Where Wisconsin football transfers will call home this upcoming season

Here are where each of the Wisconsin football transfers will be playing next season:

College athletics have changed forever with the implementation of the transfer portal and their ability to change schools one time without having to sit out a season.

All schools have fallen victim to offseason transfer portal attrition, and the University of Wisconsin is no different. Players leave a program for a multitude of reasons, whether that be in search of more playing time or simply to get closer to home.

Thankfully for UW, they’ve largely been able to keep their core pieces intact, while using their available scholarships to pursue immediate impact players to plug holes on the roster.

However, Wisconsin saw several players enter the transfer portal in hopes of finding a new home they deemed to be a better fit.

Here, in no particular order, are where Wisconsin football transfers will call home this upcoming season:

Wisconsin true freshman running back Antwan Roberts has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to a tweet from Badger247 insider Evan Flood.

Roberts entered the program this year as a three-star recruit, the No. 1130 prospect in the class of 2021, No. 81 running back and No. 32 player from his home state of Tennessee.

The news comes after the aftermath of a reported altercation between freshman RB Loyal Crawford and Roberts, one which resulted in Crawford being dismissed from the program and Roberts suspended.

We still do not know many details of what occurred. What is known: neither Crawford nor Roberts will be with the program moving forward.

2021 quarterback commit now a four-star prospect after a 247Sports recruiting rankings update

247Sports updated their recruiting rankings today and in doing so bumped 2021 quarterback recruit Deacon Hill from a three-star prospect to a four-star.

Hill’s fourth star now gives the Badgers six Top247 prospects and seven four-stars in their 2021 class, a class that is lining up to be the best in program history and in the ballpark of top-10 in the nation.

247Sports director of scouting Barton Simmons weighed in on why Hill made such a big jump before even taking the field for his senior season.

“I love the upside with Deacon,” 247sports national director of scouting Barton Simmons explained. “He’s a big dude and he’s not going to run away from anybody, but he’s more athletic than you think in terms of his pocket movements and agility.

“He also looks like he has one of the strongest arms in this class. He can flick the ball downfield effortlessly regardless of conditions or base set-up. I think delivery is getting more and more important in today’s game and he can play with arm angles really effectively. He’s also a first-year starter with really strong athletic pedigree who seems to me to have a really high ceiling.

“There’s just a lot to like to me.”

Other players who received a bump in their rating include three-star defensive end Mike Jarvis and three-star running back Loyal Crawford, both players towards the bottom of the class in terms of each player’s national ranking but also guys on the rise as they prepare for their senior campaigns.

A look at Wisconsin football’s class after the commitment of another 3-star recruit

With this morning’s commitment of 3-star running back Antwan Roberts via Twitterthe Badgers class of 2021 added another solid piece to an already impressive group. Here is a look at how the class shapes up as of today.

According to 247sports, the Badgers currently have the number five ranked 2021 football class in the nation. In terms of Big Ten conference rankings, UW enters in at second, behind only Ohio State.  Wisconsin’s class of 2021 currently features ten commitments, including two high-four star offensive lineman in JP Benzschawel and Riley Malman. Roberts became the third running back in the class, joining Wisconsin natives Jackson Acker and Loyal Crawford.

The Badgers have landed commitments from the top five players in the state of Wisconsin per 247sports rankings.

Wisconsin coaches still have their eyes on a plethora of top targets in the 2021 class. Offensive tackle Nolan Rucci is the five-star brother of current Wisconsin tight end Hayden Rucci, and the Pennsylvania native’s recruiting battle is all but down to the Badgers, Clemson, and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Wisconsin is also in a recruiting battle for four-star WDE TJ Bollers, who recently listed the Badgers in his top-6.

Three-star Santa Barbara (Calif.) quarterback Deacon Pe’a Hill is currently the only committed QB in the class of 2021. The pro-style QB has a massive arm, and recently earned an invite to the 2021 Polynesian Bowl
