Tariq Woolen has just one request for the makers of ‘Madden’

Madden hasn’t been cool since Richard Sherman was on the cover.

[anyclip pubname=”2103″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8036″]

Madden hasn’t been cool since Richard Sherman was on the cover and they stopped truly upgrading the game engine a long time ago. Nevertheless, people still buy the game every year and even some players remain fans. Yesterday, Bills quarterback Josh Allen was revealed as this year’s Madden cover athlete, so the newest version of the game is all the talk on Twitter.

Second-year Seahawks cornerback Tariq Woolen has just one request for the developers at EA Sports, which he shared on Twitter last night.

This is a familiar song we’ve heard from other players before.

For one, Seattle’s star free safety Quandre Diggs has made an annual habit of blasting Madden for the way his player looks in the game. Perhaps nobody has a better case to complain than 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, who was briefly represented by a black man in one version.

In any case, the player ratings for last year’s game were released in mid-July, so we should expect a similiar time-frame for Madden 24. The game itself is scheduled to be released on August 18.

Iconic play by Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes to be featured in ‘Madden NFL 24’

#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is getting an animation in “Madden NFL 24” that’s a callback to one of his iconic plays in Super Bowl LV.

[connatix div_id=”3f8b015acdd24c648befc5d5dac47469″ player_id=”afe1e038-d3c2-49c0-922d-6511a229f69c” cid=”7cbcea0d-4ce2-4c75-9a8d-fbe02a192c24″]

EA Sports officially released a trailer for the upcoming installment of their Madden NFL video game franchise and within the reveal had an exciting surprise for Kansas City Chiefs fans.

Chiefs Kingdom often jokes that Patrick Mahomes has incomplete passes that are better than some completed passes by other quarterbacks. It was undoubtedly true regarding one of his most iconic plays in the team’s Super Bowl LV loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The play was so good that it made the NFL’s Top 100 Plays of 2020 — an incomplete pass — and now it’s coming to “Madden NFL 24” as what is speculated to be a unique player animation.

If you don’t recall the specific play and moment, here’s a brief rundown:

Mahomes was playing behind a patchwork offensive line and was running for his life all game, reversing field and trying to buy time to make any throw possible. It was fourth down and little was going right for the Chiefs. Flushed from the pocket and tripped up by Bucs DE William Gholston, Mahomes made a diving passing attempt that hit RB Darrel Williams in the facemask in the endzone.

Bucs players we’re calling Mahomes a magician on the sideline after the attempt. Here’s what the star QB had to say about it:

“Yeah, definitely a pass you only attempt on fourth down. I was scrambling out and I was trying to get past that last guy on that edge there because I knew that if I got past, it would buy enough time that hopefully somebody could get open. Obviously, he kind of clipped me and it kind of tripped up my feet and I wasn’t going to go down without giving somebody a chance. I saw a red jersey, I didn’t know it was Darrel (Williams), I just saw a red jersey and I knew I had to find a way to throw it and give him a chance to catch the ball, so I just put it up there. Obviously, came up short but I mean he battled for the ball and just like the whole game, we didn’t make the plays, but guys battled until the very end.”

Well, it seems like Mahomes will get some opportunities to complete that pass again, just this time it’ll be happening in a video game.

Madden NFL cover: Which position has appeared the most?

Here is a look at the breakdown of Madden NFL cover athletes by position.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is getting the recognition he deserves as the next cover athlete for the “Madden NFL 24” video game.

The 2023 version marks a return to using NFL players after Electronic Arts went with the Hall of Fame coach, broadcaster, and game namesake John Madden to grace the game’s cover last year, the first game since his Dec. 2021 passing.

Madden was on the cover for the first 10 console game covers from 1990-99. Players trickled into the background and finally took over in 2000 with Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George for the “Madden NFL 2001” cover.

Here is a look at the breakdown of Madden cover athletes by position. To simplify, the list will include athletes who are in the foreground (sorry, Cary Brabham and Gordon Laro) and on a console.

Does Bengals QB Joe Burrow have a shot at Madden 24 cover?

Is Joe Burrow in the running for the Madden 24 cover reveal this week?

[connatix div_id=”3f8b015acdd24c648befc5d5dac47469″ player_id=”afe1e038-d3c2-49c0-922d-6511a229f69c” cid=”7cbcea0d-4ce2-4c75-9a8d-fbe02a192c24″]

Is this the year a Cincinnati Bengals player appears on the cover of EA Sports’ Madden franchise?

The latest rendition is “Madden 24,” and the official reveal on the cover star will arrive on Wednesday, as explained in a quick, helpful video from Rob Gronkowski.

A wide range of stars such as Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen could grace the cover this year. But it’s hard not to wonder if Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase weren’t in the running, too.

If it isn’t a Bengals player, maybe we’ll find out after the fact that they were at least in the conversations. Given the team’s winning ways and the high-profile nature of stars like Burrow, it feels like a more realistic chance in the next few years than at any other point over the last decade.

Tyreek Hill continues to roast Jaylen Waddle about Madden record

Hill says he’s undefeated.

On the field, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle complement each other perfectly.

In their first season together, the pair combined for 194 receptions, 3,066 yards and 15 touchdowns despite starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missing multiple games due to concussions.

Off the field, they’re great friends, but like any friendship, there’s a lot of razzing that goes on. This current roster has been known to make fun of each other on social media with some regularity.

One topic that’s been brought up quite a bit is the Madden battles between Hill and Waddle. According to Hill, he’s never lost to his younger teammate.

At his camp this weekend, Hill was asked by a camper if he’s really never lost to Waddle, and the All-Pro confirmed that he’s undefeated against him with a 5-0 record.

Hill is always joking around, so you never know if this is really true, but it’s clear that Miami’s locker room is filled with personalities that are just having fun with each other both on and off of the field.

Tom Brady retired from a stellar career in the NFL – and video games

NFL superstar Tom Brady has retired after an illustrious career spanning 23 seasons and some high-profile appearances in EA’s Madden NFL

NFL superstar Tom Brady has retired after an illustrious professional career spanning 23 seasons, leaving behind a legacy as what some call the best quarterback in the sport’s history – and some high-profile appearances in EA’s Madden NFL sports game franchise as well.

Brady’s career began in the mid-1990s, when he played in the NCAA on the Michigan Wolverines. He turned up in NCAA Football 99, released in August 1998, as number 32 on the Wolverines, though you can only recognize him by that number.

Like in NFL Blitz and its other competitors at the time, NCAA Football 99 was hardly the most graphically advanced game, and one player looked pretty much identical to the next.

In 2000, a year after graduating from Michigan, Brady joined the New England Patriots, where he remained until 2020. NCAA 99-style fame wasn’t immediately forthcoming, though. When the Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase said missing out on Madden 23’s top 10 ratings was motivation to try harder, Brady said he shouldn’t worry. He didn’t even show up on the Madden Patriots’ roster until his second year.

Madden only referred to him as “QB No. 12” and gave him a rather abysmal rating for two years running – 57 in 2000 and 51 in 2001 (thanks, MaddenRatings). It rose to 84 in 2002 and remained in the 90s for the rest of his career. In 2011, Brady earned a 99, the highest rating Madden awards players. He earned a 99 rating two more times – in 2017 and 2018 – and had a rating over 95 13 times in total.

Brady also appeared on the cover of Madden 18 and then again on the cover of Madden 21, alongside Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Madden 23 update features Jaylen Waddle’s famous TDcelebration

New Madden updates features Jaylen Waddle’s signature celebration

The Miami Dolphins have become one of the most fun teams to watch in the NFL, and for good reason. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is playing at an MVP level, Mike McDaniel may be the best hire of the off-season and the speedy combination of [autotag]Jaylen Waddle[/autotag] and Tyreek Hill is can’t miss TV.

To the surprise of many, the Dolphins stand alone at the top of the AFC East. The East is loaded this year as the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and New York Jets all have winning records.

Tua’s emergence as a franchise quarterback can not be understated, but, it’s even more special that he has been able to do it with former Alabama Crimson Tide teammate Waddle.

Through ten games this year, Waddle has been outstanding. On the year he has 51 catches for 878 yards (17.2 YPC) and six touchdowns. In fact, Waddle has become so familiar with the end zone he has made his own signature celebration – the penguin waddle.

The celebration has become so popular that it is now available in the most recent Madden 23 update that came out today. It is so awesome to see Tua and Jaylen thriving at the highest level.

Jaylen Waddle’s ‘Waddle’ celebration added to Madden 23

You can now Waddle on your opponents.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has been putting on a show since entering the league as a first-round pick in 2021.

He set the league’s record for receptions as a rookie last season (104), and this season, he’s on pace for 87 catches, 1,483 yards and 10 touchdowns. And, every time Waddle finds the end zone, he’s celebrating with his touchdown dance that symbolizes his last name.

Now, that celebration is coming digital, as EA Sports announced that “The Waddle” is being added to Madden NFL 23 in their newest update.

Having Waddle perform the dance and other players around him, like Terron Armstead and Robert Hunt in this video, do it as well is extremely cool.
