwestern on November 2 at 11 a.m CST. Wildcats star pass rusher Anto Saka is a notorious big game hunter who embarrassed eventual 2024 NFL draft picks Graham Barton and Caedan Wallace last season. The matchup between Mbow and Saka will be must-see TV.

2021 three-star OT schedules Michigan visit

While he doesn’t appear to yet have an offer from the Wolverines, the three-star OT from Wisconsin has set a visit to Ann Arbor.

[jwplayer qWF79Jp3-XNcErKyb]

There’s just over a week left in the February recruiting dead period, but the moment that’s over, Michigan will look to take advantage, hosting visitors once again.

One such prospect made it known on Friday that he’ll be making his way to Ann Arbor the first moment that it’s once again allowed to be on campus.

2021 Milwaukee (WI) Wauwatosa East three-star offensive tackle Marcus Mbow seems to be heavily favoring Iowa at the moment, and does not appear to yet have a Michigan offer. That could perhaps change with a successful visit, as he announced on Twitter that he’ll be taking in Ann Arbor on March 1.

Naturally, he posted a picture of Ben Bredeson, the four-year starter who originally hailed from Hartland, Wisconsin. Mbow has also retweeted videos of Bredeson’s ability as showcased by scouting-type accounts, further revealing Michigan’s increased visibility to linemen in the Badger state.

Mbow currently has 8 reported offers, and rated 715th overall by the 247Sports Composite. He’s also the 68th-rated offensive tackle and No. 6 player in the state of Wisconsin.
