SEC delays start of fall camp after moving to conference-only schedule

Fall camp looks a bit different for teams like LSU this year.

Shortly after moving to a conference-only schedule, the SEC is delaying the start of fall camp.

SEC teams with games scheduled for Week 1 were supposed to start fall camp this weekend, but due to the new start date of the season being set for Sept. 26, a new offseason training camp schedule will allow teams to start camp on Monday, Aug, 17.

Coaches will have 20 countable hours per week with players, with two off days each week, two days in helmets, two days in shells and one day in full pads.

There will be 14 hours per week allowed for allowed for meetings, walk throughs and strength and conditioning as fall camp nears.

Teams have 40 days for 25 practice — a number increased by 11 days more than previous windows for fall camp. The reason for the widening of the window has to do with coronavirus concerns, because positive test results could cause issues for teams trying to get work in ahead of the season.

LSU football is set to start the season on Sept. 26 in Tiger Stadium with a matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels.
