Jake Paul, Logan Paul reality show will remind you of your own family. Well, sorta.

“Paul American,” starring Jake and Logan Paul, releases new episodes on HBO Max each Thursday.

They fight. They make up.

They laugh. They cry.

They love.

“Paul American,’’ the new reality show starring [autotag]Jake Paul[/autotag] and [autotag]Logan Paul[/autotag], premieres Thursday night on HBO Max. In many ways, the famous brothers and their family will remind you of your own.

Well, perhaps with the exception of Logan Paul apparently smoking weed with his father, Greg, who carries a hunting knife and muses about blowing up Los Angeles.

Or Jake Paul having a romantic anniversary dinner with his girlfriend, only to leave her at the table and loudly relieve himself nearby.

Season 1 of “Paul American” is eight episodes, with a new episode available to HBO Max subscribers every Thursday. USA TODAY Sports viewed the first four episodes, and at times found the series endearing, entertaining, funny and dull.

The bottom line: If you’re fans of Jake Paul, the 28-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer, and Logan Paul, the 29-year-old YouTuber-turned-pro wrestler, their reality show will be mandatory viewing.

If you’re not fans, however, the show probably won’t change your opinion of them. Although some Paul critics might develop an appreciation, if not affection, for the brothers who rocketed to fame via social media.

Their divorced parents add a nice touch to the show. But “Paul American’’ is at its best when the brothers are interacting with their significant others.

Logan is engaged to Nina Agdal, a Danish model who was on the 50th anniversary cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue in 2014. Jake recently got engaged to Jutta Leerdam, a Dutch speedskater, who clearly adores him but in one scene shows a flash of annoyance as Jake starts hamming it up for the cameras.

“You’re in your character a lot,’’ Leerdam says. “This is reality, so snap out of it.’’

[lawrence-related id=2814142,2813594]

Trying to discern how much of this show is “reality” is part of the challenge.

The episode focuses on the Paul brothers pitching the reality show to Hollywood producers while simultaneously engaged in a fight meant to underscore their sibling rivalry. It’s not convincing.

Logan calls Tyson old during a podcast. Jake angrily accuses Logan of undermining the fight. Hostility spikes as they’re trying to sell a reality show!

Reality or “reality?”

Soon enough they reconcile and are pitching the show on a joint phone call and celebrating news that they’ve landed a deal.

It’s some of the least compelling content in the first four episodes. But it’s useful as a means of introducing their parents and their dad’s hunting knife to the TV audience, along with Agdal and Leerdam, who establish themselves as pivotal to the show’s success.

Agdal, for example, has a surprise for Logan. A surprise that should help keep viewers tuned in to episodes 3 and 4, when the series picks up steam.

‘Paul American’ does pack some surprises

Leerdam says Jake’s a romantic. Outrageous? Well, it appears to be undeniably true, despite his relieving himself near the table during their one-year anniversary dinner.

For years, Jake has ranted that his critics don’t know “the real’’ Jake Paul. This is his chance to present that person.

The show takes us behind the scenes during Jake’s preparation for a fight against Mike Perry on July 20. Perhaps there is a piece of the real Jake, engaged in meditation, breathwork and a spiritual ceremony as the fight approaches.

You might not know the “real” Jake better than the bombastic YouTuber-turned-boxer, but you’ll probably feel like you know him better.

If there’s a sense of true “reality,’’ it’s Leerdam, who comes across as the most authentic person in the show. Although it’s not entirely clear how much Agdal and Jake’s mother, Pam, approve of her. Perhaps that’ll become clearer as the show progresses and the Pauls wrestle with something that feels real.

“Views and followers and subscribers is a very lethal drug,’’ Jake Paul says at one point. “It’s the YouTuber disease. …

“The cameras are always around.”

Logan Paul reveals Dana White ignored his offer to fight at UFC 300: ‘I’m not CM Punk’

Logan Paul was hoping to be a part of the UFC’s historic 300th pay-per-view show.

[autotag]Logan Paul[/autotag] was hoping to be a part of the UFC’s historic 300th pay-per-view show.

WWE star Paul revealed that he asked [autotag]Dana White[/autotag] if he could be a part of UFC 300 last April, but the UFC CEO didn’t respond to his text. Unlike Paul’s brother Jake, Logan has a good relationship with White.

Paul wrestled in high school and college, and thinks he would have had potential to do well in the octagon. In 2020, Paul sparred former title challenger Paulo Costa at the UFC Performance Institute, and appeared to hold his own in the grappling.

“I told Dana for UFC 300, I texted him, ‘Hey man, consider me available to fight on the undercard in the Sphere,'” Paul said on his IMPAULSIVE podcast. “Basically, completely ignored me, which I think spoke volumes. I haven’t bothered him about it since. I think for the right fight, the right amount of money (I would do it). Man, I’m an entertainer at the end of the day.”

It wouldn’t have been the first time a WWE star competed in the UFC. CM Punk decided to transition to MMA, and made his debut in the octagon at UFC 203 in 2016. He was quickly submitted by Mickey Gall, then lost his second appearance to Mike Jackson by unanimous decision at UFC 225 in 2018, which was later overturned to a no contest after Jackson tested positive for marijuana.

Paul insists he would have done better than Punk.

“He f*cked it up,” Paul said of Punk. “He f*cked it up, and after that Dana was like, ‘I’m never doing this again.’ But, dude, I’m not CM Punk. He’s a great wrestler, not a UFC fighter. I think I would be a much better UFC fighter than I would be as just a boxer. My skill is wrestling. I am a wrestler by trade.

“I think I found a path. I’m a WWE Superstar now, and it’s one of the only things I’ve done in my life where I feel so at home like, ‘Oh you were kind of meant to do this thing.’ I don’t know if I want to turn away from that at the moment and dedicate time to something that would be like a side quest at this point.”

Jake Paul and Logan Paul announce reality show instead of boxing match

The Paul brothers’ hype poster turned out to be a promotion for a new reality show rather than a boxing fight.

[autotag]Jake Paul[/autotag] and [autotag]Logan Paul[/autotag] ended speculation that they’ll be squaring off in the boxing ring.

The brothers on Thursday announced they’ll be launching a family reality show, “Paul American”’ starting March 27 on HBO Max.

The Pauls opened an appearance on Instagram live with combative talk that culminated with a shoving match. But the grimaces melted into fake crying and smiles as they revealed the details of their announcement.

“Guys, everything we said besides beating each other’s ass is true, and maybe we’ll do that one day,” Logan Paul said. “But today, this is something we’ve waited our whole lives for, our entire lives.”

On Tuesday, a post from the Pauls on X, formerly Twitter, showed them facing off in an image that stirred talk of a possible boxing match.

A prospective fight between Logan Paul and Conor McGregor has yet to materialize and Jake Paul has not announced his next fight since beating Mike Tyson by unanimous decision Nov. 15.

Why the Jake Paul and Logan Paul ‘fight’ may not be a boxing match

There are quite a few reasons to believe the “fight” between the Paul brothers won’t be an actual fight.

Jake Paul and Logan Paul captured the internet’s attention on Tuesday when the pair teased what, at least on its face, appears to be a fight between the two.

The event is scheduled for March 27 and will stream on Max. Both Paul brothers posted graphics for the supposed fight, leading many to believe they will truly face off in the ring this spring.

However, there are quite a few reasons to be skeptical that this “fight” will actually be a fight.

To start, neither brother mentions an actual fight in the posts. Both posted identical captions, which read “The moment you’ve waited a decade for.”

While that’s the first clue that this event may be something other than a boxing match, there are other indicators, as well.

According to a report from USA TODAY’s Josh Peter, a fight between the Pauls hasn’t been listed on BoxRec, a database that charts both sanctioned professional and amateur fights. However, it does not list exhibitions.

Per Peter’s report, more information about the event is expected on Thursday. Neither Warner Bros. Discovery or Jake Paul’s MVP promotions put out a press release along with the brothers’ announcements.

Max, which did repost both announcements on social media, did not respond to a request for comment from Awful Announcing regarding whether there will be a fight between the Pauls.

There are also logical reasons to think this may not actually be a fight. As Awful Announcing’s Ben Axelrod points out, Jake is a much more experienced fighter and typically weighs 30 pounds heavier than Logan.

Logan Paul is also expected to take part in WWE’s WrestleMania 41 in April, calling into question whether he could promote the event while also preparing for a boxing match.

As it stands now, it seems there will be some sort of event featuring the Paul brothers on March 27 that will stream on Max. But there are quite a few hints that it isn’t going to be a boxing match, as everyone hoped.

Jake Paul vs. Logan Paul in March? Why fans shouldn’t get hopes up despite announcement

Jake and Logan Paul jointly made an announcement on social media, but there’s good reason to believe it won’t be an actual boxing match.

[autotag]Jake Paul[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Logan Paul[/autotag]?

The brothers jointly announced it Tuesday on social media, describing it as “the moment you’ve waited a decade for.”

But there’s mounting speculation − and good reason to believe − this will not be an actual boxing match. Posts from the Paul brothers indicate the event will be streamed March 27 on Max, which falls on a Thursday.

More information is expected this Thursday that likely will clarify the nature of the event.

A Paul brothers fight is not listed on BoxRec, which charts sanctioned professional and amateur bouts. BoxRec does not list exhibitions.

A prospective fight between Logan Paul and Conor McGregor has failed to materialize and Jake Paul has yet to announce his next fight since beating Mike Tyson on Nov. 15 by unanimous decision.

It’ll be hard to top the numbers from Paul’s blockbuster bout against Tyson. That fight, held in front of 72,300 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, generated more than $18 million at the live gate – more than any boxing event in the U.S. outside of Nevada, according to Most Valuable Promotions, a company founded by Paul.

Netflix said its broadcast of the fight peaked with 65 million concurrent livestreams, including 38 million in the U.S.

Conor McGregor says UFC shut down Logan Paul bout, threatens surprise BKFC fight

Conor McGregor had a message for “p*ssies” on UFC’s legal team after claiming the company shut down his “glorified spar” with Logan Paul.

[autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] is still driven to face one of the Paul brothers inside a boxing ring despite claiming the UFC brass shut down his most recent attempt.

Several weeks ago, surprising reports surfaced that McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) was in talks to face WWE star and YouTuber [autotag]Logan Paul[/autotag] in a boxing match in India for a potential price tag of $250 million each. More credence started to build about the possibility, but UFC CEO Dana White recently said it would not happen, and Paul emphasized his focus on his professional wrestling career.

McGregor and both Logan and his brother Jake were at Donald Trumps’ Presidential Inauguration this week, and crossed paths on a bus to the event. Both Paul brothers poked fun at McGregor for not being able to escape the promotional power of his current UFC contract, and now the former two-division UFC champion has stated that the it was indeed the company brass that swatted the idea away.

“It is what it is,” McGregor told “The Schmo” on Thursday. “The UFC just aren’t into it. The offer was there on the table, in writing. Both athletes will say, ‘He’s not fighting,’ but both athlete are under the TKO banner. UFC, WWE both rising up. The stock price of TKO Holding Ground (is) through the roof. New market in India opened up and booming. It was business savvy, and business sense to make the fight happen. Or should I say the glorified spar happen.

“In between this waiting period that we find ourselves in before I can get back to the octagon, it made perfect sense on the calendar to go ahead with it. The UFC weren’t into it. The WWE, I’m not sure what their interest in it was. I just knew the UFC weren’t into it.”

McGregor, 36, hasn’t seen combat sports competition since he suffered a broken leg in his July 2021 trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier. He was scheduled to return from a nearly three-year layoff against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June, but withdrew due to a toe injury just a few weeks prior to the event.

Additionally, in November, McGregor was found liable for sexual assault by a jury in a case stemming from a 2018 incident.

The Irishman indicated he wants to get back to the cage soon, and even threatened to compete in an unapproved out-of-contract bout for BKFC, a promotion in which he is part owner.

“One of these days you’ll just hear my music come onto this stage in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and I’ll have my fist wrapped with no gloves for a fight, out of nowhere,” McGregor said. “No promotion. No promo. No nothing. Just fighting a random fight on the card. That could be what the future holds. And legal making claims and all this? That’s for p*ssies.”

In closing, McGregor stated that he is not giving up hope on fighting Jake or Logan Paul in the future. He also named KSI as a potential opponent. One thing he made clear, however, is that the money being thrown around to face those type of names in a boxing format is of significant interest.

“I’m more inclined now for this influencer f*cking, whatever you call it – because it’s astronomical money,” McGregor said. “It’s astro-nomical, the figures. Who is there? Jake. Logan. KSI. I like the three of these guys and then all these other ones that are tussling around. So it’s an interesting little side pocket branch, we’ll call it. Stuff it down me sock and out I go.”

Conor McGregor confronts Jake, Logan Paul during Trump inauguration bus ride

Former UFC champ Conor McGregor got in Logan Paul’s face about securing their potential boxing match.

[autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] hasn’t fought in a while, but his competitive banter still remains as strong as ever.

The former two-division UFC champion’s next move could be a lucrative bout against [autotag]Logan Paul[/autotag] in India. According to initial rumors, the purses could total $250 million for the showdown between McGregor and Paul, but the fight isn’t yet set in stone.

McGregor confronted his potential opponent Logan and his brother Jake Paul earlier this week while on their way to the United States presidential inauguration. McGregor’s energy was off the charts, but he kept things professional enough while talking trash to the Paul Brothers as they rode on the same bus to the event.

Portions of their interactions were captured in a vlog posted to Logan’s YouTube channel.

“It’s all sweet here, yeah?” McGregor said as he approached Logan outside to ask about their fight. “You kept your mouth shut, you did. I thought we were gonna get the fight going? You’re very quiet. You’re giving all this Dana this, Dana that – you’re f*cking controlled by the WWE as well, bro. … Bring it home for me.”

Moments later on the bus, McGregor continued to discuss the potential showdown, suggesting the fight take place at 190 or 195 pounds.

“Here’s the deal, I’m gonna slap the head off the two of yous, and KSI,” McGregor said just inches away from Jake and Logan. “All three. … Side jobs. A little side job, yeah?”

“You can’t even do your main job, how you gonna do a side job?” Logan quipped in a witty response. “… It’s crazy being on a bus with you. If there’s a dolly it would be going through a window.”

Despite the trash talk, the interactions were jovial and somewhat light hearted as McGregor simply appeared interested in securing another big payday in combat sports. Afterall, he hasn’t fought since breaking his leg in a trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

Logan, who has recently re-dedicated himself to his career as a wrestler in WWE, was last in the boxing ring in October 2023, when he won an exhibition against Dillon Danis by TKO when all hell broke loose.

Conor McGregor speaks to Logan Paul regarding boxing match: ‘This can and will happen’

YouTube star Logan Paul shares a piece of his conversation with UFC star Conor McGregor regarding a potential boxing match.

Well, the [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Logan Paul[/autotag] boxing match rumors and speculations keep on heating up.

On Thursday, in a video blog posted on Paul’s YouTube account, the social media influencer and WWE SuperStar showed part of a conversation he had over the phone with McGregor in regard to their potential fight in the ring. Not a ton is shown, but the Irishman clearly sounds interested in bringing the idea into reality.

“This can happen, my man, for real,” McGregor said. “This can and will happen.”

Paul has some boxing training and experience. He infamously fought retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an exhibition bout back in 2021. Recently, Paul has been gearing up for a full-time run in WWE, but said he’s more than willing to put his pro wrestling career on hold for a showdown against the former two-division UFC champion.

“If Conor McGregor wants to fight, we are running it,” Paul said to WWE writer Rob Fee. “It’s an epic fight. It would be something I would like step away from WWE for a second to go do. $250 million, Rob. $250 million, Rob. I have to take that. Unless, if Nick Khan matches that, I’ll stay in the WWE.

“I think he’s trying to pressure Dana (White) into making it happen because he’s owned by the UFC. Like he can’t do f*cking sh*t, let alone fight without them knowing.”

Later in the video blog, during Raw on Netflix debut, Paul ran into Ari Emanuel – CEO of Endeavor, the company that owns TKO (UFC and WWE), and asked him to allow a fight between the two.

“Ari, Ari,” Paul said, calling his attention. “I need one favor from you, I need you to greenlight me vs. Conor. No, but seriously.”

To which Emanuel replied, “Seriously.”

On Sunday, Dec. 29, McGregor and The MacLife shared a collaborative post on Instagram announcing the fight against Paul as “set.” The post did not include a date for the fight, yet stated it would take place in India at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium, and said McGregor would make $250 million.

There has been no official word from the UFC or WWE on the legitimacy of the bout.
