Lost Ark surpasses 20 million players globally

Amazon Games and Smilegate’s action MMORPG is a massive success thus far.

The inexplicable success story that is Lost Ark continues as yet another massive milestone is shattered.

On Monday, Amazon Games and Smilegate announced that Lost Ark has seen more than 20 million global users. The monstrously successful western launch alone brought in an additional 4.7 million players in addition to the regions where action MMORPG was already live.

“Overall, the excitement surrounding Lost Ark from around the world is quickly gaining steam, as evidenced by the growing number of global players,” Christoph Hartmann, VP of Amazon Games, said in a press release. “Together with Smilegate, we are committed to supporting the growing community with a robust roadmap of updates in the years to come.”

With that success has come growing pains, though. Server congestion was so bad during release week that login queue memes were all over social media at the time. Amazon Games was quick about getting another slew of servers up for the European region, which seems to have mostly fixed the issues.

It’s always hard to tell when an MMORPG has legs on top of an initial player boom, but Lost Ark already has heaps of content coming from the original Korean version, which western fans will begin seeing soon.

Lost Ark’s March update brings new raid and storyline content

The action MMORPG is still going strong with more patches coming soon.

Lost Ark is still tearing up Steam charts, and more end-game content is rolling out soon.

On Wednesday, Amazon revealed some of what’s coming in Lost Ark’s March update, including the Kadan story episode and Argo’s abyss raid.

“While we launched just a few short weeks ago, fans of Lost Ark know that there is a wealth of content present in the Korean version that has yet to make its way to the western shores of Arkesia,” Amazon said on Lost Ark’s blog. “We’ll be working closely with Smilegate RPG to infuse content into the western version at a steady cadence — starting in March!”

The Kadan story episode will bring new quests, islands, and cinematics for fans to enjoy. However, several conditions must be completed before trying out the Kadan storyline, including Feiton and the following quests:

  • Yorn – Let There Be Light
  • Whispering Islet – Start of Our Story
  • Illusion Bamboo Island – End of the Trials

Amazon also recommends an item level of 1100 for both the Isteri and Illusion Bamboo islands.

Lost Ark’s March update will also add Abyss Raids, another end-game activity that pits eight players against Argos, the first of many Guardian bosses. Argos will have three phases, with each requiring distinct item level requirements for players to participate. Accessing the Argos fight will be possible through Abyss Raid Statues in major cities.

There’s no date set for Lost Ark’s March content update yet. It should be soon though since, you know — it’s already March. Amazon also claims it’ll implement several patches that should help with server congestion issues, especially on the European server regions.

Lost Ark will not have server transfer functionality for now

Character moves to new servers still are not happening.

Suffering from success is becoming one of Lost Ark’s specialties, as is evident by the myriad of login queue issues players are still dealing with more than a week after launch. Many were hoping Amazon would allow proper server transfer options for characters, but that functionality probably will not come anytime soon.

“We definitely hear the request for server transfer functionality and have thoroughly investigated our options,” Amazon said on Lost Ark’s forum. “This instant functionality does not currently exist in Lost Ark. This service just rolled out in Korea and is a weekly batch process that requires maintenance to run. It also does not support cross-region functionality. Therefore, unfortunately, it is not a viable option at this point for the western version— but we will not rest until we’ve exhausted all options.”

The problem for most fans is that moving to a new server means starting fresh and abandoning whatever characters they made before. You could redeem Founders Pack and Starter Pack rewards on another server for a bit, but that’s not a proper solution to the problems.

As the post notes, the Korean version recently implemented server transfers for Lost Ark, but who knows if that option will make it over to the west.

Lost Ark: Starting classes ranked

Not sure which starting class to roll with? We have the answers in our starting class rankings.

Lost Ark has quickly become one of the biggest MMORPGs in the world, breaking records on Steam within a day of the free-to-play version finally launching. Lost Ark is an isometric Korean MMO that looks great, and can certainly keep you engaged for hours.

There are five main classes you can choose from at the start, and each has its own benefits and weaknesses. In this guide we’ve sorted each of the classes from the very best, to the very worst. Once you’ve gotten started, make sure to pick up all those stray Mokoko Seeds in Prideholm with our guides.

Lost Ark: European West region server list

More servers for all.

One week after Lost Ark’s initial launch, Amazon Games and developer Smilegate are opening up the new European server region.

Lost Ark Europe West region server list

According to a post on Lost Ark’s official forums, eight brand-new servers are now live, and Amazon Games will open more should the need arise.

  • Rethramis
  • Tortoyk
  • Moonkeep
  • Stonehearth
  • Shadespire
  • Tragon
  • Petrania
  • Punika

Please note that this is a separate data center from Lost Ark’s Central Europe crop of servers, which you can check out here.

“We expect opening a new region to reduce, not eliminate, queue times for Europe Central,” Smilegate said via Lost Ark’s forums. “However, players choosing the new Europe West region are much less likely to experience long queues.”

Amazon is once again offering Founder’s Pack owners the opportunity to claim an extra set of items should they transfer onto one of the new servers. However, you must have bought the Founder’s Pack before 2:00 P.M. PDT // 8:59 P.M. CET on Feb. 14, 2022. It’s unclear if a similar offer applies to the three Starter Packs as well.

Lost Ark continues to be the sleeper hit that few of us saw coming in 2022. Whether it’ll maintain the momentum is another story altogether, but for now, Amazon has a hit on its hands.

Lost Ark: all Mokoko Seeds in Prideholme

A green thumb isn’t necessary to find these saplings.

Tracking down every Mokoko Seed in Lost Ark takes time, given there are well over 1000 of these shining saplings — don’t get overwhelmed, though. We already went over the purpose and rewards for Mokoko Seeds, so now let’s tackle where to find all nine in Lost Ark’s opening city.

Mokoko Seed locations in Prideholme

There’s no zone in Lost Ark where finding every Mokoko Seed is easier than this. Out of the nine in the city, only two of them are tricky to track down, with the rest being out in the open practically begging for a picking. Check out the map screenshot with (fancy) red highlights below to see what I mean.

Now those two to the left of the Prideholme Cathedral are sneaky because you must stroll through a brick wall to reach them. In the screenshot below, look where the white kitty cat’s behind is sticking out — run through there.

Once behind the wall, go forward for a tick, turn left, then right to reach both seeds. This area is pitch-black, so don’t expect any breadcrumbs leading the way inside.

Pretty straightforward, eh? Well, don’t get comfortable, as Prideholme’s Mokoko Seeds are easy as pie compared to every other zone in Lost Ark

ForTheWin has a couple of Lost Ark explainers if you’re stuck, like which server is best, how to double Founders Pack rewards, and a (totally snark-free) list of things to do while in login queues.

Lost Ark: Mokoko Seeds purpose and rewards

These saplings unlock wonderful in-game items.

If you’re one of the millions playing Lost Ark, you probably want to know more about Mokoko Seeds.

What are Mokoko Seeds?

Like most free-to-play MMORPGs these days, Lost Ark is overflowing will collectibles and currencies — Mokoko Seeds are both. These pear-shaped curiosities are all over zones in Lost Ark, and there are 1202 in total. So collecting all of them takes time, especially with many being carefully hidden away. So keep an eye peeled, or simply visit the Papunika’s interactive world map that lists where every Mokoko Seed is throughout the many zones in Lost Ark

Take a gander at the screenshot below to see what a Mokoko Seed looks like, along with the “look” button prompt that indicates that you’re close enough for gathering one.

Mokoko Seed rewards and trade-in location

Lost Ark: 10 tips to make queuing go faster

Stuck in Lost Ark server queues? You’re not alone, but these tips will help that time fly by.

Lost Ark is available now – though you wouldn’t know it if you’ve been trying to log in at peak times. When servers are well and truly overloaded, you won’t even get to glimpse how long the queue times are for each server. Lost Ark is just that popular, and has been since the early-access period. More servers are being added to help with player congestion, but it might be a while before Lost Ark is easily accessible.

As a result, we have the handy help you need. If you are waiting for those long server queues to tick by, you’ll need something else to help pass the time. In this guide we’ve collected ten different things you can do to help the time pass while waiting to log in to Lost Ark

[mm-video type=video id=01fqmm392cd3652x3drr playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01fqmm392cd3652x3drr/01fqmm392cd3652x3drr-f458f0c2ee01f00511e1a95aa32ad03d.jpg]

Lost Ark is getting a new European server region to cope with the influx of players

Developer Smilegate plans to add an entirely new region of servers to cope with European demand.

Lost Ark is a new MMO that came from nowhere and quickly jumped into the charts on Steam. Diablo in Final Fantasy 14 clothing, it offers something different to a crowd who are starved of new experiences.

At its peak, 1,324,761 people were playing it at the same time. Right this second, there are still over 600,000 people clicking on mobs. Well, to be a little more honest about it, a lot of those people are queuing in the hopes of clicking on some mobs. Lost Ark’s queues are so notorious that they’ve become a meme

Luckily for those players, help is on the way. Developer Smilegate plans to add an entirely new region of servers to cope with European demand.

“This is the only way to accommodate more players in Europe,” said Smilegate. “It’s a joint effort between Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG. Rest assured we are working 24/7 until it’s live.

“While we understand lengthy queue times may persist, we will need time to ensure everything is set up to be in top shape to help accommodate all players to get in game. We’ll share an update on exact timings as soon as possible.”

According to the developer, the new server region will help accommodate new players who want to get into the game. This is because any Founder’s Pack rewards are tied to the server existing players have already selected. There are also some Lost Ark Founder’s rewards on the table for those who want to switch region, at least.

Smilegate does have some compensation for players who are already tied down, however. These include a new horse, skins, healing items, and a bunch more. As soon as the new server region is up, the rewards will be there until March 1.
