Los Angeles Chargers 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds

Analyzing the Los Angeles Chargers 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Los Angeles Chargers have turned to a new head coach in Brandon Staley after making only one playoff appearance in the last seven seasons. Below, we look at the Los Angeles Chargers’ 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

Staley has a promising young talent to work in second-year QB Justin Herbert, the 2020 Offensive Rookie of the Year. The rest of the team needs to be better, and healthier, to have and hope of competing for the AFC West title or even an AFC wild-card playoff berth.

Chargers’ offseason recap

Along with the coaching changes, the Bolts also parted ways with a number of familiar faces, including TE Hunter Henry, CB Casey Hayward and LBs Melvin Ingram and Denzel Perryman.

In their place, free-agent TE Jared Cook and LB Kyler Fackrell were added along with an extreme offensive line makeover that includes first-round pick Rashawn Slater at OT and free-agent C Corey Linsley.

The Chargers’ primary hopes, though, are pinned on another step forward for Herbert, who wowed with 36 total touchdowns and only 10 interceptions in 15 starts as a rookie.

L.A. also needs a return to health for Pro Bowl defenders Joey Bosa and Derwin James, the latter of which missed all of last season due to a knee injury.

Los Angeles Chargers Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks

The Chargers improved by two wins a year ago, going from a 5-11 record in 2019 to 7-9 last year. A matching gain in 2021 — despite a tough schedule — would put them at their posted win total. Adding the 17th game, makes the OVER 9 (-105) wins seem very doable, with minimal juice to pay.

If the Bolts do get to 10 wins, the playoffs should be in play as well in the second year of the expanded postseason field (seven teams in each conference). The nice +150 payoff adds even more allure to the YES wager.

Winning the AFC or the Super Bowl, though, seems far too much to ask for a first-year head coach, a second-year QB and a defense with a number of question marks.
