Caleb Williams reveals he keeps his Heisman Trophy between some Legos

This is actually awesome.

Caleb Williams isn’t keeping his 2022 Heisman Trophy in a big room with all of his football accomplishments or in a display case.

Or, maybe it’s in there with other stuff he’s proud of, like his Lego builds.

That’s what might be the case after the Chicago Bears rookie quarterback posted a series of photos on Instagram that was captioned, “The secret to having it all, is realizing you already do.”

A lovely sentiment, and in the photos was a snap of the Heisman between two Lego sets. You have to love that! Keeping it simple.

Here’s the post and the photos of the Heisman:

Chiefs C Hunter Nourzad explains his hobbies at training camp: ‘I’m a big Lego guy’

Kansas City #Chiefs C Hunter Nourzad explains his hobbies at training camp: “I’m a big Lego guy” | @EdEastonJr

The news of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes deciding to bring a TV to training camp for the first time has inspired more questions about what players pack with them for entertainment.

Chiefs rookie center Hunter Nourzad has his spin on what he’s brought to training camp, and it has nothing to do with television, as he shared with reporters on Thursday.

“I’m a big Lego guy,” said Nourzad. “So I brought one of my smaller sets just to have a piece of home with me.”

Nourzad began his collegiate career at Cornell University, earning the Ivy League Offensive Lineman of the Year award in 2021. He transferred to Penn State the following year, switched to center and was selected as second-team All-Big Ten.

Even though he’s not a kid anymore, he doesn’t hide his joy for Legos.

“So I have the Lego orchid. I have a coliseum with a 10,000-piece set,” said Nourzad. “I have a Bugatti, an F-150, a Dodge Challenger. I have a crane that moves and a Formula One car.”

He mentioned that he’s planning on getting a shelving unit to store his collection properly. He gave a brief story regarding his love for Legos dating back to his childhood.

“I had a Lego Batmobile when I was like 8. I think I got it for Christmas and built it over Christmas break,” said Nourzad. “And then, being an 8-year-old, I was clumsy, and I remember dropping it down the stairs and just raw emotion. That’s all that happened when I when I dropped it.”

Nourzad is working hard at training camp to avoid dropping an opportunity on the offensive line. He could be a versatile reserve at any position.

Former Duke basketball star Dereck Lively II goes viral for post about his LEGO collection

Dereck Lively II, who earned national adoration for his two double-doubles against Oklahoma City in the second round of the playoffs, has quite the hobby.

[autotag]Dereck Lively II[/autotag], the former Duke basketball star and the playoff darling of the Dallas Mavericks, has quite the hobby.

Earlier this week, with the Mavericks in the midst of preparing for the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics, Lively shared a TikTok video showing off his LEGO collection. And spoiler alert, it’s gigantic.

In a video with nearly 650,000 likes as of Wednesday afternoon, Lively showed off structures like the Statue of Liberty, the Avengers tower from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and more.

Even with Lively’s 7-foot frame, some of the sets he showed off were the size of his torso.

Commenters seemed thrilled with the glimpse into Lively’s personality. Fans of other NBA teams shared their desire to see the Mavericks win a championship while others compared Lively to Indiana Pacers big man Myles Turner, who posts similar content about his collection.

Eagle-eyed Duke fans will also notice Lively wearing a Blue Devils shirt during the video.

These players built a creative solution to Lego Fortnite’s fast travel problem

These players found a clever solution to Lego Fortnite’s fast travel problem by building cars, planes, and flying fortresses

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

Lego Fortnite fast travel isn’t a thing, both in the video game sense of instantly transporting yourself somewhere or in the normal sense of just moving kinda quickly. That makes moving around in Lego Fortnite’s vast open world a bit of a chore, but some clever players figured out a way to pick up the pace.

They built cars, planes, some flying fortresses, and one or two creations that probably don’t fit into any known category.

That’s all in the spirit of Lego, you might say, but the impressive part about this is that Lego Fortnite actually has pretty strict limits on what you can build and how it works. For starters, there are no blueprints for building cars or vehicles of any kind. Compounding the challenge is a quirk with Lego Fortnite blocks that means they don’t always function the way you might expect. If you slap some wheels on a basic block, they aren’t going to turn.

The foundation for these creations is dynamic – literally. It’s called the Dynamic Foundation block, named for how it interacts with other blocks in ways that most building materials in the game don’t. You can stick some balloons on it to create a floating platform or attach wheels to form a basic car.

YouTuber Zzyinc made what looks like a hybrid tank-car combo with a small hut on the front. Another creator just stuck some rockets on the foundation and went flying off into the sunset.

TikTok user Scuba tried using a thruster-balloon combination to make a large plane, though steering the flying contraption wasn’t the easiest task.

Speaking of flying, my favorite creation has to be this one, from Reddit user Peruunaa. It’s a complex build with multiple platforms, several thrusters, and some clever use of switches to control propulsion.

Clankbloon v.1 (Steerable airship)
byu/Peruunaaa inLEGOfortnite

Lego Fortnite doesn’t have steering wheels, so they placed their plane’s thrusters and switches in a pattern that meant they could toggle them on and off to control the airship’s direction.

Most of the materials these creations require, including flexwood, only become available as you make a fair bit of progress in a survival run, so expect to spend a lot of time on your little Lego feet before you can start building contraptions like this yourself.

Where to find flexwood in Lego Fortnite

Our Lego Fortnite flexwood guide points out where to look and how to get all of it that you’ll need.

Getting the Lego Fortnite flexwood material is a pretty lengthy process compared to harvesting the open-world game’s other necessary items – and flexwood definitely is necessary. You need it for crafting high-level weapons, better tools, and even the health charms that keep you going in the face of rollers and other powerful enemies. Getting it requires some additional upgrades first, though, and a long trek into the dusty wilderness.

How to get marble in Lego Fortnite

Our Lego Fortnite marble guide points out where to look and how to get more of the good stuff than you’ll probably ever need.

If you want to upgrade your village and pretty much everything else in Epic’s new blocky builder, you’ll need plenty of the Lego Fortnite marble material. Marble is one of the more challenging building materials to find, since, unlike granite – and marble’s real-life counterpart – you can’t actually just hew it out of the rocks. You have to hunt down specific locations in one of Lego Fortnite’s open-world biomes. On the bright side, it’s a pretty easy biome to find, since you almost always start there.

Another iconic Nintendo series is getting the Lego treatment soon

Nintendo and Lego are teaming up again for another crossover featuring an iconic series, and this time, it’s Animal Crossing

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

Nintendo and Lego are teaming up again for another crossover featuring an iconic series, and this time, it’s Animal Crossing. Nintendo announced the Animal Crossing Lego collaboration in a short video on Twitter, a few months after seemingly wrapping up the Super Mario Lego line for good.

The video was all Nintendo shared about the Animal Crossing Lego sets, but it shows quite a few fan-favorite characters. Rosie, Bunnie, and Marshall make an appearance, alongside Fauna and Julian, and then series figureheads Tom Nook, Isabelle, and Kapp’n the kappa. There’s also a brief shot of a Lego balloon present floating around and plenty of Lego fruit trees and Lego flowers.

That’s about it, but leaks from earlier in 2023 suggest we won’t have to wait long for more. Lego leaker Falconbricks said Nintendo and Lego plan to launch the line in March 2024, which will reportedly consist of five sets.

Falconbricks said these would range from a 170-piece set for $14.99 to a 535-piece set for $74.99. Whether those are the only planned sets or if Lego will launch expansions, as they did for the Super Mario and Donkey Kong sets remains to be seen.

What they may include is anyone’s guess, though there’s certainly plenty of choice when it comes to Animal Crossing buildings. Blathers’ museum, the Able Sisters’ shop, and Tom Nook’s depot are some obvious choices that have been around in some form since the series began on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2003.

Nintendo has largely remained quiet on the Animal Crossing front since New Horizons‘ 2.0 patch launched in 2021, and while Switch 2 rumors are beginning to sound like more than just speculation, there’s still no suggestion as to what might be ahead in the cozy life game‘s future.

See it: Notre Dame’s Golden Dome in LEGO form

What is the coolest thing you ever built with LEGOs?

If you could spend three years working on a single project what would you choose to do?

If you said “build Notre Dame’s Golden Dome out of LEGOs”  then I’m sorry to say you’re late to the party, pal.
Fr. Bob Simon, who has previously built a massive LEGO version of the Vatican (using roughly 500,000 Lego bricks), spent roughly the last three years constructing Notre Dame’s main building.  He did so after being asked by  Notre Dame’s Associate Vice President for Storytelling and Engagement Jim Small back in 2019.
This creation by Simon “only” consists of about 300,000 bricks so it’s clearly child’s play compared to his Vatican piece.

If you are around campus then it’s on display to check out near the east door of the first floor of McKenna Hall, which faces Notre Dame Avenue. It’s viewable Monday – Friday, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET.
I can’t start to imagine the kind of money Notre Dame and LEGO could make if they partnered together to make a campus landmark series.  Really any college for that matter.

Fans remade Resident Evil 4’s iconic opening in Lego form

While Lego typically steers clear of horror games, one fan created a version of what Lego Resident Evil 4 might look like

While Lego typically steers clear of horror games, one fan decided that needed to change and created a version of what Lego Resident Evil 4 might look like (thanks, Kotaku). YouTuber Cara Aleatorio, who specializes in creating Lego-inspired animation sequences, posted a recreation of Resident Evil 4’s iconic opening, where Leon S. Kennedy first encounters the murderous Ganado, made entirely in Lego.

The scene starts as it does in the game, with Leon arriving outside an unnamed Spanish village with his two ill-fated colleagues. The clearly marked dirt roads through the dingy woods are gone, replaced with a more blocky, yet more natural path, lined with Lego trees inhabited by Lego crows that Leon can shoot with his bullet-free gun.

In true Lego fashion, this is a bloodless Resident Evil. Leon’s confrontation with the lone Ganado villager inside a nearby house includes a pain-free gunshot to the leg and a roundhouse kick that sends the villager flying in humorous fashion.

Leon takes a tumble out of an upper-floor window to escape and meets three more angry villagers, including one who looks like a Lego Santa Claus in farmer’s getup. Resident Evil’s over-the-top horror camp fits surprisingly well with Lego’s tongue-in-cheek humor, and we can’t help but wish for a full Resident Evil Lego crossover now.

While that’s not likely to happen anytime soon, there is more Resident Evil 4 on the way., Resident Evil 4 remake launches for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on March 24, 2023. You can download a free demo of the game’s opening sequence – the same sequence the Lego version is based on – on console and PC now.

Lego Atari 2600 set announced, will release next month

The 2,532-piece set includes buildable cartridges, case holders, and more.

Perhaps nothing is more wonderfully nostalgic than Lego sets. Well, aside from maybe retro consoles like the Atari 2600. Now, imagine: combing both into one brilliant package.

On Tuesday, Lego announced the Atari 2600 set. It looks just like the original 1977 console, complete with adjustable joysticks, and even contains buildable cartridges of iconic games such as Asteroids, Centipede, and Adventure. Much more authentic than most weird video game tie-in merch. Wilder still, there are even three tiny dioramas representing each title. For example, the Asteroids miniature shows a spaceship blowing up space rocks. You know, as things should be!

Watch the Lego Atari 2600 announcement teaser below. Loads of loving thought and care clearly went into this beautiful old-school nod.

There’s also a small gallery worth flipping through, especially to see the (extremely cool) fold-out basement setup.

Unsurprisingly, the 2,532-piece set is part of Lego’s 18+ icon line. After all, most people into this sort of thing were probably toddlers when the Atari 2600 came out. Not that I’m calling out any older folks or anything like that.

The Lego Atari 2600 set will be available on Aug. 1, 2022, for $239.99 and sold exclusively through Lego’s store. There aren’t any pre-order options, so you better get up bring and early on release day to get this one.
