Magic at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 119, Magic 102

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on the Thunder (-750) to remain undefeated Monday.

Against the spread

BET THUNDER -12.5 (-105).

Orlando has failed to cover in 5 straight games overall, including 4 road games and 2 as an underdog. Orlando has looked lost and has not won a game since Banchero went down with an oblique injury.

Oklahoma City has covered in 5 of its 6 games this season and won all 6 by 12 or more points.

Over/Under

BET OVER 215.5 (-110).

The Magic have hit the Over in 5 of their 7 games this season while allowing 115 or more points in 3 of their last 5.

The Thunder have hit the Over in 2 of their last 4 games while scoring 114 or more points in 3 of their last 5. Oklahoma City will need to carry the load in this matchup, which it is more than equipped to do.

Orlando Magic at Oklahoma City Thunder odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Orlando Magic at Oklahoma City Thunder odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (1-6) take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (3-3) Tuesday at Paycom Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Thunder odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Magic lost 114-105 at the Dallas Mavericks Sunday, pushing as 9-point underdogs. Rookie F Paolo Banchero has been a bright spot to begin the season with 22.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 blocks per game in 7 appearances.

The Thunder have strung together 3 straight wins, including 2 wins over the Los Angeles Clippers last Tuesday and Thursday and at the Mavericks Saturday as 10.5-point underdogs (117-111). G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to show why he’s considered a building block for a rebuilding Oklahoma City team as he’s averaging 31.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per game on 49.6% shooting from the field across his first 5 games.

Magic at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 114, Magic 106

Moneyline

Go ahead and PASS on the moneyline in this game despite Oklahoma City (-150) being the slight favorites at home. I tend to avoid taking standalone bets at odds higher than -150 and I certainly don’t want to make an exception for a team like the Thunder.

Against the spread

The THUNDER -3.5 (-115) appears to be the ideal wager in this game between 2 rebuilding teams. Oklahoma City has won 3 straight contests but at any moment they could decide they need to inch closer to putting themselves in a position to take C Victor Wembanyama in next year’s draft.

That being said, the Thunder are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and the Magic are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 meetings against the Thunder.

Over/Under

These teams haven’t been known for playing much defense in recent years and despite what the numbers say right now, I’ll take OVER 217.5 (-105) in Tuesday’s contest. The Thunder play at the 10th-fastest pace while the Magic play at the 6th-slowest pace in the NBA this season.

The Over is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between the Magic and the Thunder in Oklahoma City.

Orlando Magic at Oklahoma City Thunder odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Orlando Magic at Oklahoma City Thunder odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (20-53) visit Paycom Center Wednesday to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (20-52). Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Thunder odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Magic are on a 2-game win streak, coming off a home win over the Warriors as 7.5-point home underdogs.

Orlando is 34-39 against the spread (ATS) this season, but just 10-27 on the road. The Magic are led by G Cole Anthony, who averages 16.9 points and 5.7 assists per game.

Oklahoma City is among the best covering teams in the league at 43-25-4 ATS. They have covered 5 of their last 6 and 4 straight.

However, the Thunder are currently on a 10-game losing streak, having covered 6 of those games. OKC is led by G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who averages 24.5 points per game. He’s listed as questionable.

Magic at Thunder odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 110, Magic 106

Money line

BET the THUNDER +105.

With a spread at just 1.5, it’s basically a pick ’em, and assuming SGA takes the court, I’ll side with the home team.

Again, given his importance to the offense, wait until SGA’s availability is announced. He did play against Boston on Monday though, so there should be hope that’s more so on the probable side.

Orlando is just 6-9 ATS with no rest and just 1-12 straight up. It won Tuesday night 94-90 against the Warriors in Orlando.

Both teams are among the worst in the league at shooting the ball. However, the Thunder go from 41.8% on the road to 43.4% shooting at home while the Magic are worse on the road.

Considering OKC is 42-24-4 as an underdog and the money line provides plus-money value as compared to the 1.5-point spread, I’ll take the home side as their shooting and SGA’s craftiness should help them come out on top.

Against the spread

PASS.

Plus-money value over a 1.5-point spread is how I would suggest playing this.

Over/Under

LEAN to the UNDER 220.5 (-110).

Orlando nor its opponent have reached even 95 points in its last 2 games. The Magic and Thunder rank 29th and 30th in points per game respectively while they are 20th and 15th in opponents points per game.

Also, neither is over .500 on the total this season with Orlando at 36-36-1 O/U and the Thunder at 34-36-2 O/U. Considering the strengths of the teams and their lacking shooting, I’ll take the Under.

Magic at Thunder: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Magic 111, Thunder 102

Money line (ML)

PASS. The Magic (-200) are the right side in this one (more on that in a second), but I am not laying double my potential return for an outright win in any NBA regular-season game.

Against the spread (ATS)

Raise your hand if you said that the Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic would be the remaining undefeated Eastern Conference teams after three games. No one, right?

The Magic are 3-0 after a surprising 113-107 victory against Southeastern Division rivals Miami Heat on opening night and winning back-to-back games over another divisional foe in the Washington Wizards this past weekend.

Oklahoma City was on the good side of a single-possession game with a 109-107 win at the Charlotte Hornets Saturday but lost at the Utah Jazz 110-109 Monday in a game they were leading by double-digits at one point.

The Thunder probably had the most roster turnover this offseason as three of their leading scores from last season’s team (Dennis Schroder, Chris Paul and Danilo Gallinari) and Steven Adams are no longer with the team. That puts a lot on the young shoulders of PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and SF Luguentz Dort.

As far as Magic-Thunder is concerned, OKC’s trade of Adams to the New Orleans Pelicans is the biggest factor. The Thunder did bring in veteran big C Al Horford, but his prime is behind him at this point. The only previous All-Star on Orlando’s roster is C Nikola Vučević. While he’s only fourth on the team in points per game, head coach Steve Clifford has no problem featuring Vucevic in the offense if he’s got a glaring mismatch.

Furthermore, the Magic have made the playoffs in back-to-back years and Vučević led the team in both points per game and win shares in both seasons. Expect Orlando to get a bunch of points in the paint and bet MAGIC -4.5 (-120) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Since the Magic have been a slower-paced, defensive-oriented team for several seasons now, I’ll “lean” UNDER 218.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit. The total has already been bet down from the 219.5-opening line, but the logic is overly simple for me not to like this play. It’s a low total and we are seeing the maturation of PG Markelle Fultz and 62-plus percent effective field-goal percentage from both G’s Terrence Ross and Evan Fournier.
