I do not see a scenario where the Angels win this game. We saw on full display in Game 1 the stark difference in talent between these teams.

The luxury of having Burnes means that Rodriguez doesn’t have the pressure of carrying the rotation. Rodriguez was coming into his own at the end of the season; he didn’t allow more than 2 earned runs over his final 6 regular-season starts.

BET OVER 8.5 (-110).

The Orioles would’ve gone over this total by themselves in the series opener. Canning has allowed over an earned run per inning against the Orioles in his career. Baltimore as a team hit .253 against right-handed pitching in 2023.

These teams are wound tight on Opening Day, and it usually takes a bit for them to get warmed up. You’ve also got a top-tier pitcher on the mound for the Orioles against a sub-par lineup. Baltimore hit .259 against left-handed pitchers in 2023, and Sandoval is winless against the Orioles in his career.

I like the ORIOLES (-145) to win this game outright, and hopefully we get the good version of Bradish and not the one that was roughed up by the Red Sox last month.

Of the Orioles’ last 10 wins, 9 of them have been by at least 2 runs, so they’ve been covering the run line in their victories. If you like them to win Wednesday as I do, they’re worth betting at -1.5 with a value of +135.

Both clubs have faced weak pitching slates so far, which has overinflated their batting numbers. And facing a right-handed pitcher puts them on the weaker side of their platoon splits.

The Baltimore offense has leveraged a .354 BABIP in high-leverage situations. Like the Angels, the Orioles are also more dangerous against port-siders.

The pitching here is solid: Ohtani overall, Rodriguez better than surface numbers show, and the Baltimore bullpen is quite good.

The Baltimore offense should put some runs on the board themselves against Barria, but the Angels should come out on top.
