Lindsey Romig named SEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Senior goalkeeper Lindsey Romig has been named SEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Romig recorded a career-high nine saves Friday in the Lady Vols’ 2-1 win at Florida.

She recorded five saves over the final 25 minutes of the match. Romig made six saves from inside the 18-yard box.

Tennessee has recorded four shutouts in its last five matches.

The conference award is Romig’s third during her career. She earned the honor twice during the 2020-21 season.

The Lady Vols return to action Thursday, hosting No. 11 Alabama at Regal Soccer Stadium.

Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. EDT and the game will be broadcast on SEC Network+.

UT soccer player Lindsey Romig named SEC Defensive Player of the Week after the Lady Vols’ 2-1 soccer victory over Missouri.

BIRMINGHAM — University of Tennessee goalkeeper Lindsey Romig was named the Southeastern Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Romig, a sophomore from Midlothian, Virginia, made eight saves in the Lady Vols’ 2-1 SEC victory over Missouri on Oct. 9 at Regal Soccer Stadium.

Her eight saves against the Tigers tied a career-high.

She faced career-highs in shots (19) and shots on goal (nine) last week against Missouri.

Romig made six saves in the second half of Tennessee’s latest match. She made three stops in the final seven minutes of the match and sealed the victory with a save in the waning seconds.

The Lady Vols (2-2, 2-2 SEC) will travel to Lexington to play Kentucky on Sunday.
