One AFC team’s loss could become another’s gain, according to sportsbooks.
Per BetMGM, the Buffalo Bills actually have some decent odds at landing former New York Jets running back Le’Veon Bell. Clocking in at +1100 odds at BetMGM via The Action Network, the Bills are tied with the 49ers for the fourth-best look to land the former All-Pro running back.
The only teams to have better odds are the Bears (+400), Eagles (+500), and Cardinals (+800).
On Tuesday, it was reported that the Jets were trying to trade Bell. It was unlikely the Bills could’ve made an in-division swap for him with the Jets. However, the Jets evidently didn’t find anyone wanting to give anything up for Bell because he was released the following day.
The 28-year-old was clearly upset with the 0-5 Jets. It’s easy to see because he’s no stranger to social media and Bell went out after the Jets’ latest loss, a 30-10 defeat at the hands of the Cardinals last week, and started interacting with messages that criticized the Jets’ usage of him in the game.
Bell held out while with the Steelers in 2018 and then averaged a career-low 3.2 yards per carry in 2019. This season, Bell is at a 3.9 clip so far, but only has 19 carries and 74 yards through two games played. Bell signed a four-year, $52.5 million deal last offseason.
With the Bills, Bell would fit into a backfield with second-year pro Devin Singletary and rookie Zack Moss. Due to a toe injury, Moss has missed time this season. But regardless of just having Singletary or both guys healthy, Buffalo has not relied on the run game very much this year. Quarterback Josh Allen has carried the offense to their 4-1 record thus far.
