In a delight to Philadelphia Eagles fans and a shock to the Netflix awards publicity team, actor and filmmaker Bradley Cooper has offered the football gods a sacrifice for a Philly Super Bowl win.
While speaking with Howard Stern, Cooper said very confidently that he’d rather the Eagles win the big game than his film Maestro winning three Oscars for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress for Carey Mulligan at next year’s ceremony.
Oh yes, Cooper would absolutely forgo winning two Academy Awards individually to watch his favorite NFL team hoist the Lombardi in February.
If this isn’t dedicated fandom, we’re really not sure what is.

While Cooper’s Leonard Bernstein biopic plays in select theaters right now and should haul in a respectable number of Oscar nomination this winter, his Eagles are 10-1 and are in the driver’s seat for the top seed in the NFC.
Maestro has more serious competition right now in the Oscar race than Philadelphia does in in the Super Bowl hunt, so maybe that’s swaying Cooper a bit to be okay with his sophomore feature not doing as well awards-wise.
At the least, Cooper should amend his idea for Mulligan to be eligible to win Best Actress, even if he gives up his own trophies for the ultimate NFL trophy. She’s not a part of this wager!
