Report: Texans to interview Bills director of pro personnel Malik Boyd for GM opening

The Houston Texans will interview Buffalo Bills director of pro personnel Malik Boyd for their general manager opening according to a report.

The Houston Texans continue to make headway with their general manager search.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans are scheduled to interview Buffalo Bills director of pro personnel Malik Boyd.

Boyd, who played defensive back for the Minnesota Vikings from 1994-95, has been with the Bills since 2017 in his director of pro personnel role. It is hard to argue with the results as the Bills have qualified for the playoffs in three of the past four seasons, and drafted their presumptive franchise quarterback in Josh Allen in 2018.

Before joining the Bills, Boyd was with the Arizona Cardinals for 12 seasons. From 2005-15, Boyd was a scout. In 2016, the former Southern product was the assistant director of pro scouting.

Boyd is a Smiley High School graduate and a Houston native. At 50 years old, he grew up during the heyday of the “Luv Ya Blue” Houston Oilers and has an appreciation for what a contending NFL team means to the city of Houston.

The Texans previously hired from inside the Bills’ front office in January 2018 when they selected Brian Gaine as their general manager. However, Gaine had been with Houston from 2014-16 as the director of player personnel before going to Buffalo for a one-season stint as vice president of player personnel.
