[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Los Angeles Angels (59-82) and Texas Rangers (68-74) meet Saturday for the 3rd game of a 4-game series. First pitch from Globe Life Field is set for 7:05 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Angels vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 4-4

Los Angeles beat Texas 5-1 Friday as a +135 road underdog. C Logan O’Hoppe hit a 3-run HR in the 6th inning to extend the Angels’ lead to 5-0. Rookie SP Samuel Aldegheri allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits and 3 walks with 7 K’s in 6 innings for his 1st MLB win.

Rangers SP Gerson Garabito picked up the loss, allowing 2 earned runs on 3 hits and 1 walk with 1 K in 2 2/3 innings. Texas’ last 3 losses have all been by at least 4 runs.

Angels at Rangers projected starters

LHP Tyler Anderson vs. RHP Jack Leiter

Anderson (10-12, 3.55 ERA) makes his 28th start. He has a 1.25 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 6.9 K/9 through 162 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, 3 BB, 3 K in a 5-4 home win over Seattle Mariners Aug. 31
  • Career vs. Texas: 2-0, 3.09 ERA (43 2/3 IP, 15 ER), 1.05 WHIP, 7.2 K/9 across 7 starts and 1 relief appearance

Leiter (0-2, 11.78 ERA) makes his 6th career start. The rookie has a 2.13 WHIP, 3.9 BB/9 and 6.4 K/9 through 18 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 5 ER, 7 H, 0 BB, 2 K in 8-4 home loss vs. New York Yankees Monday
  • Has never faced Angels

Angels at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 4, Angels 3

Moneyline

LEAN RANGERS (-150).

Texas is 7-3 in its last 10 games overall and 5-2 in its last 7 at home, while the Angels are 5-5 in their last 10 overall and 2-3 in their last 5 on the road. The Rangers have also won 3 of the last 4 meetings.

This is a lean because the last 10 meetings have been split 5-5.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

I like the Angels to cover here as +1.5 (-175) underdogs because of how closely they have played the Rangers recently. However, this line is too risky to advise betting on, so bet the ML and/or total instead.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8.5 (+100).

The Under has hit in each of the Angels’ last 5 road games and is 4-1 in their last 5 overall. For Texas, the Under is 4-3 in its last 7 wins. The Under has also hit in the last 2 meetings overall and the last 4 in Arlington.

Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Los Angeles Angels (58-81) and Texas Rangers (67-73) begin a 4-game series Thursday. First pitch from Globe Life Field is set for 8:05 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Angels vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 3-3

Angels starter Griffin Canning was lights out on Wednesday against the crosstown rival LA Dodgers. He allowed 1 ER in 6 2/3 IP (4 H, 7 K) in a 10-1 win. CF Mickey Moniak had a 3-run HR and LF Taylor Ward went 3-for-4 with a HR, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. The Angels hit the road for 7 games after going 3-2 over their homestand.

The Rangers got to New York Yankees starter Marcus Stroman early and often on Wednesday and chased him after 3 2/3 IP (5 ER, 9 H, 1 BB, 3 K) in a 10-6 win. RF Adolis Garcia had a bases clearing double, LF Wyatt Langford and 2B Ezequiel Duran each had 3 hits and 2 RBIs and 1B Nathaniel Lowe had 3 hits and a RBI. Texas has won 7 of its last 10 games.

Angels at Rangers projected starters

RHP Jack Kochanowicz vs. LHP Cody Bradford

Kochanowicz (2-3, 4.96 ERA) makes his 7th career start. He has a 1.41 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9 and 3.3 K/9 in 32 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 0 BB, 4 K in 3-0 road victory against Detroit Tigers Aug. 29
  • 2024 away splits: 2-1, 4.56 ERA (23 1/3 IP, 12 ER), 1.23 WHIP, 4.2 K/9 in 4 starts
  • First time facing Rangers

Bradford (4-2, 3.21 ERA) makes his 10th start and 11th appearance. He has a 0.89 WHIP, 1.3 BB/9 and 8.4 K/9 in 56 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 7 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 0 BB, 8 K in 3-2 home victory against Oakland A’s Saturday
  • 2024 home splits: 3-1, 2.72 ERA (43 IP, 14 R (13 ER), 0.79 WHIP, 8.4 K/9 in 7 starts
  • Career vs Angels: 0-1, 7.56 ERA (8 1/3 IP, 7 ER), 1.23 WHIP, 6.7 K/9 in 2 starts

  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread: Angels +1.5 (-156) | Rangers -1.5 (+130)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Angels at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 6, Angels 3

Moneyline

PASS.

The Rangers (-154) will take the opener of this series in Arlington, but I’d rather put my wager on the run line.

Run line/Against the spread

BET RANGERS -1.5 (+130).

The Rangers are finding their groove at just the right time, making them a strong pick on the run line against the Angels. They’re 4-2 on a 10-game homestand and with wins in 7 of their last 9 games, including a series win over the Yankees, Texas is now 38-33 at home. Plus, the Rangers have covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 games.

On the flip side, the Angels are limping toward the finish line, with their team batting average dropping every month. They’ve hit just .213 in August and are batting .219 as a team since the All-Star break. For the defending champs who are 81/2 games out of the last AL Wild card spot, every win is crucial if they want to make a postseason push and dropping games at home to a struggling Angels squad is simply not an option. Back the Rangers to cover the run line in this matchup.

Over/Under

PASS.

My lean is the Over because the Rangers have hit it in 5 of their last 6 games but besides that, the trends don’t feel right. I’d rather focus my attention on the run line.

Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Los Angeles Angels (17-29) and Texas Rangers (24-23) wrap up their 3-game series Sunday. First pitch from Globe Life Field is slated for 2:35 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Angels vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1; Rangers won 3-2 Saturday after losing 9-3 Friday

Angels RHP Carson Fulmer hit Rangers 1B Nathaniel Lowe with a pitch to force home the winning run in the bottom of the 13th inning on Saturday. The Angels failed to capitalize on a stellar outing from starter RHP Patrick Sandoval (6 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 5 Ks). RF Adolis Garcia also parked his 11th HR. The tough loss ended a 2-game win streak.

Texas starter RHP Jose Urena went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits in a no-decision. Texas has not scored more than 4 runs since May 8th.

Angels at Rangers projected starters

RHP Jose Soriano vs. RHP Michael Lorenzen

Soriano (1-4, 3.72 ERA) makes his 8th start and 10th appearance. He has a 1.29 WHIP, 4.7 BB/9 and 8.8 K/9 in 38 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 6 K in 10-5 home loss to St. Louis Cardinals Monday
  • 3rd appearance (1st start) vs. Rangers; has 4 Ks in 2 IP
  • 2024 road splits: 1-1, 1.82 ERA, 24 2/3 IP, 16 H, 5 ER, 13 BB, 24 K in 5 games (4 starts)

Lorenzen (2-2, 3.75 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.25 WHIP, 4.5 BB/9 and 6.8 K/9 in 36 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 7 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 4 BB, 4 K in 7-0 loss against the Cleveland Guardians Monday
  • 2023 vs. Angels: 1-1, 4.91 ERA, 11 IP, 7 R (6 ER), 13 H, 3 BB, 12 K in 2 starts

Angels at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Angels 5, Rangers 3

Moneyline.

BET ANGELS (+140).

I believe the Halos win this series on Sunday afternoon, especially after losing the way they did on Saturday. It has to sting. Los Angeles is 11-13 on the season away from home. They have nearly double the number of wins on the road than at home. Saturday was the 1st time in 4 games the Angels were held under 5 runs.

The Rangers cannot get their bats going, especially at Globe Life. They are hitting just .239 at home on the season.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

I’m betting the Angels moneyline, which means I’ll stay away from anything related to the run line.

Over/Under

PASS.

I just don’t see an edge to want to make a bet either way.

The teams are 4-4-2 against the Over in their last 10 meetings. The Angels have been Over in 4 of their last 5 while the Rangers have been Under in 4 of their last 6.

I’m going to save my money for that moneyline play.

Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Los Angeles Angels (17-28) and Texas Rangers (23-23) play the 2nd game of a 3-game series Saturday. First pitch from Globe Life Field is slated for 7:15 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Angels vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Angels lead 1-0

The Angels beat the Rangers 9-3 in Friday’s series opener. DH Willie Calhoun went 4 for 5 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. He is 7 for 10 during the Angels’ current 2-game win streak. LF Taylor Ward and SS Zach Neto each hit home runs for the Halos as well.

Texas starter LHP Andrew Heaney only lasted 3 2/3 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 ER) on 5 hits. All of the Rangers offense came from home runs off the bats of 2B Marcus Semien and C Jonah Heim. Over the last 6 outings, Texas is only producing 2.3 runs per game. It has dropped 6 of its last 7 games.

Angels at Rangers projected starters

LHP Patrick Sandoval vs. RHP Jose Urena

Sandoval (2-6, 5.00 ERA) makes his 10th start. He has a 1.53 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 9.6 K/9 in 45 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 4 ER, 11 H, 0 BB, 3 K in 4-2 home loss to Kansas City Royals Sunday
  • 2023 vs. Rangers: 0-1, 6.35 ERA, 5 2/3 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 11 BB, 8 K in 2 starts

Urena (1-3, 3.62 ERA) makes his 3rd start and 13th appearance. He has a 1.24 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 5.8 K/9 in 32 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 3 K in 3-1 loss at Colorado Rockies Sunday
  • Career vs Angels: 1-1, 8.68 ERA, 9 1/3 IP, 9 ER, 10 H, 9 BB, 11 K in 2 starts

Angels at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Angels 8, Rangers 7

Moneyline.

BET ANGELS (+116).

Why not go back to the well for a 2nd straight day. The Angels continue to be road warriors with a record of 11-12 on the season away from Los Angeles. They also own a winning record (6-1) against left-handed pitching on the season. That may be because they are batting over .270 as a team against southpaws.

The Rangers continue to struggle at Globe Life with a record of 11-11 and hitting under .250 as a team.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

I’m taking the shot on the Angels moneyline, which means I’ll stay away from anything related to the run line.

Over/Under

BET OVER 8.5 (-106).

I firmly believe this game is going to be a shootout. The winner will be the team that scores last. You’ve got 2 struggling pitchers in Globe Life Field, which is one of the most hitter-friendly environments in baseball.

The Angels hit this run total by themselves Friday night, and the Rangers are once again putting a southpaw on the mound Saturday evening.

I’m going to save my money for that moneyline play.

Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Texas Rangers at Los Angeles Angels odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Los Angeles Angels (16-28) and Texas Rangers (23-22) begin a 3-game series Friday. First pitch from Globe Life Field is slated for 8:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Angels vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Rangers won 2023 season series 7-6

Los Angeles snapped a 3-game losing streak and avoided being swept at home by the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday with a 7-2 victory. Six players in the Angels lineup had 2 or more hits, led by a 3-for-5 performance from DH Willie Calhoun. They also got HRs from LF Taylor Ward, SS Zach Neto, and 1B Nolan Schanuel. The Angels have an ERA of 3.92 on the road compared to 5.59 at home this season.

The defending World Series champs won their first game since May 8th on Wednesday, 4-0 over the Cleveland Guardians. Rangers RF Adolis Garcia went 2-for-4 with a 2-run blast in the 6th inning. Texas also got a 2-run shot from 2B Marcus Semien. Starter RHP Jon Gray shut down the Guardians lineup over 6 1/3 innings. Over their last 6 outings, Texas is only producing 2.3 runs per game.

Angels at Rangers projected starters

LHP Tyler Anderson vs. LHP Andrew Heaney

Anderson (3-4, 2.92 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 1.14 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 6.6 K/9 in 49 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 9-3 home win over the Kansas City Royals Saturday
  • 2023 vs. Angels: 0-0, 5.73 ERA, 11 IP, 13 H, 7 ER, 7 BB, 13 K in 2 starts

Angels at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Angels 6, Rangers 4

Moneyline.

BET ANGELS (+144).

It may be wishful thinking, but I do have my reasons. First of all, the Angels have played much better on the road than they have in Los Angeles. They also own a winning record (5-1 against left-handed pitching on the season. That may be because they are batting nearly .270 as a team against southpaws.

The Rangers have been just pedestrian at Globe Life this season. They are 11-11 and hitting under .250 as a team.

Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Los Angeles Angels (59-62) finish a 3-game series against the Texas Rangers (72-48) on Wednesday at Globe Life Field. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Angels vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Rangers lead 5-4

The Angels lost 7-3 to the Rangers Tuesday despite OF Randall Grichuk hitting a 2-run homer in the 9th inning. Los Angeles has lost 7 of its last 10 games and has fallen to 4th place in the AL West, 13 1/2 games back of the division-leading Rangers.

The Rangers got a 2-homer performance from SS Corey Seager in Tuesday’s 4-run victory over the Angels. Texas is 8-2 in its last 10 contests and is 3 1/2 games ahead of the Houston Astros atop the division.

Angels at Rangers projected starters

LHP Reid Detmers vs. RHP Jon Gray

Detmers (2-9, 5.27 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.41 WHIP, 3.7 BB/9 and 11.0 K/9 through 107 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 2 1/3 IP, 7 ER, 7 H, 3 BB, 0 K in an 11-3 road loss to the Astros Friday

Gray (8-5, 3.65 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.19 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 7.6 K/9 through 120 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 0 BB, 7 K in a 2-1 road victory over the San Francisco Giants on August 11.
  • 2023 home stats: 3-3, 4.50 ERA (62 IP, 31 ER) in 11 starts
  • Career vs. Angels: 2-0, 4.19 ERA (19 1/3 IP, 9 ER) in 3 starts

Angels at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 6, Angels 4

Moneyline

While the Rangers should continue their recent stretch of success, just AVOID taking their moneyline in this game at nearly -200 odds.

Run line/Against the spread

RANGERS -1.5 (+105) is the play here as Texas has been rolling again since Seager returned to the lineup. The Rangers have outscored their opponents 28-6 in their last 3 wins, including 19-3 in the first 2 games of this series.

Over/Under

With Detmers’ woes this season and Gray’s mediocre play at home, I’ll side with the OVER 9 (-110) in this matchup. The Over is 7-1-2 in the last 10 meetings overall.

Detmers has given up 7 earned runs in back-to-back starts, and Gray has allowed 4 earned runs or more in 3 of his last 5 starts.

Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Angels (59-61) and the Texas Rangers (71-48) play the middle contest of a 3-game series at Globe Life Field Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Angels vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 4-4

The Angels managed just 1 hit — a 2nd-inning, infield single by 1B Mike Moustakas — in a 12-0 blowout loss to the Rangers in the series opener Monday. RHP Max Scherzer was dominant in his 2nd start since being acquired from the New York Mets, finishing with 11 strikeouts in 7 innings for Texas, which was a -192 favorite.

Los Angeles was sloppy on defense, too, committing 3 errors, including 2 by SS Andrew Velazquez. The Halos continue to sink like a stone in the AL West as they’re just 3-10 across the past 13 games. The Over has cashed in 5 of the past 7 games, while the pitching staff has coughed up 11 or more runs in 3 of the past 4 outings.

While the Halos could do nothing on offense, the Rangers piled up 7 extra-base hits with 5 doubles and 2 homers among the team’s 13 hits Monday. 2B Marcus Semien had a 3-run HR while driving in 5 runs, and All-Star OF Adolis Garcia cracked his 30th HR of the season.

The Rangers have won 11 of their past 13 games since the MLB non-waiver trade deadline. They lead the division by 3½ games over the Houston Astros, who lost to the Miami Marlins 5-1 Monday.

Angels at Rangers projected starters

RHP Lucas Giolito vs. LHP Jordan Montgomery

Giolito (7-8, 4.37 ERA) makes his 25th start of the season and 4th start for the Angels since being acquired from the Chicago White Sox. Between the 2 clubs, he has a 1.26 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 9.6 K/9 in 136 innings in 2023.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 7 K in 7-5 home win vs. San Francisco Giants Aug. 8
  • 3 starts since trade: 1-2, 9.00 ERA (15 IP, 15 ER), 1.60 WHIP
  • 2023 road splits: 3-6, 6.15 ERA (67 1/3 IP, 46 ER), 17 HR, 1.63 WHIP, .288 opponent batting average (OBA) in 13 starts

Montgomery (7-10, 3.38 ERA) makes his 24th start and 3rd start since joining the Rangers after a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals. He has a 1.25 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and 8.1 K/9 in 133 innings between the Cardinals and Rangers.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 H, 1 BB, 5 K in 2-0 road loss vs. the Oakland A’s Wednesday
  • 2 starts since trade: 1-1, 3.00 ERA (12 IP, 4 ER), 1.25 WHIP
  • 2023 home splits: 5-4, 3.45 ERA (70 1/3 IP, 27 ER), 1.280 WHIP, .262 OBA in 12 starts

Angels at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 7, Angels 4

Moneyline

While I usually don’t like backing favorites of more than -160, the RANGERS (-165) are the play in Game 2 of this series. Montgomery hasn’t nearly been as dominant as fellow deadline acquisition Scherzer, but he has been solid since coming over from St. Louis.

On the flip side, the Angels (+140) have been hot garbage since the deadline, and this team is fading from the picture fast.

Run line/Against the spread

The RANGERS -1.5 (+125) are worth a look on the run line. Texas easily covered the run line as a favorite Monday, and the Angels might have trouble with Giolito on the hill.

Giolito was added prior to the deadline from the White Sox, but he hasn’t helped, coughing up 15 earned runs in 15 innings, while serving up 5 homers. Not good.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

Consider an OVER 9 (-105) bet as Giolito, as mentioned, has been very giving since joining the Halos. The concern is whether or not the Angels offense can cobble together enough offense against Montgomery — they were 1-hit Monday. The Angels are in a downward spiral, and it remains to be seen if they can pull out of it.

Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Angels (59-60) and the Texas Rangers (70-48) open a 3-game series at Globe Life Field on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Angels vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Angels lead 4-3 — including a 3-1 mark at Globe Life Field

The Angels dropped 2 of 3 games against the Houston Astros over the weekend while being outscored 23-8 in the first part of the Texas two-step. The Halos are in a nosedive since MLB’s non-waiver trade deadline on Aug. 1, going just 3-9 in 12 games since.

The Rangers enter play with a 2 1/2-game lead in the AL West over the Astros, and Texas leads the AL with a +181 run differential. It is 2nd in the majors only to the Atlanta Braves (+193).

Texas has won 4 straight series since getting swept in a 3-game interleague series in San Diego July 28-30. The Rangers are 10-2 across the past 12 games overall while the Under has cashed in 12 of their last 15 games.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 8 K in 8-3 home loss vs. the San Francisco Giants last Monday
  • 2023 road splits: 4-4, 3.23 ERA (55 2/3 IP, 20 ER – 3 HR), .224 opponent batting average (OBA) in 11 starts
  • Career vs. Texas: 1-2, 3.07 ERA (29 1/3 IP, 10 ER), .211 OBA in 5 starts and 1 relief appearance

Angels at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 4, Angels 2

Moneyline

PASS.

The Rangers (-185) are a little pricey as they come in just over my personal moneyline limit of -180 for a singular bet.

Texas is normally a strong play with Scherzer on the bump, but this has been bet up. He has been a great plug-in for the Rangers rotation, immediately giving them a huge boost at the trade deadline.

The Angels (+150) have been skidding hard, busting out after going all-in to make RHP/DH Shohei Ohtani happy with the team’s direction. The Halos are in a nosedive, and you need to keep fading them.

Run line/Against the spread

The RANGERS -1.5 (+105) are worth playing at plus money on the run line.

There is a little risk here, as the southpaw Sandoval actually has much better road splits for the Angels than his production at home. Still, Texas has Scherzer and a red-hot offense.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

UNDER 9 (-115) might be the best play on the board in this series opener.

The Under has cashed in each of Scherzer’s starts since landing in Arlington, and the total has gone low in 12 of the past 15 games overall for Texas.

The Under is 9-6-1 in the past 16 games overall for the Angels and is 6-3 in their last 9 games on the road. The Under is also 3-1-1 in Sandoval’s past 5 road assignments.

Season series: Tied 3-3

The Angels have taken 2 of 3 games in this series and are 8-2 in their last 10 games. For the season, the club’s 8.8% walk rate ranks as average, but Los Angeles has drawn 18 walks so far in this series.

Angels at Rangers projected starters

RHP Shoehi Ohtani vs. RHP Nathan Eovaldi

Ohtani (5-2, 3.32 ERA) makes his 14th start. He has a 1.04 WHIP, 4.0 BB/9 and 12.1 K/9 in 76 innings.

  • Clocked a 2.74 ERA through his 1st 8 starts, but owns a 4.20 mark since
  • Owns a 4.22 ERA on the road

Eovaldi (9-2, 2.49 ERA) is lined up for his 14th start. He’s posted a 0.98 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9 and 8.6 K/9 in 86 2/3 innings.

Angels at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 5, Angels 4

Moneyline

Analytic measures mostly back up the Rangers leading MLB in runs per game (6.20) while ranking 6th in runs allowed (4.05). Eovaldi has a solid history against the Halos (.669 OPS allowed), and there is some slight Texas lean despite the Ranger starter having some overall fade to his numbers.

The Ranger bullpen figures as better than its surface ERA of 4.54. The prognosis for the Angels and their 3.36 relief ERA swings the other way.

TAKE TEXAS (-134).

Run line/Against the spread

The Halos have played a lot of 1-run ball games. They have also fared well in in get-away games on the road.

PASS.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

The Over is 11-2-3 in the last 16 series meetings in Texas.

With some 3-sided fade to the pitching here (both starters, LA bullpen) and the way both clubs hit right-handers, the Over is the play in this game. The back ends of both bullpens are in caution-flag territory when it comes to potential fatigue, and that helps tilt this game toward a higher score.

Would’ve hoped for more of a sneak attack with these starters however: a 7.5 would have made for good leverage. The number and tag listed is worth partial-unit action only. TAKE THE OVER 8 (-118). A fully vested play comes into view on a price less than -115.

Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Los Angeles Angels (38-31) and Texas Rangers (41-25) meet Wednesday in game 3 of a 4-game AL West series in Arlington. First pitch at Globe Life Field is slated for 8:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Angels vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Angels lead 3-2

The Angels won 7-3 Tuesday and have clubbed 5 home runs in taking the first 2 games of this series. Los Angeles is 8-1 over its last 9 games; it trails the division-leading Rangers by 4 1/2 games after being 9 down as recently as June 6.

The Rangers have lost 3 straight games and 5 of their last 6. Texas pitching owns a 5.40 ERA over that stretch.

Angels at Rangers projected starters

LHP Reid Detmers vs. LHP Andrew Heaney

Detmers (1-5, 4.79 ERA) makes his 12th start. He has a 1.51 WHIP, 3.7 BB/9 and 10.9 K/9 through 56 1/3 IP.

  • Faced the Rangers on May 6: Loss, 4 IP,  3 ER, 7H and 2 BB
  • Has a 4.39 ERA over his last 5 starts against Texas (2022-23)
  • Owns a 4.41 ERA and 1.35 WHIP across 206 career IP
  • Has been hindered by a .377 batting average on balls in play (BABIP) and a 65.4% left-on-base rate; several expected-ERA figures sit nearly a full run lower than his surface ERA
  • Clocked a 5.09 ERA and 1.57 WHIP on the road in his career

Heaney (4-4, 4.14 ERA) is making his 13th start. He has notched a 1.25 WHIP, 3.9 BB/9 and 9.3 K/9 through 63 IP.

  • Pitched for the Halos from 2015-21 but has never faced them
  • Owns a 4.52 ERA over 149 career games
  • Has struggled at home this season: 5.67 ERA, 1.53 WHIP

Angels at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Angels 5, Rangers 4

Moneyline

Texas was the lean in Tuesday’s game, but the pitching match-up changes the calculus for this one. Peg Detmers’ talent as outshining his surface numbers while the opposite holds true for Heaney.

The Angels have been drawing walks and hitting homers at a nice clip of late.

TAKE LOS ANGELES (+116).

Run line/Against the spread

The Angels have played a lot of 1-run ball games, but this contest has a high total, both teams hit lefties well, and the home/road splits for the starters indicate this one could get loose.

PASS.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

No lean to either side of this figure. Starter, bullpen, offense-versus-expectancy and platoon strengths disseminate different signals.  PASS.
