The Kansas City Chiefs have wrapped their first week of OTAs as part of Phase 3 of the team’s off-season workout program. During his downtime, starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes has made it no secret that he is a loyal supporter of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.

During Friday night’s Mavericks game, their All-Star Luka Dončić hit the game-winning three-point shot, silencing the home team, Minnesota Timberwolves. The thrilling finish to game two of the Western Conference Finals gave the Mavericks a 2-0 lead in the series, and the excitement wasn’t lost on Mahomes, who was tuned into the action. The two-time league MVP’s wife Brittany shared on her Instagram stories an excited Mahomes watching from home.

After three championship rings and many big game moments, the reigning Super Bowl MVP is still a fan of impressive plays in sports. Dončić finished the game with another playoff triple-double of 32 points, ten rebounds, and thirteen assists. Mahomes is a constant fixture courtside at big Mavericks games, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him again, as games three and four are scheduled in Dallas.

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes were on the move again this past weekend. After their appearance on Saturday, opening day at the brand-new CPKC Stadium, home of their NWSL franchise, Kansas City Current, the couple attended Sunday’s Dallas Mavericks vs. Denver Nuggets game.

The nationally televised NBA matchup had the world tuning in to see the Mahomes family walk in and sit courtside to take in the showcased matchup. Patrick is a well-noted fan of the Mavericks, who represent his hometown, so he’s made several appearances in the past, but this game had a unique finish no one could predict.

Dallas star Kyrie Irving converted a remarkable shot with his non-dominant left hand at the buzzer to seal the victory over the Nuggets. The improbable make sent the arena into a frenzy as the hometown team left the court. On the way to the locker room, Irving was greeted by Mahomes as the two exchanged handshakes.

“Greatness, Dawg, Greatness,” said Mahomes, who was also active on his social media account reposting the game-winning highlight shot.

The old saying of real recognizes real was in full effect as the two superstars of their respective sports embraced each other. The Mahomes family is enjoying their offseason and sharing it with the world as Patrick made sure to leave Mavericks All-Star guard Luka Dončić with a signed Chiefs jersey.

The Kansas City Chiefs players and staff get a week away from football before gearing up for the regular season’s stretch run. The Week 10 bye has opened up some opportunities for players to appear at different events and show their support in things other than the gridiron.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has never been mum about his support for teams in other sports. He has shown a solid loyalty to his home state of Texas, with his favorite Major League Baseball squad, the Rangers, winning the World Series last week. The reigning NFL Most Valuable Player was courtside with his wife Brittany at Wednesday’s Dallas Mavericks game.

Mahomes is no stranger to the Mavericks, as he has been in attendance at playoff games in recent seasons. During Wednesday’s visit, the championship couple were gifted signed Luka Dončić jerseys by the Mavericks’ mascot.

The couple’s appearance didn’t bring Dallas luck as they fell to the Toronto Raptors 127-116.
