The Baltimore Ravens’ season didn’t end exactly how everyone hoped or expected it would. But some good came out of Baltimore’s loss, as hard as that is to fathom.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was knocked out of the game after taking a vicious hit in the end zone, having his head bounce off the ground. It was a scary moment as Jackson stayed on the turf for quite some time, though he eventually walked off the field and into the locker room on his own.
Buffalo Bills fans, more commonly known as “Bills Mafia” went out of their way to stay classy after the game. The outpouring of respect, condolences, and those wishing Jackson a speedy recovery were already enough to bring a tear to the eyes of even the sorest of losers. But Bills fans took it a step further, donating to one of Lamar Jackson’s favorite charities after the game.
Immediately following Buffalo’s 17-3 win over Baltimore, Bills fans took to Twitter and Reddit with the donation information for Louisville’s Blessings In A Backpack charity. While it’s unclear exactly how much was donated, many fans talked about donating $8 (Jackson’s jersey number) or $17 (the number of points Buffalo scored and quarterback Josh Allen’s jersey number).
There’s little more to say than Bills Mafia showed some real class and hopefully, it’s something all sports fans can learn from. Go circle those wagons Buffalo and represent the AFC in Super Bowl LV.
