LEAK: Broncos’ best players in ‘Madden NFL 21’

Here are the Broncos’ best players in ‘Madden NFL 21.’

EA Sports is rolling out ratings for Madden NFL 21 this week and a website called “Madden School” has leaked some ratings ahead of schedule. These rumored ratings have not been confirmed so take them with a grain of salt.

For the Denver Broncos, star outside linebacker Von Miller is still the team’s highest-rated player at 97 overall. Miller is no longer a member of the “99 Club” but he is still one of the best pass rushers in the video game.

Broncos safety Justin Simmons is the team’s second-best player, rated 90 overall. Fellow safety Kareem Jackson is rated 87 overall.

Here’s a look at the team’s top-10 players in Madden 21, courtesy of Madden School:

  • Von Miller: 97
  • Justin Simmons: 90
  • Kareem Jackon: 87
  • Phillip Lindsay: 85
  • Melvin Gordon III: 84
  • Jurrell Casey: 84
  • A.J. Bouye: 84
  • Courtland Sutton: 84
  • Bradley Chubb: 81
  • Bryce Callahan: 80

It’s interesting that running back Phillip Lindsay is rated higher than Melvin Gordon, who is expected to start this season. Gordon was clearly not happy with his rating in Madden. Last year, Gordon was one of the top running backs in the game — now he’s not even the top RB on his own team.

Complete Madden NFL 21 ratings will be revealed later this week.

Chargers RB Joshua Kelley’s initial ‘Madden 21’ rating revealed

Chargers running back Joshua Kelley is a bit lower than anticipated.

Ratings continue to be unveiled for the highly anticipated video game, EA Sports’ “Madden NFL 21.”

Last week, quarterback Justin Herbert and wide receivers K.J. Hill and Joe Reed had theirs revealed. On Tuesday, the rookie running back’s ratings were unfolded.

The Chargers selected former UCLA RB Joshua Kelley in the fourth-round of this year’s draft.

Kelley was given a 67 overall rating.

Here’s a look at other significant ratings for Kelley:

  • Speed – 89
  • Acceleration – 87
  • Strength – 75
  • Agility – 84
  • Awareness – 69
  • Catching – 64
  • Carrying – 88

Kelley joins an ascending backfield that consists of Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson.

Kelley has been seen as strictly a short-yardage specialist by many, but I believe he’s going to be used more than that.

Kelley showed that he is capable of taking on a big load for UCLA in 2018 and 2019, receiving 225 and 229 touches, respectively. However, he made the most with them, posting 1,000-plus rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns in both seasons.

For someone that has that type of production and was taken that high over other positions of need like offensive tackle, wide receiver and cornerback, they’re certainly seen as more than just a bruiser.

I expect the Chargers to roll with a committee approach for their backfield early on in the season, but for Kelley to receive the bulk of the carries as the season goes on, especially if Jackson is unable to stay healthy.

Check out Rams rookie Cam Akers’ ratings in ‘Madden NFL 21’

Cam Akers is the fourth-best rookie RB in the game.

Cam Akers was the Rams’ top draft pick this year, being selected at No. 52 overall. The former Florida State running back was one the few players Los Angeles really coveted with its first pick in the draft, according to GM Les Snead, so he figures to be a key player in 2020.

Rams fans who play “Madden” will be using him a lot in this year’s game, too, though he won’t be as good as Todd Gurley was last year out of the gate. EA Sports continues to release player ratings in “Madden NFL 21” and the latest group to be revealed was the rookie running backs.

Akers is a 73 overall, which is fourth-best among all rookie running backs. J.K. Dobbins of the Ravens is a 75 overall, followed by Clyde Edwards-Helaire and D’Andre Swift at 74 overall.

Here’s a look at some of Akers’ key ratings in the game, led by an impressive 90 speed and the best acceleration rating at the position (94). It’s also worth noting that he has a 56 throw power rating and accuracy ratings that range from 47-51, which are among the highest for all rookie running backs.

As a former high school quarterback, Akers’ throwing ability could be used on trick plays this year – both for the Rams and in the video game.

Akers was a highly productive running back at Florida State, rushing for at least 1,000 yards in two of his three seasons despite playing behind a terrible offensive line. He scored 27 touchdowns on the ground and averaged 4.9 yards per carry in his career, proving to be the only consistent player on FSU’s offense.

While he should get plenty of opportunities, he’ll still have to beat out Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown for snaps in the backfield. Having no on-field work yet to date won’t help, but Akers should be in the mix early for the Rams.

‘Madden’ reveals ratings for Broncos WRs Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler

See where Broncos wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler rank among the rookie WRs in Madden 21.

EA Sports announced the ratings for the top rookie wide receivers in Madden NFL 21 on Friday. Denver Broncos first-round pick Jerry Jeudy is rated 75 overall, making him the second-best rookie WR in the video game.

Las Vegas Raiders speedster Henry Ruggs (76) is the highest-rated rookie WR, followed by Jeudy (75) and Dallas Cowboys rookie CeeDee Lamb (75). Here’s a look at the top five rookie WRs in the game, courtesy of EA Sports:

(EA Sports)

KJ Hamler, the Broncos’ second-round draft pick, is rated 70 overall. Hamler has an impressive speed rating of 94, making him the second-fastest rookie wide receiver in the game. Hamler also has high acceleration (95) and agility (93) ratings.

Madden NFL 21 will be released for Xbox and PlayStation consoles on Tuesday, Aug. 25. Complete ratings will be revealed next week.

Check out Washington’s rookie WR Antonio Gandy-Golden’s Madden ratings

Gandy-Golden had his Madden ratings released, which have him in the mid-to-upper 80s for most relevant categories despite 69 overall rating.

While it means very little for real life and production on the field, players and fans alike have a lot of fun with the EA Sports Madden ratings that come out each season.

This year, with a new crop of rookies added to the league, and an unusual downtime for the sports world at large, the ratings are being released by ESPN starting on July 13th. However, a few rookie ratings have already been revealed in sparring fashion. For Washington, WR Antonio Gandy-Golden is the only rookie to have his numbers released just yet. Here is how they stand.

  • Overall: 69
  • Speed: 86
  • Acceleration: 88
  • Strength: 70
  • Agility: 80
  • Awareness: 66
  • Catching: 82
  • Carrying: 77

Not too bad for a fourth-rounder, but I’m sure there are a number of things that AGG would argue should be higher. The rookie will definitely have a chance to boost those numbers in the 2020 season.

Check out Rams rookie Van Jefferson’s ‘Madden 21’ ratings

See how Van Jefferson stacks up against the other rookie receivers in Madden 21.

The Rams didn’t waste any time filling the void left by the departure of Brandin Cooks via trade, selecting Van Jefferson out of Florida in the 2020 NFL Draft. He was their second pick in the draft, going off the board at No. 57 overall.

On Friday, EA Sports released the ratings for rookie receivers in “Madden NFL 21” and Jefferson was surprisingly low compared to his fellow first-year wideouts. Here are some of Jefferson’s key ratings in the upcoming game.

  • Overall: 70
  • Speed: 90
  • Acceleration: 92
  • Strength: 59
  • Agility: 82
  • Awareness: 68
  • Catching: 82
  • Jumping: 85
  • Spectacular catch: 81
  • Catch in traffic: 78
  • Short route running: 77
  • Medium route running: 75
  • Deep route running: 76

While route-running ratings in the mid-70s may not seem great, he has some of the best numbers in that category compared to other rookie receivers. He’s fifth in short route running, and sixth in both medium and deep route running.

He’s plenty fast enough with a 90 speed rating, but that’s tied for 15th among rookie receivers, so this is a fast class of wideouts.

Henry Ruggs III is the best (and fastest) rookie receiver at 76 overall, followed by Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb at 75 overall.

B/R creates all-time best Broncos team using ‘Madden’ ratings

Using Madden ratings, Bleacher Report created an all-time best roster for the Broncos.

Each year, EA Sports releases a new Madden NFL video game. Every player in the game receives a rating, which leads to much fanfare and debate.

Last year, Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller was removed from the perfect “99 overall” club and long snapper Casey Kreiter was among the lowest-rated players in the game. Not cool!

Ratings for this year’s Madden will be announced later this summer.

While fans wait for the new ratings to come out, Bleacher Report put together a list of the all-time best rosters for each NFL team, using Madden ratings to determine the squads.

Among Denver’s highest-rated offensive players are quarterback John Elway (98 overall), running back Terrell Davis (92), tight end Shannon Sharpe (97), center Tom Nalen (96) and left tackle Ryan Clady (91).

On defense, the Broncos’ highest-rated players are defensive end Elvis Dumervil (90), linebacker Tom Jackson (91), outside linebacker Von Miller (97), cornerback Champ Bailey (97), cornerback Chris Harris (91) and safety Steve Atwater (90).

Matt Prater (86) is Denver’s highest-rated kicker and Tom Rouen (80) is the team’s highest-rated punter. To view all of the Broncos’ all-time best Madden players, check out Bleacher Report’s complete list here.
